JUST my AW lol. I have a base thing that the watch and my iPhone sit on so it was no hassle tbh :)

I was talking to the Mrs the other day and Im selling a few of my watches as I want a new car soon and I don't wear them so they going in the car fund. I plan on a ceramic bezel Daytona this year so will likely just have that the Hublot along with the AW, the rest can go :)

Do tell. I'm not sure if I would take my AW just because of the need to take the charging dongle.

That was one issue I faced when I wore my Apple Watch to a school camp with my students. It lasted 36 hours on a near full charge, so I spent the last part of the event with it on power saver mode. Granted, I used it a fair bit (notifications, alarms, Siri), but it's a sobering reminder that this is ultimately a gadget which needs recharging every 1.5 days.

Shame that the one power bank with an integrated Apple Watch charger is also very expensive.

It's not too bad carrying the charging cable. I actually have an extra charging cable for the Apple Watch I keep with me when I travel. It's fairly convenient to have and you just end up getting used to it.

I couldn't sell my automatics. I still wear them on the days I don't wear my AW and if I sold them, I'd have to try and justify possibly buying them back in future to my wife and she'd never agree lol.

I do enjoy the AW and more than I thought I would. But I'm a Watch guy and there is a certain level of enjoyment I get from other individual watches that the AW can't compete with. That works both ways too as some of the useful features on the AW set it apart. It's more of a gadget though to me.

When I first read this thread I would not have dreamt I would sell my other watches but I have not worn them for so long now and the last straw was leaving them here last week. Normally I would take a few with me but I had no interest at all. Like I said to the mrs I might as well get some use out of them now and put them towards a new car when the time comes.

im keeping the Hublot as that's a limited edition and I do very much still like that watch and it's the only other I have worn since getting the AW but the Daytona's both going and the Sub. I'll check their values this week. I realise the AW2 will only have a certain shelf life unlike a Rolex etc but I'm sure that Apple will always keep up with the current tech etc so it should always remain relevant. Now I'm in on them like my other Apple products I'm a sucker for getting the latest and greatest lol.

I'm not entirely convinced Apple will always produce a Watch to be honest. I get the impression from reading articles that sales aren't as high as expected and the Fitbit series are the market leaders within the smart watch category. I suppose smart watches have potential to always be around but at this point in time I'm unsure whether Apple will always offer one. I'm an Apple guy too and enjoy the syncing it does to my iPhone so it has the advantage over others for me.

I have a fitbit and yes its good for working out while in the gym but thats the only time I liked to wear it. The AW2 is completely different in that respect for me. Its a watch as well as a gadget. The way it works with the iPhone is what has done it for me. I don't need to look at my iPhone 100's of times a day just a casual glance at the AW2 does it all.

The only thing going against the AW is the high price tag. Yes its not high for a watch but for a smart watch it is imo as others out there are a lot cheaper but they don't have the complete package like the AW in my view which is why I opted finally for the AW2.

I'd like to take a moment and thank Ffosse for starting this thread. Thanks a lot pal! Up until this thread I was very close to convincing myself there was no reason to buy an Apple Watch. After reading what most of you posted, it rekindled the fire. Went to the Apple store last night and bought the silver stainless steel watch. So far I'm pretty impressed. We'll see how everything works out and how long my regular analog watches hang out on the dresser.

Agreed. You pay a premium. But Apple delivers an exceptional product with hardware that lasts. And the stainless model is nothing short of quality.

Nope. Different occasions require different watch.

... Its amazing how many people I see in SF with a smart watch esp Apple Watches. There have been times where I've seen about 25-50% f the people in a bar or restaurant with one. I also see people in all age groups wearing them...

That's a fascinating observation. I've also noticed a lot of people with Apple Watches in SF when I visit there. Where I live (suburb of Sacramento, about 2 hrs away) I do not see nearly as many, though I do see them often enough and the percentage is slowly growing.

