The updated one. I don't have the older one for comparison, but the one I have is flaking all over the screen. However, I'm wondering if it just needs a break in phase.

I wouldn't think it would need to be broken in. Sounds defective to me. I've only had mine for 24 hours so I'll keep a close eye on it the next few days. I'm loving it so far though.

July 6th: "We will shoot you a trk# in about 2-3 weeks when the replacement ships."

July 26th: "Delayed, no additional info but about 2 weeks, hopefully sooner"

August 11th: "They should be here in about 2 weeks max."

August 23rd: "Operations has delayed 1-2 weeks longer"

Man. Another 1-2 weeks still? How is it Speck can't get these shipped out to us when AT&T retail has the new ones in stock?
 
Judging by the pattern of BS delays, I'm not expecting anything in the next few weeks. And he keeps practically begging me to pick another case. I'm convinced they intentionally jerked us around long enough for the refund window to close.
 
Got tired of waiting. Asked for the Pixelskin HD instead and got it last week. I do prefer this one over the candyshell as the back won't get all scratched up like the CS. I only wish it was a little more hard plastic-cky as the lip on top is a bit flexible, but not that much.

I suspect this has something to do with AT&T, actually. Speck is probably waiting for a shipment of RETURNS from AT&T, cases people bought and returned for whatever reason. Speck will then send us one of those returned cases.

I can't prove thats true, I'm just speculating.
 
I love the case but i am growing tired of this....i have waited almost 2 months since i put in my request for a replacement for the white one....Every 2 weeks it is just another two weeks. Not sure what is going on but its growing tiresome.
 
Got this case at Target today and looks like I got the old version. Does anyone know if I can get a replacement from Speck even though I didn't buy it directly from them?

I suggest you return it to Target for a refund, and buy one from AT&T. Speck will only give you the run-around.

That's what I did picked the GeoMetric, they send it in 2-day FedEx and then went into store AT&T and got the CandyShell replaced for the revised one. No flaking, no flash issue and no misaligned silent switch.
 
I e-mailed them early last week after reading the forum that there was an issue. I got a response from them the following day with instructions to fax a copy of receipt, my info and which replacement I wanted. I faxed them over the weekend.

I got notification today that it shipped. I don't know why others seem to be having issues - they took care of it immediately.

Wait. You mean they sent you out one of the new revised candyshells. I don't believe that. They have been keeping most of us waiting for weeks sighting delays in manufacturing etc...

My friend who also is waiting on a replacement said that he also got the impression they have no intention of sending a replacement CandyShell. Weird...they were always so responsive until the i4 came out.
 
Even though I bought mine at Target I did email them wondering about a replacement. So we will see...

I also paid less then they have listed on their website and AT&T's website.

I'd imagine they are wanting to get the revised ones out to retail channels first, since they make money off of those. The warranty replacements they send out make them $0, so I'd imagine that their "unspoken" strategy is to stall warranty replacements until they can fulfill their retail orders (which make them money), at least until they can get production caught up and have acceptable inventory levels of all the cases for both new sales and replacements for the bad first batches.

serious? if so, i'll be expecting an email from them sometime soon. i'd like more definite confirmation on this so just might hit them up again...
 
I've heard rumors that not many people are going to get a replacement. If you would like to wait till Thanksgiving time you might get a revised CandyShell but I've heard if you are waiting for a revised version, its a high possibility you will not get one this year at least. What you should do is request a different case (like the Geo). I have heard from a local ATT store that the CandyShell is the most popular case right now. They can not keep them on the shelves and they are constantly ordering more. They only get 5 at a time or something.

I'm moving on and looking at getting a different brand case. I liked the CandyShell but... its unfortunate and it may not be their fault but I've just decided to take my biz to a new company and see what else is out there. Since I use my i4 Cam ALL THE TIME the flash issue is a prob even with the simple sharpie fix.
 
I just bought a Candyshell today. Really impressed with it.

What are the revised versions people are talking about? I have a white casen and the flash ring is black with a smaller cutout for the flash. I haven't noticed any flash probs yet.
 
Damn sure never buying another Speck product after this. Not choosing another case from them, either. Screw Erik, I'll keep stuffing his mailbox with weekly reminders of his endless BS. It's gotta suck working for a company that just has you sit there and feed crap to customers.
 
Called Speck to ask about the concern of the candy scratching the back. They said it's impossible unless you fail to clean the back before putting it into case. It's the particles that can scratch the back if not cleaned.
