So apparently they do Saturday deliveries. UPS just updated my delivery date to the 18th

Why is UPS what appears to be the dominant carrier on this rollout when FedEx has been utilized in previous years as the go to carrier?

Just got an email from UPS that my package has been rescheduled for Saturday delivery. Yes, that's right.

I would be ecstatic, except I'm going out of town tonight until Sunday. Thankfully I will have a housesitter to accept the package. I can't say for certain, but this might be the result of me contacting Apple today and complaining about their missing their delivery date of Nov. 17th. They may have reached out to UPS to request this upgrade.

To be fair my packaged shipped on the 8th. It has been significantly delayed a few times in the process. So, it could be UPS doing it on their own to keep to the 10-day limit that Apple holds them to. Or it could have been Apple customer service.

Either way, pretty damn cool and worth sharing.

Did yours originally ship on the 8th like mine?

I'm betting this is UPS trying to cover their asses, and not exceed the 10-day limit as stipulated by Apple.

When was your initial ship date? It would be cool if I could pay to upgrade mine if Apple doesn't do it.

NVM...just saw your post above mine!

The 8th.

Saturday is the 18th which is precisely 10 days - the max that Apple allows UPS. I think it is UPS doing it on their own to keep within their window. They probably face hefty fines or have to credit Apple when they exceed the window. Who knows how their contract works, but I know it is 10 days.

UPS's loss, but your gain!!!

Here is my full history thus far. Still mad at myself for getting so excited about UPS97 when I was still sitting near Sarah Palin's house this whole time.

Not that it really matters, but mine shipped on 11/9 China time (well, 11/8 if by EST?) and 10 days is Sunday via China -- I'm not scheduled until Tuesday now. I can see Monday, but it's past that 10-day mark regardless of what date they go off of.

Yeah that's pretty bad, and UPS is probably going to bite the big one for such a lapse.

The whole launch has been a mess. Bush League

Truth!!!

Also, on the topic of Saturday deliveries. 11/20 was my ship date from Apple, but UPS is stating at least in the email they sent me this morning that it will be delivered on 11/22, however, the website is telling me "Scheduled delivery information is not available at this time. Please check back later." The reason for that COULD be to see if they can get it to me Saturday, but I have a feeling mine will get here Monday, no way is Apple/UPS (whichever one) is letting that go two days past my quoted ship date.

I would love to get upgraded to Saturday delivery but I am not sure there is time. I mean the plane with my phone lands in ANC in 1 hour 20 minutes. Honestly, it could land and get on one of the 8 flights to Louisville tonight and then go from there up here to NY in time for Saturday delivery. I will not hold my breath. UPS=Bush League All-Stars.

I'm curious to something -- you're coming into ANC on UPS67 and some of us on the east coast are hoping to hitchhike on that flight into Louisville. I wonder if those who were on last night's UPS97 are in different parts of the country. So, they held us in Alaska so when UPS67 gets to Louisville, it's a full load that's coming east. I'm in Boston.

If that's not the case, then I really have no clue how UPS logistics works. I just don't understand how something can ship 10 days ago still isn't at the destination. This is borderline slower than buying some copyright-infringing knockoff product off Amazon that's made in China.

I'm just asking this out of curiosity: Are you near an Apple store? Did you consider cancelling your order and picking the X up at a local Apple store?
I talked to apple about doing that and to make a long story short, you would likely run into several issues if you tried. As disappointing as it is, you're better off just waiting for your order.

Damn, you got my hopes up! I have the same arrival time in Anchorage but looks like mine is still stuck there.

I just had a 9:47pm departure scan from Anchorage Alaska. Kind of confused about that. Maybe they are just very behind

I like your theory, but I believe PastaPrimav is in New Hampshire & he is scheduled for delivery Sat.
