I went from 11 Pro Max to 13 Pro. Mainly because I carry my phone in my front jeans pocket. And when sitting down it kept poking into my hip. The things i considered was battery life. But I decided to buy the magsafe battery pack for the 13 Pro, which gives me greater battery life than a Max version. And I saved 100 bucks on the size which I could spend on the battery

Two months later.............still have both sizes. Every time I box one up to sell I end up encountering a situation where I really wish I had a larger/smaller phone. It is a sickness I swear. In the end, I think I need to decide if I want to be a 2 device person or not. I have a 12.9 iPad Pro that I could use to watch shows and browse on the couch but most times since I have a Max I don't really pull it out. During the day when in the field working it is the 13 Pro I have on me most of the time. I've told myself that by the end of this week one of them will be in a UPS truck on the way to its new home. Stay tuned.

Clearly you don’t have enough devices :D (looking at your signature ;) ) I’m not missing the Max at all. It was mostly FOMO on my part— 2 weeks in with the 13 Pro and I don’t find it lacking for my use at all.

I am still trying to decide if the 13 Pro would be an upgrade to my 12 Pro.

I finally found a 13 Pro to try out at local Apple store and they are allowing me to return one or the other. I used 13PM for a month after 12PM last year. It is awkward to hold one-handed and heavy enough it makes my pinky go numb and I have very long pianist hands.

Things I like about 13 Pro:

Size in my hand makes it easy to hold and use. Doesn’t drag down in my sweater or pants pocket. Battery seems to be sufficient. Screen quality is fine, a bit warmer color temp than my 13PM.

Things I like on 13PM:

Crazy-long battery life. Also, it displays a bit more information on the screen whereas info seems a bit crowded on 13 Pro.

Both have good speakers and great camera as these are the same specs this time.

I am having a really hard time making a final decision. Is the extra screen real estate and battery life worth the inconvenience of a 2-handed phone? I don’t know.

I bet that’s quickly fixed by going into a shop and looking at both side by side.

Pro and con are also well documented as in size and weight while we now have feature parity. It mainly comes down to personal preference.

Going into a shop hasn’t necessarily been something people have wanted to do for the past couple years for obvious reasons. So getting hands-on can be a challenge/risk.

Size and dimensions might help if you already have something to compare to, but that’s also not always an option.

I knew the size of my iPhone X, but wasn’t sure if I wanted to go all the way up to a Pro Max or stick with the standard phone. Both would be larger than what I had. In my case, I have a 6.5” Android phone I used to guess, but when I got my 13 Pro Max, it was shorter and wider than the Android. So the Android really wasn’t a good device to go by, but it did give me a general idea.

You make it sound so easy to make the decision. I believe it’s more complicated for most people and currently has the added challenge of not as much access to hands-on.

I think some may make this more complicated than it should be. This isn’t the first time two different pro sizes are available and in addition to the tons of reviews , feature parity and posts on the matter there’s also a generous return policy, at least if you buy from Apple, in a lot of countries. And the latter is even extended over the holiday season.

After years of having the plus/max phones, I went from a 12pm to 13 pro. I loved everything about the big screen but just got tired of the phone’s overall size and having to reach over to Timbuktu (with pretty decent sized hands) to text/type.

Maybe I should lift more.

Pro has a good feel to it. I have a feeling I’ll miss the screen size but let’s see- I told myself I’d try it until the 14 comes out.

I don’t spend much time watching video on my phone; I’m just over 2 weeks into moving from the 12 PM to the 13 Pro, and I haven’t found the 13 Pro lacking at all, and am really enjoying the smaller footprint.

At the end of the day… both are great, I could go either way... and I feel a little silly having agonized over the decision so much, haha. #FirstWorldProblems :p

If I told people how many times I returned and ordered the Pro, people would judge. But I think it’s time is the charm. I’m enjoying it so far. Plus, this time I traded the pro max in store so not like I can get it back ?

Last year I went with the 12 Pro after using the max/plus sized iPhones since the 6+. I used it for a month before my wife upgraded to the 12 Pro Max. And yeah, while I was happier with the mobility of the phone, when it came time to use it - I missed the screen space (which isn’t terribly different but noticeable) - and the battery life. In the end, I chose to go back to the Pro Max (giving the 12 Pro to family).

With the 13 - I almost almost went with the mini but again decided to go with the 13 Pro Max and I’m glad I did because work has already sent me places where I needed to do calls, hotspots all day long and the 13 Pro Max handled those like a champ - and allowed me to read hours and hours (10+) of books on the flights without sweating battery life.

I’m tempted to get the smaller phone because I have an iPad Pro 11 but … there are times where I am stuck with the iPhone and I really enjoy the larger battery/screen size - enough for me to stay with the PM for now.

I did this for the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. Switched back and forth literally for the entire year. Honestly, it was tiring. I selected the iPhone 13 Pro this cycle. I don't regret it at all. Battery life is still fantastic for me. On heavy use days, I still end the night with 40%+ battery. My wife actually just went from the 12 Pro Max to the Sierra Blue 13 Pro and says she will never use the larger iPhone again.

I just upgraded my 11 Pro to a 13 Pro, and I tried 13 Pro Max in the store.
I owned a 6 Plus and an 8 Plus, so I was used to big iPhone , loving the battery life and screen, but this is just too much for me. I really don’t want anything bigger than the 13 Pro, and even the small difference from the 11 Pro is noticeable to me.

give it some time perhaps? you'll likely miss the screen size!
