Just over two weeks after I purchased my 15" MBP, it fell out of my bag and onto the parking lot at school. I had it in not only a Speck case but also an Incase Neoprene Sleeve. The zipper in the sleeve took all of the focused energy from the fall and punched a monster dent in the right front corner of my once beautiful Mac. What baffles me is that I didn't notice it until I took the Speck case off that night! How did the Speck case not break? I mean it was like taking a metal spike to the (strong) corner of the case but only doing damage to the computer and leaving the case unharmed! AH IM SO PISSED JUST THINKING ABOUT IT!

My Speck case has never caused any scratches or blemishes. My MBP is an early 2011 and I put the case on a week after I got this mac. I travel with this machine daily.

I have had the back cover off 2 or 3 times which might explain any blemishes (if there are any).

the reaosn people bitch about the speck scratching the macbook is that they dont take the dam thing off every so often to clean it.

its not the case tat scratches the macbook, its the dust and **** that collects between the case and macbook

i had my macbook for 7 months and take the case off once a week for cleaning. my macbook is mint new the day i got it and the case has done its job

to the poster above, the speck case does flex but ur dent is prob better than what would have happened without the spekc on

I've just taken my Speck shell off today and underneath was awful, luckily a clean of the Macbook got rid of all the nasties and luckily it was scratched I'm definitely going to start cleaning it on a more regular basis!

Moshi clear keyboard cover is excellent btw. I have a Wrapsol on mine that keeps it amazing, but I just ordered a black satin speck. I'll post results as to how it fits etc when I get it.

Magic?

Be warned, once it's on, it's a pain to get off. Managed to snap my back bit by trying to get it off. :(
This is a very common problem.

Many of us at work use MBP's, I'm one of just three people that choose to use my MacBook Pro as it was designed to be used, without plastic covers or skins etc.

After a couple of years, it remains dent & scratch free, looking as good as day one, I've enjoyed not having it covered up.

Obviously the case makers products appeal to the paranoid or OCD, they make lots of money selling these accessories, yet why not just relax & enjoy your Mac? Apple has made them durable & very stylish. Covering it up defeats the purpose of a nice design.

Also, to further add my speckcase did damage my laptop. Where dust and bits has got in it, when taking it off, it marked all the sides.

I see your point. But it's kind of like putting a black vinyl bra on the nose of your Miata; You just want to keep it "bug free" for a little while at least…

But my black vinyl bra didn't do a damn thing when I ran into a tree…

But I'm complaining. I am fortunate that my Mac still works… And it always helps when I see my friends MBP that he uses on a daily basis, which has a giant spiderweb on the screen...
