I reported on the issue with the black leather skin and transfer of skin oils a few weeks ago. After a few weeks have gone by it doesn't seem too bad now. Maybe I've just gotten used to it the same way I'm used to seeing fingerprints on the screen. Everytime I use a microfiber on the front I quickly wipe the back as well and everything is okay again.

I'll try to post a picture later on after I've used it for awhile to show what the oil/fingerprints look like on the skin.

Hoody999... here are some quick pics to give you an idea what the fingerprint/skin oils looks like on the black leather skin. This is from picking it up and carrying it around a few times today. When I use the ipad I fold the smart cover back behind the ipad so my fingers aren't actually touching the skin while I'm using it. I also took a another picture after spending about 10 seconds wiping it off with a microfiber cloth.

Just received my leather skin today and have it installed. It took a couple attempts but it ended up alright. I found aligning with the camera worked best.
Mine looks like the photos above with the grease. Not a big deal for me as i'm expecting a Pad&Quill case soon so this is a stopgag and protection from when it's out of the case. High quality product, easy enough to install, recommended.

I was wondering if anyone has used the full back coverage with the smart cover. Over in the icarbons thread people have been complaining the skin interferes with the magnets to some extent. A couple of people have made cut outs to accommodate. Thanks in advance.

Would love to know this too...i am about ready to pull the trigger on one of these

Hi Sotie, thanks for the pics. That's not so bad. No worse than the marks you have if you own an iPod touch or iPhone. I'm actually thinking of getting a sleeve for the iPad to go in, which will clean it a bit when putting it in and taking out.

International orders?

Hi! I am really impressed by these skins and that the creator of the skin has a great support here makes me wanna order one of these.
A question, is it possible to order a carbon skin to Sweden? I am looking for the original Carbon skin where it does not go all up to the end of the sides.

Once again, great job!

does anyone know how easy it is to remove these things once installed? Does it leave a mark on the back?

I managed to get ahold of Clinton and get a Titanium skin and I have to say it looks better even in person than in photos. It is definitely a brushed metallic look but a little more subdued because of the nature of the titanium. I like it especially because I have a navy blue leather Smart Cover so the black leather skin would clash a bit IMHO. Also I have a 3g model and this actually looks a bit nicer than stock to my eyes because it essentially covers most of the black antenna piece on the top back of the iPad. Here are some albeit not so great photos but I tried to use some lighting which would show off the metallic look better, it is very difficult to capture accurately as Clinton described earlier in the thread:

That looks siiiick! Ordered mine yesterday from Clinton. Can't wait to see it in real person. I'll post some pix later as well :)

Just got my carbon fiber skin. I love it. It fits great
, feels good and doesn't interfere with the smart cover. Thanks SurfaceSkins

I have had my black carbon fiber for about 2 weeks now and I cannot say enough good things about it. Highly recommended!

Hi Clinton I wrote you 2 emails and sent a PM and haven't heard back from you yet - hope to hear soon.... thanks.

Does the leather BookBack have the same issue with fingerprint/skin oil transfer? I've asked in a couple of other posts and no one wants to answer this question.

Hi Sotie, I sent them an email direct. Got the answer that fingerprints don't show up. My only concern with the Bookback is that the corner at the speaker will turn up after time, as the corner at that point is quite skinny. This skin is also slightly thicker than the juststickit skins.

Both are probably worth a try I'd say.

Got my brushed titanium back from Clinton today. It was my first time installing something like this, so had some trouble applying the corners. Ended up with a few wrinkles on bottom corners, but overall, easy install. If you have a little more patience than I do, you will be able to install it nice and clean without a problem. As mentioned in this thread, pictures don't do justice. The brushed titanium finish is gorgeous in real life, and it's a great pair with my black smart cover (smart cover magnets work perfectly). Cut outs line up perfectly with the iPad. It's relatively thin, but good enough to provide overall protection for the back.

Overall, very very satisfied. Clinton has a wonderful customer service, and I definitely recommend it to those looking for a nice back cover to be used with smart cover or other less bulky cases.

How are you guys getting these new backs from JSIS already? I emailed Clinton twice and sent him a PM and no response. Yesterday he posted saying he was going to respond to everyone by tonight but still nothing.

I give him until Monday the I'm buying from a different seller, hope he comes through.

EDIT: Clinton wrote me back tonight, I take back everything I said above.... Thanks Clinton for the response and get well soon.

Hey Mojosung, what sort of bag have you got there ? I was also looking for something similar.

oh yeah, one other thing. How did you line up the skin ? From Logo, camera or cutouts for magnet cover attachment point ? Did you use a hairdryer for the corners ?

For those who have gotten one of the titanium skins, what is the feel and consistency of the skin? Does it provide good grip like the leather or carbon models or does it have a metallic feel? The more grip the better for me.....

The sleeve is from xtrememac. It's made for ipad 1 but it fits perfectly with the ipad 2. it's tight and doesn't move around at all.

As for installing the skin, I used the instructions for icarbons product. And yes, I used heat (hairdryer) for the corners. For two of the corners, I didn't apply enough heat so ended up with a few wrinkles, but overall, it's really easy.

If you're looking for good grip, you're probably better off with leather or carbon models. Titanium skin is really smooth; feels very much like the original back of the ipad. I went with the titanium because i didn't want fingerprints on leather back, and carbon was too much for me. Titanium is subtle, yet provides enough protection for the back :) Hope this helped.

You can re-heat the corners, lift them up and reapply. Initially, I wasn't happy with a couple of my corners so I went back to fix a day later and got them perfect.

Hey Mojojosung, thanks for the answers. Can you actually fit your iPad (with smart cover on) inside the Xtrememac Pocket ? Is the pocket somewhat robust to protect the iPad corners etc ?
