For me, a date is a MUST...i keep on forgetting the damn date! Heck, if they have the DAY on the watch, the better!! Symmetry of dial be damn!

Not having a date window means one less thing to set after it runs down. I don't really want to use a winder, so my automatics normally need to be reset when I get them out of the box.

IF you like the Apple Watch, then will you keep the Rolex or sell it?

I will definitely keep the Rolex. Different enough to keep both. I feel mechanical watches be it Swiss or a humble Seiko 5 have soul. I love the high beat movement and sound in the Air King. Tech is instantly outdated when replaced however, Rolex and others are timeless and will outlast their owner with care and servicing.

I used to own a Seiko Automatic, Casio Waveceptor (not Swiss I know) but it has replaced them both. I can't go back to a normal watch ever again! Well, just in case I have a brand new Orient I purchased from Kyoto for £60 (and it has Sapphire crystal).

I was so close to buy an expensive Swiss watch but it seems a bit pointless now. There is something amazing about a mechanical watch but they are ridiculously overpriced.

Slowly, I'm falling out of love with the Apple Watch - it doesn't see much wrist time unless I'm deliberately tracking a walk. I will keep it, though, as there's nothing else quite like it.

Call me mad but as well as the Tissot and Hamilton automatics, I now own a Tag Formula 1 - just the basic version but still quite expensive: And it is quartz, too, which many would see as silly for the price paid. I was getting fed up, though, with the + 20 seconds a day of the Tissot; the Hamilton is much more accurate.

I am sure that you know this...but your Tissot is easily adjusted by any watchmaker for a small fee. It is quick fix too since most watchmakers have a timing machine.

Yes, I took it into the AD today. They're going to send it to Tissot which won't cost me anything. It's possible I got it magnetised somehow.

+20 sec/day doesn't sound fast enough to be magnetized (it'd be more like 20 minutes per day), but I'll bet it'll be the first thing they check anyway. It should come back fine.

My Apple Watch will be left at home tomorrow as I am prototype building and product testing. My beaten up Casio will be my weapon of choice as I know it'll take more than a few bangs during the day. Inexpensive Japanese will replace...

Agreed. Tissot watches (most i believe if not all) do not go to COSC for regulation...so, they are un-regulated movements that gets cased and sent to ADs. Even COSC-certified movements get out of whack too...been there with my old Omega. The newer Omegas and Rolexes are more accurate out of the box because they get regulated AFTER the movement is cased and ready to ship.

It seems my expensive Swiss watches are replacing the AW; today I bought this Rado Centrix Diamonds:

I'll wear the AW on my right wrist if I'm tracking a walk, but I prefer normal watches for telling the time. The Rado is the most expensive watch I've ever purchased, (£1030 - an automatic version is around £1400 though I've gone off autos a bit as they always run down when not worn) but with its ceramic and stainless steel this seems to be built like a tank. I like, also, how minimalist it is. I sold the Hamilton so have the Visodate, the Tag Formula 1 and this.

Wow. I'm looking into this Watch today. Very nice simplistic design and elegant looking. I like the combination of the Ceramic/Stainless. Gorgeous picture.

That does look very nice!!

As mentioned in this thread earlier I sold some of my watches, however in typical me fashion I brought 2 more from them. I'm a nightmare but I have to say that I am wearing them more than my AW at the moment.

my IWC Portuguese has been catching dust for the past two years or so. I may have only worn it once or twice when going out to formal occasions. my other Tag hasn't been touched at all either.

Watches can be a very dangerous habit to support. I can attest to this, as I likely have one to many.

I don't have a rolex (and if I ever had the money to buy one I'd probably wouldn't buy anyway). However I have a nice nixon watch that I never wear anymore so I am debating on selling it and putting money towards an apple watch which I would obviously wear a lot more.

I just am not sure if I should wait for a new version considering if I buy now, the resale value appears to not be great for past watch versions (correct me if I am wrong, just going off of what some people said on the forums).

The resale for the Apple Watch Has dropped dramatically, due to market saturation. The First generation Apple Watch really does not hold too much value. Even the Series 1/Series 2 watches drop rather significantly. That's just how technology is.

If you've waited this long, you might as well wait until September. By that time, or as we get closer, we should have more of an idea if we will see a Series 3 Apple Watch. And it's only rumor at this point, to have some minor enhancements. But the Series 1/Series 2 is still a great Apple Watch if you choose to go with one of the current models.

They dropped in value right away. I picked up 3 of them off swappa not too long after release when supply was constrained and they were supposedly hard to find. I'd say the SS models were very easy to get for $100 or so off the retail price, many times with extra accessories, AppleCare and no sales tax.

I agree on waiting. Only reason I bought the ss series 2 yesterday was because I sold my series 2 alum and series 0 ss so I didn't pay outta pocket for it.

The series 2 alum I bought through my work with a massive discount plus coupons so I only paid 90$ for it. I made out good. Sucks we don't sell the ss though.

For me, the $200.00 price difference was worth it for the stainless. The Stainless just feels like a Watch to me, when the aluminum is just too light. But this aluminum sport model is plenty durable and is still a nice watch.

Couldn't agree more. I missed my ss so much the alum wasn't cutting it for me. Well worth the extra money imo. I wasn't interested in using it as a walking tracker etc. I wanted it more as a watch x jewelry piece.

Agreed. I think it's the weight of the watch that gives it the actual feel of something substantial. And I just like matching the bands better with the stainless over the aluminum model.
