Inching closer! Hoping for the midnight flight to IND tonight...

Mine shows the same as well. I do not have expedited shipping and am located in Houston. My expected delivery is April 22, but Im hoping for is sooner!

Mine was picked up in shangai today, sat the 17th. Mine is an applecare replacement, so it says priority shipping, whatever that means.(is this expedited or standard). My estimated delivery to lexington, VA is the 21st. Everything takes about 1 day extra to make it to lexington, VA, so thats not to bad. Hopefully it comes soon. The order was placed on thursday

My MBP is now back from Germany to China!!!!! anyone else in the same situation?

Hey paintballswimgu, I have an applecare replacement from my high-end Early-2008 MBP to a base-model Arrandale MBP too! How did you get the tracking number? The lady at the AppleStore told me that she cannot give me the delivery information - WTF?! I'm in the UK btw and I ordered it on 14th what about you?

P/S: I think everyone else are given Priority shipping.

How do you know who is delivering your new macbook pros?

on the apple site all it says is:

Shipped on: Apr 17, 2010 via Merge in Transit GB

and then if I go to the tracking number link it displays :

Shipped to SHEFFIELD, GB 17 Apr 2010

Estimated Delivery Date (Subject to change) 05 May 2010 (Subject to change)

Current Delivery Status Shipment dispatched 17 Apr 2010

Signed by

and thats it!!!! Am I missing something? please help it's been on this now for about 12 hours!

Seems mine was about 3 hours behind yours right up to the export scan then mine must have missed a truck to the sorting facility. Now I am a couple of days behind.

What date did they give you for an expected delivery?

They have given me an expected delivery of Monday. Im hoping that since its made the US, that they are driving/flying it overnight up north to Toronto. Otherwise, I dont see how it would get here in time for Monday delivery.

Good morning! And as for "in transit" scans, I haven't seen anything other than a bunch of Apr 17, 2010 5:53 PM In transit Shanghai CN (china time).. That's the last one I have too. I'm assuming it's on FDX28 to ANC right now.. will know in a few hours.

Even though I doubt there's any MBP's on the PVG-MEM flight (none have gone that way so far that we know of), it seems crazy they'd fly it halfway around the globe totally empty. That's a LOT of fuel and manhours for an empty plane. It'd be interesting to know where that plane started out before getting to PVG, but I don't see that on FlightAware.

I saw something about how fedex ships packages internationally on the discovery channel. They said that fedex never flys a plane unless its completly full. Just and fyi

There are multiple ANC-MEM flights that get in well before any of the AM bank of outbound flights from MEM (2:30 - 4:30AM generally) depart, even if PVG-ANC is a couple hours late. Same goes for routing through ANC-IND as well.

Good to know - with reports of shipments being picked up from the factory in Shanghai 5+ hours before PVG-ANC leaves and still missing the deadline I didn't know how much time FedEx needs to get packages on an outbound flight. I'm trying to get some evidence of how much time is needed to put the package on a flight once it arrives at the shipping center and how much of the "missing the deadlines" reports were because of full flights/custom paperwork delays/holding to not deliver early.

(Btw, if you're in Plano in 75025, you're in the same zip code as my parents... amusing coincidence. :))

Yep, that's my zip code. Now if only I get a few more coincidences and my MBP gets to me on Tuesday or Wednesday. :D

I just have to say, as bad as it is, it's kinda hilarious to see NATURAL DISASTER in a tracking scan. Perhaps you'll see some VOLCANO SCANs in the next few days. :)

But your package never actually went to Germany... The scan it has listed there was just a customs processing scan of some sort, which shows up as Germany because it was transmitted to UPS there, or because that's where the clearance is for. Just data being transmitted, no actual package being scanned...

Definitely not true. They certainly TRY to fill planes as much as they can (delaying 2 and 3 day air packages is a big part of that, which explains some of the odd routing and delays you sometimes see when tracking such packages.) But they have scheduled flights and stick fairly closely to them. Look at KMEM activity around 3 - 4AM early morning on a weekday sometime; you'll see a ridiculous number of flights to all points in the US, almost all heading outbound. (It's actually really busy right now even because there's a big bank of Saturday afternoon flights that just went out.) And if you click on any of those, you'll notice that they pretty much all operate at the same time every day (or at least Mon - Fri.) The load most certainly varies from day to day on those flights. Now, stuff between major hubs, yeah that's probably much more likely to be near full on a regular basis.

Ah, I see... My hard drive failed three days after it got replaced, so they gave me a replacement automatically, without any tracking number unfortunately. So you got the base model as well, same here but I will try my luck to get the 17" with the ExpressSlot3/4 reason. ;)

Thanks for the clarification. You are probably right. However, the tracking system is misleading, customers don't care about the location of the "data" transmitted, the tracking is supposed to tell me the location of the parcel.

Yay, just woke up, checked my order, and it has been Prepared for Shipment!

Ergh, I've looked up way too many of these such that I know most of this off the top of my head... kinda sad. :)

No flights from ANC to IAH/HOU, nor are there flights from DFW to IAH/HOU. Routing would likely be ANC-MEM-IAH. Or they might just fly it into MEM, or perhaps DFW or another nearby airport, and stick it on a truck for a couple days especially since you're not expedited.

But FDX1155 goes from Alliance Airport (cargo only airport about 25 miles from DFW):
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/FDX1155

It might go ANC-MEM-DFW-(truck)-AFW-IAH just to burn time (and maybe balance cargo payloads among planes) but ANC-MEM-IAH does seem the easier route. Then again, the more I'm reading about cargo carriers the most I'm starting to believe routes are not determined by what appears to be the fastest time or the shortest distance. Instead they employee a secret council of wizards that make use of black magic to determine where to route your package. ;)

You'de think if they would make these Macbooks in the United States we would recieve them faster (for those of us in the US).

I also called Apple - no dice on getting expedited shipping charge refunded. What are you guys saying so you can get a refund or an upgrade??

Just be nice, tell them you are upset that it took much longer then you expected.

I think part of it depends on you talking to the right/nice person.

The person I spoke to not only credited me for the expedited shipping, she also gave me a free case for my MBP

For anyone who didn't buy 2 day shipping I suggest you call customer support and ask about your shipment. I was given free 2 day delivery.

I was nice or at least decent, and I still got shot down. :(

Exact same situation! Waspretty disppointed to see it wasn't in Germany, but at least they're hopefully leaving China! Does anyone have any idea where they might be going? Possible redirected somewhere? Am guessing they still can't land in Germany just like the UK.

Mine has been in transit from CN for days...

Excellent reasoning; glad you're having fun with it. :) And I think you're dead on with how they decide to route stuff!

However, I doubt it's going through AFW (I thought of that too having noticed AFW-IAH flights last night. :)) With both FedEx and UPS, once you're off the air network and onto a truck on the ground network, you're staying on the ground. They just don't move things via ground and put them on another airplane, other than perhaps in rare and unusual situations.
