Cruel Fate!

I just recieved a call from my apartment's front office; they called to let me know that I just recieved a package at the desk. I've been checking my order status all day, and it still says "Prepared to Deliver." Of course I KNEW it couldn't be my new MBP...nonetheless, my heart skipped a beat the second they said "package." I ran downstairs and...

Mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. I ordered it the same day as the MBP but obviously haven't been giving it any thought, entirely forgot about it.

I'm pathetic >.<

Hehehe funny :D I so empathise.

So the first FedEx flight that the Anchorage arrivals could connect to just departed: FDX14 to Memphis.

Anyone who's had their laptop scan in at Anchorage have it scan out on its way down to the lower 48 yet? If so, it's on that plane! :)

Couple other MEM flights, an EWR, and an OAK scheduled in this outbound bank from ANC for the next couple hours so far... (May have to page back or forth to find the FDX flights if you load this later.)

I looked on the website but couldn't find any FedEx flights that left today from PVG (ie Saturday morning Shanghai time).. does that mean that the computers are not going to ship out today or do they not use FedEx flights?

My package 'left FedEx origin facility' at 4:30AM shanghai time..I was assuming that it was on a flight, but I guess maybe it's just sitting in Shanghai? Do you have any idea when I can expect my package? (I am in Texas)

I live in Colorado, and my expected delivery date is 4/20! Just in time to smoke some medicine.

I just ordered a new model 13" 2.4 model from Amazon with overnight delivery for $1159.99. Scheduled to be here tomorrow!

Don't mean to be gloomy, just realistic. I am not expecting my 17" CTO anytime soon. UK airspace is still pretty much closed as is the case in a large part of North Western Europe. Brief windows are opening up in Northern Ireland but are expected to close again. Once flights resume there will be one hell of a backlog.

From BBC News:
"Over the next 24 to 36 hours, prevailing winds will shift slightly to drive the central part of the ash plume further to the north toward Scandinavia, according to BBC weather forecaster Matt Taylor.
"However, later this weekend, [the winds] will return to a northwesterly direction and are more likely to bring the risk of ash back to the UK."
Although the winds can be predicted, the crucial factor is how much ash the still-erupting volcano is pumping into the atmosphere."

Starting to have trouble breathing.

FedEx doesn't have anything leaving in the morning Shanghai time. FDX28 to ANC leaves around 9PM and operates Tue - Sat, FDX90 to MEM leaves around 11PM and operates Mon - Fri. I'm only basing this on the flight history info; they could well change the schedule at any time. I'd say chances are your package will go out on FDX28 in about 13 hours, but it could well sit in Shanghai until Monday or later.

For you and pretty much anyone in the US whose package manages it onto tomorrow's flight, I'd guess anywhere from Mon - Wed if expedited, Tue - Fri if not. Keep in mind that even if your package shipped out on Monday, you could still very well receive it on Tuesday. The Shanghai inbound flights are timed to connect to flights to hubs in the continental US in time for them to then connect on to most areas not excessively far from a major city by the morning.

At this point, we don't even know if they're routing any of the packages through Memphis, although it seems they may be from posts from folks who had packages picked up well before the Friday PVG-MEM flight with no scans after that. I'm curious to see if anyone gets a scan in ~3.5 hours when FDX90 arrives in Memphis, as well as if anyone who's already had their MBP arrive in Anchorage gets a scan of it leaving in the next couple hours... (The latter case making it possible they might be delivered on Saturday.)

I'm still sitting at "Prepared for Shipment", been that way for about 5 hours now... Waiting on a tracking #, and then hopefully a tracking update tomorrow morning if it does go out then.

Mine has been prepared for shipping since early this morning. I was hoping to get it Monday.

15.4/2.4 High-Res AG. It's for school.

WHY!!!?

I'll post an update on my package's scan in about 2 hours (once the PVG-MEM flight lands) and let you know if it ended up going to Memphis. I got an "In transit" scan on 4/17 @ 5:23 am Shanghai time, but no flights were in the air or have left since then -- other than the Memphis flight, so we'll see just what "in transit" really means in a few hours.. Hopefully it's not "in transit to the airport" but is heading to Memphis.

In any case, I don't think anyone will receive Saturday delivery on these. It's a very expensive service and Apple doesn't have a history of having things delivered on a Saturday unless it's a really big new product launch (like OS X Snow Leopard was Saturday delivery where available) -- and these MBP's didn't get more than a press release and an updated website. Although, I would love to be proven wrong and see someone get a Saturday delivery! :)

Yeah, I'm really just curious if they'll do it; I give it about a 1/3 chance. :) It's not actually that expensive; it's generally a $15 surcharge at retail shipping prices within the US. I quoted out a 5lb shipment from Shanghai to me, with a Friday shipping date, and the price with Saturday delivery (so yes, it is available from Shanghai!) converted to $135, or $124 for Monday delivery, both the same International Priority service. The other option was International Economy arriving on Wednesday for $97. (So the Saturday surcharge was only $10 pricing in CNY; the fuel surcharge was about $1 more to explain the disparity.) Of course Apple's going to be paying FedEx far less than $100 per unit...and they probably get a decent discount on stuff like Saturday delivery too. So having the $18 expedite fee cover Saturday delivery on a fairly pricey item isn't unreasonable, in my opinion.

