Heh, okay. Just saw quite a few around my number with the same information. Mine has just updated though!

I ordered mine initially on June 5th, the day they came out. My initial order said shipping July 18, as mine seemed to be one of the 4-6wk delay due to the 7200rpm drive. Heard some people had theirs shipped so I called back. Apple suggested cancelling the old order and ordering again. So, I ordered early June 12, and it was shipped at 2300 my time the next day! Shipping via Fedex to Washington state in the US.

Do you know that tons of people here are hating your right now? :D:p

Do those waiting have a reference number of the form 80545535XX?

Is it the reference number that you see right next to the tracking number? If thats so, then my reference number is totally different- the reference number on mine is my phone number... does that make any sense?

apparently a LOT of MBPs are on backorder from Shanghai and we can expect delays of up to 1 WEEK!! that's what the apple store person that I just talked to told me. I really can't believe that this is happening and no one told us of this status when we ordered them through the store. and the store guy said that I should have received an email about the delays and that maybe I should check the "spam" folder. and I don't even have a tracking number yet.

Are you sure yours is in the same batch? Left shanghai on 10th June at 18:12.

Mine has left Shanghai at 18:12 june 10th. Jorasho and I are waiting on the same batch (we both live in Enschede, the Netherlands, wich is less then 1,5 hour from Arnhem). We both didn't get an update on the TNT site, but maybe that's because we're using the Dutch site? Who knows...

I am using the English site, so that cannot be the case. (I mean, the wonderful Delivery Status widget directs me to the English TNT page). Would also be strange if they have different databases for different countries.

(Slightly offtopic: why is the Dutch Apple site still not in the new design?)

Mine should be touching down in CA any minute. I guess based upon all the times we have brother (or sister) MacBook Pro's!

Out for delivery! Shanghai to Virginia in 1 day. NIIIIICE

Well, I just got mine. (w00t!)

I suspect that any Canadians who's shipment left Shanghai last Friday (the 8th) will be receiving their orders today.

I haven't taken it out of the box yet as I've had it delivered to work.

EDIT: curiosity got the best of me. I opened it.

The packing crate had a small dent in one of the sides, but there's no noticeable damage to the MBP retail box. Internal packaging was typical apple - impeccable.

The machine itself... opened fine, no creaks, squawks or weird noises. Keyboard seems fine, but it's very different from my TiBook's and will take some getting used to. NO DEAD PIXELS!

There are two minor phsical oddities:

1) the trackpad button doesn't sit flush with the case (about 1 mm higher) and it has a sharp edge. I'm not sure if this is normal, but it is _very_ different from my TiBook's button and will take some getting used to.

2) When the lid is closed, the left edge of the screen is warped (very) slightly and doesn't close flush with the case (~1 mm gap) whereas the right side sits flush.

That's it. At this point, without having done anything but go through the setup process, check the screen, and shut it down, it seems great. So far so good.

So after a 50 minute phone call with the apple store people and a supervisor I have the extension of the supervisor for direct contact and at least she gave me no bs and actually seemed positive about wanting this experience to go as smoothly as possible, no doubt because the pending contract of hundreds of developer connections and could reflect very badly on the people that I have dealt with and the degree of their assistance.
The bottom line: the orders are ALL from Shanghai and in the past week there have been a few plane breakdowns so that's why some of the shipments have been delayed. There seems to be no central warehouse that stocked that Apple stores before the announcement, which I still don't think is true, else Apple has some inefficient inventory management people stocking their stores. Once the order reaches the US, it has to sit in customs, but that can be as little as a few hours. Also, the shipping (standard, second day, standard overnight) doesn't seem to matter, as they get to your destination in 2-3 days, but usually takes about a day or two tops, once it's actually on US soil. YMMV..

actually you may find more info via the US site. I certainly got more into logging in via that than the UK one.

between the time you got a message saying "prepared for shipment" and the time you got a fedex tracking number indicating that it had actually shipped, how long was the wait? same day?

Ordered mine at 10am PST on the 12th, stock 2.4 with matte screen + spare battery/power adapter and airplane adapter. At the time, the site quoted shipping in 1-3 days.

Accessories arrived this morning at my office in Nashville, so I decided I should check the status of my laptop, when I was greeted by this:

MBP 15/2.4/2X1GB/160-5400/256VRAM-USA
MA896LL/A

Ships by: Jun 26
Delivers by: Jun 29

 Aside from how a 1-3 day estimate when I ordered it turns into 14 days, how can it be that they are still offering 3-5 day shipments? Is this just a case of overestimation, or should I really expect that my laptop really won't ship until the 26th?

Not sure if you are talking to me, but I never got the "prepared for shipment" thing. It said my ship window was June 13th - 15th, and I woke up this morning with the email waiting for me - it had been sent at 12:50AM. I tracked it and it is already in FedEx's system.

Guess it might have been about 35 minutes earlier if the 12:15 is when it was prepped and transmitted to FedEx...

Yes, I am glad I didn't pay for the extra fast shipping. Sent out today, supposed to be delivered on Monday the 18th (estimate). So, even if I had paid for 2-3 day shipping they don't deliver on the weekend.

Actually FedEX does deliver on Saturdays. No Sunday shipments though. And international shipping happens on Sundays as well.
