Got my Cartier Roadster valued today and only £1700 for resale. Considering it cost £5700 thats crap but I can not find the paperwork so thats reflected. Oh well, have only worn it once in god knows how long.

They do have a very nice 2016 Daytona ceramic bezel though in store :D

I have a Breitling Transocean that I am thinking of taking in for valuation since I've only worn it once or twice since I got my AW, but it was a gift to myself with my first work bonus so I am hesitant since it has sentimental value... I may just keep it around even if it seems like a waste.

Keep it. Your Breitling value will make it not worth it to sell back.

"The latest report from research firm Canalys today puts estimates of Apple Watch sales at around 6 million units and $2.6 billion in revenue. This would mean the company took almost 80% of total revenue for the smartwatch market last quarter. It would also represent around 12% year over year growth for Apple Watch sales."

So I have an Omeda SeaMaster ceramic which I love and I decided to try the space black which I also really like.
Keeping both isn't an option and now I'm torn. I'd misssome funcationality keep the Omega but love the timeless look of the SeaMaster. What do I do?

Keep both because your Seamaster resale is not as good as you want it to be. Keep it for your kids or special occasions.

+1

I haven't sold off my other watches for two main reasons:

- most are gifts and heirlooms, so I'd feel terrible selling them;

- they're useful for times when I don't want a smartwatch. Special occasions, spending a lot of time away from a charger (like when my wife had surgery), off days when I just want to disconnect, etc.

3 people on the floor in my office have Apple watches, 2 didn't even wear a watch before. I'm not sure wearables will ever be in direct competition with traditional timepieces, they both go on your wrist but that's about where the similarities end. Who needs a watch to tell the time when your phone's probably never more than 6 feet away from you?

Taking the tack of the recent exchange between Thai and Relentless Power --

If I had to give up either my AW or my better traditional watch... TBH, I'd give up the AW. The good regular watch is much more set-and-forget and more versatile, even if it's not more functional. The AW is great at its job, and I'll likely always have a smartwatch from here on out, but it's not indispensable, either.

This comment has appeared a lot on watch forums. The counter argument is, there's only so much space on the wrist, and someone would either wear one or the other (excepting the nut jobs who'll wear both). They may not compete for the same function, prestige, or price bracket, but they definitely compete for the same location.

I'll add another --

I opined earlier about what I'd do if I had to give up one or the other.

But if I had to sell?

Am I selling because I need the cash? If so, I'd sell the one that'll get me the most money. In maka344's case, that's definitely the Omega. I could keep using the AW and get a sub-$100 watch as an alternate.

I just hopped from android to iPhone after a couple of years. I'm one who can cope on either os fine.

Only right i try the Apple Watch. I picked up an S1 today and so far i like it! Much better than the pebble i had... and the Fitbit i tried.

I sold my watches going down to one when i got my Rolex. Didn't wear anything else. Let's see how this pans out.

Here is the competition.

EDIT, the Rolex won. Apple watch was a novelty and has gone to a new owner. Back on android after two weeks as well.

Nice, I do like the Air King. My last 2 Rolex's Im getting rid of are going tomorrow which just leaves me the Hublot and the AW. A couple of non swiss ones too but they were gifts so regardless of value wont be going anywhere.

Anyone want a Fitbit pmsl :D

Nice. I had one very similar to this. Sold it years ago, as it was in need of some costly repairs. One of the few Watches I wished I had kept and repaired it. Although, I walked away with a decent dividend.

And the Apple Watch Series 1 compared to a Pebble is vastly different. Pebble tried to compete, but failed to innovate and fell flat. Which they were purchased by Fitbit. All in all, Even Fitbit doesn't touch Apple in the aesthetic department.

IF you like the Apple Watch, then will you keep the Rolex or sell it?

A no-date Air King, Explorer, or Oyster Perpetual are among my top several choices for a nice companion for my AW.

G-Shock, AW, and OP39mm in blue, and I'd be done.

For me, a date is a MUST...i keep on forgetting the damn date! Heck, if they have the DAY on the watch, the better!! Symmetry of dial be damn!

Which model G-Shock? Those are not to far off price point, pending which model.