..and here's something else odd. Quoting it with a Saturday ship date is similarly priced, but the arrival date is Monday for both Priority and Economy! With a Monday ship date, it goes to Tuesday and Thursday respectively. And the dates and prices are the same if I get a quote to Anchorage or Memphis, instead of to MA!

FWIW, I just picked up a 15" i7 anti-glare at the NY Upper West Side store - they seemed to have a bunch in stock, and if they do I'm sure the other 3 Manhattan ones are well-stocked too. Canceled an order placed on the 14th that was still showing as "Not yet shipped." The guy threw in free copies of MobileMe and One-On-One too, though I'm not sure if that's an official thing.

Given that there's a big doorman strike looming for next Tuesday which could royally screw up deliveries for a few days, if you're in New York and your MBP hasn't shipped yet it might be worth trying to cancel your order and buy a store model - even worse than waiting for your new notebook to ship would be having it arrive in the city and sit collecting dust in a UPS warehouse for a week.

I checked my tracking info and my accessories' estimated delivery date is Apr 17, 2010.
Is this mean my area is saturday service area?
I live in SF Bay, CA.

I think my laptop is on FDX28. My departure time is stated as 4 minutes different than FDX28 (link).

The page is glitched, because it says the flight arrived in Memphis an hour after it departed. If you look, the normal arrival time is 1AM CDT (2AM EDT). I'll let everyone know at 2AM if mine has arrived.

Yes, I'll be up at 2.

I just ordered a new model 13" 2.4 model from Amazon with overnight delivery for $1159.99. Scheduled to be here tomorrow!

Only 2.5 hours later.........and my new MBP has shipped with a scheduled delivery of TOMORROW! Yay. Amazon owns Apple in shipping speed.

Now this is getting ridiculous.
My MBP has been shipped (albeit without any tracking info, but that happens), I got a copy of my Apple Care certificate by email (so I am 100% sure that my mac exists, as I have a serial now), but I haven't been billed yet.
Is it a compensation for all these years with this horrible macbook?

Being delivered to Brisbane, Australia, ordered Day 1 of launch.

I tried ringing the Apple Store Customer Support number, to see if I could wrangle an upgrade to Expedited Shipping and the customer rep, said that she had no way of upgrading my order to Expedited (but that if she could she would have for free) because none of the 17" CTO have been built yet. She also said that she was in the same waiting boat as me because she had an identical build on order for herself!

I'm upgrading from a 17" MBP 2.16GHz CD 2GB RAM 120GB HD purchased in May 2006 (which is still going strong despite 2 swollen batteries (both of which have been replaced Free-of-Charge by Apple) - I think this will be a substantial upgrade! :) I'm still annoyed that the SuperDrive still hasn't had any significant improvements after all these years, it also would have been nice to have a faster FSB, faster 1333 RAM and of course Bluray!

Has ANYONE in Australia had a similar build ship and arrive yet? 17", i7, 8GB, 7200RPM

Anyone know if there's any flights from AK coming down to Los Angeles?

FDX86 ANC-OAK is the flight your laptop would take out of Anchorage (in the air now, and if you're in the Western US, already hit Anchorage, then got a scan around 6PM PDT, that's probably where your laptop is!); there's nothing direct, and Oakland is the regional hub. From there, it's either a truck down to Los Angeles, or one of several FDX flights into LAX or ONT.

...your friendly bored, flight-obsessed, crazy guy.

Re-filed flight plan, or just random glitch. Tends to correct en-route, or at least after the flight arrives. The properly listed "En Route" one that doesn't actually load when you click on it should at least update the estimated time and status properly, and should be loadable after arrival...

...your friendly bored, flight-obsessed, crazy guy.

psychos, first of all thank you for the service you're providing. Second, do you have any intention of keeping track of the flights once your MBP has been delivered? I ordered my MBP yesterday and I'm expecting it will go "Prepared for shipment" tomorrow or Sunday and then get shipped Monday or Tuesday. It sure would be nice if you kept providing FedEx flight info until then. :)

My said the exact same thing as well...in transit scan at 5:23 am Shanghai time even though the page had said yesterday it was in transit. I will update on my tracking information if anything changes as well.

Have any 17" CTO's shipped

I think i read someone said none of the 17" Custom machines had been built yet. Has ANYONE who ordered one seen their status progress past not shipped yet? Seems like all reports have been on 15" machines.