Based on reading accounts like these, and the overall discussion on this thread, I have to believe that reports of the Apple Watch selling poorly are completely false (certainly Cook is saying something entirely different). Looks to me like a lot of people are enjoying the watch, and Apple is continually improving on it which certainly helps.

I see very few Apple Watches in my part of the world. Being a Watch lover I do tend to pay extra attention when observing what watches people are wearing and the AW is quite rare here. We have a local Apple Store too and a John Lewis so I would have expected to see more. I only have one fellow colleague with a Series 2 model and I've seen maybe 3 or 4 on public transport and while shopping. There could well be more but they just haven't been visible.

I live in Pittsburgh, PA and I don't think anyone has seen my Apple Watch since late fall when I started wearing long sleeves and a jacket or coat when out and I wear my Apple Watch all day, everyday. I noticed a lot of folks wearing Apple watches this past summer but don't see them now so location, weather and time of year may have some effect on Apple Watch sightings.

The UK has bad weather for most of the year but I still notice watches generally regardless of coats and jumpers being essential attire here at the moment. It could be that people who own AW's are more conscious of not showing them off? Or it could be that they aren't that popular here. Mine has got quite a bit of discussion over the past 2 weeks from people who have noticed it. People are curious to know what it does and that suggests to me sightings aren't too common.

I have been asked if it's a Fitbit twice now too!

Well, Fitbit just announced layoffs and cutting in expenses because of slow holiday sales. Apple Watch is doing fine and seemingly Apple is committed long-term...Apple is NOT Google/Alphabet!

Both wife and I wear our Apple Watches...both of us have Rolexes sitting in the closet collecting dust for almost 2 years now.

I see Apple Watches in the wild quite often these days.

Agreed. I tend to look in public who
Is wearing an Apple Watch or not. And more than ever I see a huge demographic wearing the Apple Watch. Young and old. I have so many bands that I can pair with and change it daily. Never gets old to me.

Fitbit were suggested to be the fastest growing brand in the smart watch market only last week too. How strange? I see quite a few of those around and that's probably to be expected as they are half the price. I was only sharing personal experience here and it's no way a definitive sample to prove anything. As I say it's in my nature to look for watches as it's been a major interest of mine for many years.

Do you guys have any links to Apples growth with the AW? Googling seems to just throw up Apple is doomed stories and they irritate the hell out of me.

I guess it must be a location thing. I'm in the same camp as my fellow Brit and rarely spot any Apple Watches when I'm out, even though I'm also someone who pays attention to the watches people are wearing. None of my friends, family and colleagues own the AW but I have noticed a couple wearing Fitbit type bands lately.

The most attention my AW ever gets is from shop assistants when I'm using it for Apple Pay because most of them have never served anyone before who has used their watch to pay for their shopping. :)

It's definitely based on venue. I live in a fairly populated city and By a large shopping mall in my area, and I honestly see the Apple Watch anywhere from 10 to 12 times a day On different individuals.

I was recently spectated an NBA game, and the attendance was in the thousands. I was astonished on the large number wearing the Apple Watch. When the Apple Watch first launched in April 2015, it seemed I was the only one who had one around. Now, I don't know if I go daily without not seeing one on someone's wrist. And the demographic seems to be all over the charts.

And the reason I believe for the Apple Watch expanding, was those who were unsure if they really wanted to purchase one in the beginning. Now that it seems to be a success and in different respects, there are those who have taken advantage of the Apple Watch for all its capabilities for different reasons.

It certainly hasn't taken off at anyway near the same level around here. We've got a large shopping mall only a mile away but that's the place that's full of surprised shop assistants.

I can't speak for the UK. But in my state and in my general vicinity, Within this last year, I see a large plethora of smart watches worn by all ages, the primary being the Apple Watch.

Shockingly, even reading through the thread of the Apple Watch replacing your mechanical watch, countless forum members have mentioned how they have abandoned there high-end mechanical watches for an Apple Watch. Not to say their Omega's and Rolexes are no longer useful, it's basically saying the Apple Watch exceeds more in providing the information they want from their device. Not just the time a day and a fashion piece. Times have changed.
