Haswell Prediction Poll: Sept? dGPU?

Now is the time to officially stand behind your predictions for the Haswell release!

We're fairly certain about 802.11ac and PCIe; One of the more vigorous rumor matches involves the inclusion of a dGPU in the Haswell rMBP.

Take this public poll and post your prediction for the approximate announcement date and if a dGPU will be a BTO option anywhere in the Haswell rMBP lineup.

I won't include this in the poll, but if you're inclined, make your prediction about the endangered panda of screen rumors - IGZO.

I have to agree. I've said October all along and nothing in the last two weeks has led me to believe we'll see anything MBPr related.

I still believe that Apple will hold a 'Mac' event that will include Mavericks and any Mac related computers (MPs, MBPrs, Mini...whatever). It would make a really nice Mac Event just in time for Christmas.

I think 09/10 is going to be an iDevice only show.

Before you flame me, remember that I want the MBPrs as badly as you do. I just don't think we'll see them on 09/10.

That's what makes me most pessimistic about a dGPU. But then again, did we see a geekbench of all the current configurations of the rMBP before it was released?

Yea, and I feel like if the 15" did include a dGPU. It would be HD 4600 + dGPU. And not Iris 5200 + dGPU

And since the geekbench leaks showed us that the 15" included the 5200, I imagine that it will be the only GPU available in the 15" rMBP

There are hardly any notebooks with the 5200 alone, let alone with a dgpu. But there are no technical limitations that would not allow such a combination.

eg.

The 5200 is well off the previous generation 650M. I know the 750M isn't a HUGE increase, but the potential for having 2GB VRAM is there with the 750M.

It is a pro machine, having iGPU only would rule out the machine for use by many professionals including someone like me who needs it for video editing.

As Anand concludes

"For the past few years Intel has been threatening to make discrete GPUs obsolete with its march towards higher performing integrated GPUs. Given what we know about Iris Pro today, I'd say NVIDIA is fairly safe."

I vote for October and No (with dGPU). I would say they are delaying since they are reducing in tickness and are having problems with excess heat. All the best, Rom
