Got my 2.4GHz glossy 15" today. Delivered today (Monday) instead of Wednesday as scheduled! Thank you, FedEx! Reinstalling OSX now! yay!

I got my 17" HR exactly at 10:30am this morning. Unpacked it, went through the welcome wizard thing, and checked it out for about 5 minutes. Then I had to turn it off and go in to work :(

From what I saw though the 1920x1200 resolution is freaking amazing. I was worried things would be too small but it's perfect IMO. Can't wait till this evening to actually use the thing :)

How frustrating! After speaking to Apple first thing this morning and being told it was IN the UK and likely to be delivered tomorrow (12th)... I phoned back this evening as the tracking still shows it over the ocean somewhere. They now insist that it hasn't arrived in the UK but still shows on track for delivery on the 13th. She didn't offer to phone TNT, but gave me the details to contact them.

Speaking to TNT it definitely hasn't arrived in the UK and the target is the 13th. :(

So did the woman this morning just make up this whole story?! (She seemed so nice/helpful as well!)

Notice that some people are re-installing the OS. Is there a reason to do this instead of just starting it up and running through the wizard? Just new at this. Thanks:)

Reinstalling?

I am supposed to receive my very first mac wednesday (in 2 days) and I was wondering why so many people reinstall Mac OSX as soon as they receive their MBP !?!?

As I said I'm a new mac owner so I dont know much... Thanks

nevermind.. answered while I was registering for the forum...

perhaps you would like to share with the forum then for those that do not know or to be sure you, in fact, understand why.

Nah only if you wanna cut out some features like languages and what not.
that is what I understood. Basically get rid of features you dont want/need that came preinstalled on your new machine

Yeah macs are never boated like lots of PC laptops from the big vendors, but there are a few things you can cut out by doing a reinstall or with some of those third-party apps for removing languages. No big deal and not enough of a reason to wipe and reinstall.

15in Glossy MBP Stolen already??

Well my 2.4 15in MBP should have been delivered this morning...

Called Fedex a few times after the tracking updates suspiciously stopped coming. After the 3rd call, they told me that they don't know where the package is and assume it is lost.

Called Apple to tell them. The 'Lost Package Dept' will contact me in 24-48 hours at which time they will probably tell me that they'll ship me another one from China.

Not sweet.

If you're near a store it'd probably be easier just to go pick one up! Sorry to hear your bad news though. :(
