Got mine today (black carbon fiber)... here's a couple of pictures installed. Had to do it twice, first time I started by lining up the apple logo perfectly, then the hole for the camera was wayyy off. Then I lined up the camera and just gently put it down, went to lineup the apple logo and pivoted it around the camera hole until the apple logo lined up. Finally got it pretty good so pressed down and done. I like the CF texture because it doesn't show any scratches, if you get bubbles, etc - it's so busy that your eyes don't care to look for them..

I have on order a black 64G WiFi - would the black carbon fibre skin look good with that long with the blue poly smartcover?

This by far seems the easiest to apply without have to use a solution or water. I'm new to this and would be scared doing that.

Thanks.

I'm using the black carbon fibre with navy blue leather smart cover, looks great. I think it would go well with blue poly as well....

Decided to order the leather after reading this and seeing the pictures. I had every intention of going naked, but I noticed my ring knocks the back the way I hold it. I don't want any scratches and this should protect the back for the most part.

Black carbon arrived today. Clinton did not lie. They are easy to install. I followed the directions on the card and started at the camera. Once I had it even left to right, it covered great.

Had to slowly pull back about 1/3 to realign and I am very happy with the results. The cut out for the apple really helps.

I already mentioned in my earlier post with pictures that it's vey thin and there's no padding. One of the pictures I posted is a view from the side which illustrates how thin it is. I really love the way it looks. Everyone that's seen it has given me compliments on the look as well.
Any tips on applying the leather skin, which I hear has more aggressive adhesive? I know I'm probably not going to line up the apple correctly lol

Just line up the apple logo first and work your way from there. That's how I did it.

I ordered the leather skin on Thursday 3/17 and received it today. Definitely quick shipping and great packaging. One note to Clinton, you may want to start putting "Do Not Bend" on the packaging. The mailman bent mine a little to fit it into my mailbox. Luckily no damage was done.

Applying the skin was a little difficult. I don't usually have the patience for these things but if you take your time and carefully line up everything, it should turn out good. Mine is about a hair width crooked so I am pretty happy about it. I would purchase from the seller again. Thanks to the OP for posting the link to ebay.

Same here, got my leather skin today and I really like it. Be careful when applying, if you have to lift to adjust you will get "creases" in areas. It's because the adhesive sticks on pretty well. After re-adjusting and lining things up you can barely even notice a crease. Plus it makes it look more like natural leather ;)

Good stuff, would by from seller again.

Optical illusion..?

Looking at the white carbon close up pics more, is it me or does it magically make the (rather willowy) iPad 2 look fat? I'm sure it's not the case in person, but that's how it seems to me.

Guys just make sure when installing, you get it right the FIRST time. This skin is of very low quality and is VERY unforgiving if you need to peel back and reapply.

I tried installing it and came up half a mm short on one side. I peeled it back to fix it and the whole thing got messed up. Creases, cracks and all. So just make sure you get it right the first time.

I have to agree... :(
Hard to describe the material exactly, I wouldn't say it's "low quality", but it is somewhat rigid and difficult to work with if you screw up.

The first time I stuck mine on, it came out ok, I got the Apple logo aligned perfectly, but the camera hole was a bit off by about 2-3mm. I decided to take it off, and BIG mistake! It's a complete mess now, looks terrible. The material creases and it's impossible to smooth it out. The photo shows what it looks like after trying to apply it the 2ND TIME.

I don't know if it was just mine or what, but it never seemed to line up perfectly - either it was off around the camera or near the speaker. I always started out from the center, with the Apple logo.

Guess I gotta look for alternatives, this is not working for me.

How hard was the black carbon fiber to apply? I finally went ahead and purchased it as I thought it looked really cool.

Does it add much size to the Ipad? I don't think it really will but wanted to make sure.

Most people posted here that they had an easier time applying the carbon fiber vs. the leather ones. If you look at a few posts before, the guy from juststickit, Clinton, mentioned that the black leather ones have a more stickier adhesive then the carbon fiber ones. This is a big reason why I just went w/ the carbon fiber. I am suppose to get mine tomorrow so we'll see.

Thats EXACTLY what mine looked like. Glad to see I wasn't the only one.

Although maybe not low quality, it is definitely much thinner than other leather or textured skins that I have applied on my electronics before (for example,. SGP products). That's why I mentioned that everyone should try and get it perfect the first time, because if you need to peel it up just a bit for realignment of whatever, you'll get creases and cracks.

Good choice on the black Carbon Fiber - I had to remove mine once and it did have some of the creases like I see in the leather picture above. However, when I placed it the second time it smoothed out pretty well and even though I wasn't able to get all the creases out perfectly, it looks great and you'd never know they were there.

I think the carbon fiber material must be a little thicker and the texture is more rigid which allows it to be a bit more durable.

Black leather skin arrived today and it took longer to open the mailing pouch and the plastic bag the skin was in than it did to apply the skin. I peeled about a third of the backing paper back and folded it on itself, centered the camera hole, made sure the edge of the skin was parallel to the edge of the iPad, then smoothed the skin towards the speaker end of the iPad as I peeled the rest of the backing paper off. Moved a few air bubbles to the edge of the skin then smoothed the skin all over, warmed the skin up with a hair dryer. Done. Very simple install. Super product.

Has anyone ordered the metallic wood or designer wood skins? I love the way they look on ebay (I've never been a fan of the carbon fiber look)! How do these look in person? What's the main difference between the two? If anyone has either of these, would you please post pics? Thanks!

Update: Unfortunately, the black leather shows the oil from your fingerprints. Yuck. Might have to get a different skin like the carbon fiber.:(

Hey Mike - pm me if you'd like to discuss an exchange.

The leather does show the oils from your hand, where as the carbon's don't.

I'm waiting for my leather one I order to show up, but now I'm wondering if I should have went carbon because of the oil showing up.

Also.. Is there anyway to get a silver color in carbon or matt? One that matches the finish on the iPad itself?

Thanks
Allen

I bought an iPad2 carbon fiber from you and love it but would be interested in upgrading to a skin with a bit more protection...

Just trying to understand...

What's so protective about a skin that covers the 1/8" (?) around the edges?

I got my leather skin in the mail today and I really like it. It wasn't toooo hard to install, but I was still a hair off on the upper right side of the apple. Can't even notice from most angles, so I'm pleased. The finger prints don't bother me. :)
