really? why did those fools stand in line and camp out then?

Wow, swing and a miss. Those (like me) who got their 4s early pre-ordered and got lucky with shipping. The "fools" (you?) waited in line because, for whatever reason, didn't preorder. How is this hard to understand?

How can you tell the iPod is using data? Are yo using an app for this?

hahah if you think i would refer to people as fools if i was with them then your more of a fool then them

ya maybe but thats a tad different maybe the bug is lag in updating the data counter and not that data is being used when its turned off

i still don't understand the data being used in the ipod app...or going down 10% every hour of normal usage.

i posted a screen shot of the data being used in the ipod during the 4.3 drainage thread. let me see if i can find it .

https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=12128095&#post12128095

there were no other apps open...what is my ipod connecting to?

was it maybe trying to fetch and email? are you emails setup to fetch? i see your connected to WiFi so im not sure if that connections is refreshed at times?

see how your post 1 now makes no sense you said you were in airplane mode but in your screenshot your connect to a WiFi and AT&T, if your were trully in airplane mode you would never see that data spining wheel

I had a similar problem with my iPhone 4 after upgrading to 4.3: The usage figure was identical to the standby one and the battery drained really quickly. I tried rebooting with no success.
I then tried disabling Ping (as suggested in a thread on Apple's support forums), disabling push notifications, removing mail accounts and turning off location services.
None of these things made any difference at all and my usage time was still the same as my standby time.
I even tried putting it into airplane mode and that made no difference.

Finally, in an act of desperation (before doing a restore as new), I removed all the recent apps from the "multi-task" bar (even though none of them would be running because my phone had been restarted.
Amazingly, this last desperate measure worked and my usage stopped following my standby time and has been fine since!

I have absolutely no idea why this worked or even why it would make any difference at all and my battery life is now back to normal: it's currently at 83%, 8 hours after I unplugged it whereas before it would be down to about 30% by now.

So, if you're having problems try doing what I did - it doesn't make sense but it worked for me so might work for you too!

That's what's why I used a question mark and didn't make a statement, but the simple fact that you asked the question in the first place is all the answer I really needed.

i don't know...it could just lagging in the update.

i don't use push for my email. might try uninstalling it.

i'm just annoying with this ipod using data! it's not supposed to.

excuse me for not thinking a consumer can get a product before its launched to the comsumers, next time i will do a pre-order and ill make sure im wearing my boner pants for the occassion

These is getting crazy. 4.3 is flawless on my phone.

Where are people dreaming this?

Just because you didn't have problems doesn't mean other people didn't. I didn't dream the ridiculous battery drain on my phone or the fact that the usage followed the standby: see attached screenshot

ping didn't work either.

Even before the 4.3 update, I was having issues with the Usage and the Standby being the same. The battery life didn't actually seem to be effected, though. Whenever I noticed the usage and standby were equal, I just restarted and the stats corrected themselves. A bit annoying, but not really important enough to me to really do anything about it.

Looks like you are having the same problem, but with battery drain. My problem was just with showing the usage, but not actually the usage.

I had that exact problem when I updated to 4.1. Battery drain was terrible and I had to do a complete restore and that solved things. Personally for me 4.3 is working just as good as when I got my iPhone. Weird though.

+1 issues with all phones, bb and androids included can be fixed with a reset

yeah, the battery life was also terrible. Just before I plugged the phone with that screenshot the battery was down to 7%, only 13 hours after unplugging from the charger and now it's at 83% after 8 hours (which is more what I would expect!)

I saw some articles on Apple's support site suggesting restoring as new to fix the issue, but I was really reluctant to do that as I've spent ages organising my apps into folders, etc. As I said, I have no idea why clearing down the recent apps worked but it seems to have and it's been fine since.

I'm sure I can deal with the drainage, it's not that bad...but the iPod app is really killing me.

Did you try setting up as a new phone? Always fixes little bugs like this for me. Or even just a hard reset.

I still don't fully understand how you KNOW that the iPod app is using data. How can you be so sure? Where are you getting the information that data is being sent to and from the server??

Did you see the link I posted above? I had no other apps in use. All my friends at work are saying "wow, that is weird". They never seen this before.

Just because that is spinning does not actually mean data is being used up. I have a data reading app, I completely reset it, closed all applications then loaded my ipod app, 0.000MB were used during the time since I relaunched my app. Therefore data is not being used up.

Edit: It also only does it on the first time you boot up the app, if you dont close it on the multitasking dock, then it wont show the spinning wheel.
