This is probably true and has been my experience in the past. They do tend to be conservative and I hope we get before 11/17.

It does seem, however, that corporate looked at bottom line when distributing units to local stores. They wanted to sell to walk in customers knowing they already captured pre-order sales with us. Problem is our pre-orders represent die-hard customers who got up in the middle of the night to get X on launch day. We are still waiting till that 11/17-24 date while our friends enjoy their new, shiny X.

I understand the frustration, I’m feeling it too. But, think about it, any company will prefer walk-in customers over online orders. They are sending clear message: Go to a store and buy it. Enjoy the experience.

They sure hate the long lines outside the stores, but they love walk-in customers. So, this year, the decided to stock up the stores to void the lines.

The minority (us) who don’t have a nearby Apple Store, wait for a under-promised date, and be happy when it arrives 2 weeks before.

It makes sense to me, and if I was leading Apple I would do the same thing.

None of you have an Apple Store or cell phone provider store nearby where you can just cancel the online order and go pick up in store? That’s what I did with Verizon.

No closest apple store is 100 miles east (Indianapolis) and 150 miles north (Chicago) so many of us have to do online preorders -- cannot reserve and run that far on launch day -- besides I was 12 past hour and stuck in the 17-24 hell for long time, then got bumped end of last week to November 6 so was not really worth having a phone in store when we are on apple upgrade program and got late dates to start. At least mine is here tomorrow and thats not to bad. Now I cannot speak for those still in 17-24 hell and what will change this week but a lot of us just do not have luxury of apple store and if you are on apple upgrade then you cannot use local carrier store as far as I know

Sadly, no. Apple has refused to open a store in South America for years.

I totally get it from a business standpoint. Just tough from customer service issue for those who are on 2-3 week wait while others get their devices. I’ve been down this road past ten years with them and this year is a bit different. Eventually we will all have our orders though

Units have been few past several days around me. My other issue is I jumped on bogo deal at AT&T for iPhone 8 with purchase of X for a family member. Hate to cancel or it might mess up this promo offer.

I honestly think we could also blame the "supply restrictions" rumors that came before 10/27. I think it caused some kind of "I want it now" effect on many people. I've seen folks who just got an iPhone 8 desperate to get the X, just because they thought it was going to be impossible to get one. That wave of compulsive buyers is dissolving now, and I think we will see the resulting effect this week.

That doesn't really bother me as much as someone who ordered after me gets a shipment email while me ordering a full 2+ days before is still stuck in processing.

It should be first in first out.. not random picking.. please tell me what's the reason to preorder? maybe in a carrier or in Apple's way a preorder means something different to them.

Add to that the IUP vs paid in full issue too. I get it that someone who ordered a different color or 64G vs 256G after me might get theirs sooner if my choice was more popular or backordered. But comparing apples to apples should be first in first out.

I agree, it should be FIFO. And the IUP preference is just not fair. But, it has been a loooong weekend, and the anxiety plays with our minds. I'm sure we will forget all this as soon as we get our phone :) My order has a 12/1-8 delivery date, PIF... so you will be getting it before I do.

you will be sharing pictures of your X very soon.

Ah. You will get your X just in time for the launch of iMac Pro! FYI - I did PIF too.

I already have the case, screen protector, and my AirPods are coming this week. Do you have any idea how odd it is to put my 6s on the case and try to imagine that it is my X? lol Anxiety sucks.

It's bad enough the camera in my 6+ has been going out ever since they had that recall for certain serial numbers but mine was not included but I had the bad optical camera so my camera view shakes and the camera makes a sound.. Also for the fact my phone is 16Gb and I pretty much had to delete much of my stuff just to be able to keep apps updated or so on..

Never bothered to upgrade to iOS 11.

So I’m still stuck with a Nov 15-22 shipping date for my Silver 256 X. I wish Southern CA/Orange County had more stock so I could get more mine and cancel the preorder...

I got a two day bump for the 17-24 when I called Apple to reserve my place in line because of AT&T’s delays preorder night. There reservation page wasn’t working and I was afraid my ordered would be cancelled so they gave me two extra days..I’d rather have a ship date of 11/6 though...

Irvine Spectrum had availability this morning; I got on the Apple Store app at 6AM sharp and there were two stores that had stock - Irvine and Glendale. I promptly cancelled my order which was 11/17-11/24 and paid on the app for pickup at store. I don't think I was even in the store more than 5 minutes. You should try doing what I did; you'll probably get it a lot sooner. You have to get on there right at one 6AM, though. Stock was depleted and all stores showed "Unavailable" about 15 minutes or so later.

I have the feeling that I'll be making a similar statement in a year, since I went for the 64gb X o_O

Just checked mine a few minutes ago and it’s now at PFS and my card is pending a charge. Date still says 16-24 tho. I’m sure that will change soon too.
Are you IUP or AT&T next, etc?

I think that after this week we will see the big picture. I can predict that all pre-orders will be shipped between 11/8 and 11/17, including those like me with 12/1-8 delivery estimate. Most people are getting the iPhone in stores and canceling their orders.

Apple has always under-promised and over-delivered. Most people get their stuff 2 weeks before the promised date.
I pray you are right. The wait is killing me, this is my first preorder and its going terrible

I'm getting more annoyed, ive been told to check the apple website at 6:00am to see if they there is any "available for Pickup" from the store in London UK but none in stock yet?

ive been checking for last 10 mins

what I should do?

buy Apple Care. it’s an extra $200 but worth it in the grand scheme of things.

the minute I had my phone in my hands I put a Zagg glass protector and a case.

Cancelled my preorder, ship date was November 17-24th. I ordered yesterday morning from Apple.com, was able to get everything I wanted & picked it up in the store that afternoon! It took less than 1/2 hour. I will never, ever preorder again! I got my phone a day after launch so I’m happy. Good luck to everyone waiting for your preorder. My advice.....Try in store pick up. I can honestly say this phone is amazing!

Some more humor, while we deal with this preorder b.s... :)

The last scene with the “notch” haircut is hilarious as hell!
Something in that video annoys me what Apple does if you don't have enough space to take a picture why in hell does the screen need to be blank??

Still no charge and no movement at all - I think I will cancel it and hunt for it in our local carriers.

Here in Bahrain we don’t have an Apple Store - carriers are getting very limited quantities - I kept hunting the 7+ for more than 6 weeks.

This year when I decided to pre-order from Apple & pay additional shipping - the devices are widely available in Stores! This batch has sold out but they told me next stock is coming on Sunday.. which will be faster than my online order even if Apple shipped and delivered mine this week - I will still need another 4 days to ship it to me :) so yeah... cancelling & I don’t think I will bother with the Online Pre Ordering ever again.

I could’ve even gotten it on Friday if I went early enough... but I was sure I was going to see a movement in my order during the weekend!
