I bought mine at my carrier's store yesterday to pick up the $300 discount. I got it up and running (restored from iPhone 7+ backup) and was up and running. This is the first iPhone that I've had that will hold a 100% charge overnight in over five years. They cranked up the size of iOS for a couple of years which was a battery life killer. This phone is insanely fast compared to my 7+ and I love the size for running. I will use the 7+ as my backup phone so I have a slightly larger phone if I want but I have an iPad mini 5 which I can grab when I want a larger screen. I'm at home most of the time so this is just a more effective way to go - particularly for running and working out at the gym.

Running shorts typically have no or small pockets and I prefer a zipper pocket and getting the 7+ in and out of a tight zipper pocket scratches up the case. I could have gotten the regular-size iPhone but the screen size difference between the mini and the 7+ is only 0.1 inch. I also got a case with a kickstand so I can watch videos without having to prop it up.

I do hope that Apple keeps making the mini. Maybe sales will be a lot better with this one to get them to continue making them. Or they could make them every other year - I'd be fine with that as well.

Can anyone tell me if there is the Raw option when using camera app on Mini? I know ProRaw isn’t there but I saw a video that made it seem like Raw was still an option.
Only Pro lineup supports Apple ProRaw.

I’m torn on sticking with the PM, as much as I dislike it’s size. We travel a good bit and not worrying about battery is nice. I also do most of my photo editing on my 12PM (Lightroom). If I can shift editing until I get home instead of while out and about.

That is more than I am willing to deal with. The thought of one more extra thing to keep up with does not sound like fun to me. I like the idea of it but I don't think I would enjoy it.
So mini for you. Just wondering how you go from PM to mini 😂

Does anyone who has had the 12 pro or 13pro have any issues seeing text size with the mini? That’s my concern …..

I'm super impressed by the mini. What case did y'all get?

Perhaps I am underestimating consumers, but I don't think this has much to do with the poor sales of the 12 mini. Among the folks likely to post on a site like this, sure, but I think the large numbers that Apple needs would have to come from people that had a chance to react to just the mini's size, and didn't. That's the only superficial difference between the mini and the full-sized 12 or 13. I don't have a good feeling that it will be around beyond this year. Unless the pandemic is what artificially kept sales of just the model low, somehow. Perhaps because people couldn't go to the Apple Store and see and hold it?
In terms of revenue, the 12 mini was 6th in global phone sales. The only non Apple phone above it was the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G. So it brought in more $ than pretty much any flagship from all other manufacturers.

Glad to read this! It's the only issue I have with my 12 mini.
I see an updated Starlight in the near future. -KM
Me too. Didn’t know it was a known issue.

What’s tough is the 13 pro is not much more or larger yet can do much more!
13 Pro costs 42% more and is 44% heavier, so what’s our definition of “not much” here?

Also not sure what more the pro can do… telephoto lens, prores video (which nobody is going to use after the first day), and a higher refresh rate screen?

It can’t do that much more… telephoto lens, bigger battery and a screen refresh rate that most won’t even notice or care about.

Fundamentally it’s the same thing.
camera is not even close! sorry it is just not- someone here in my house has the 13 mini and camera sucks compared to my max..

Do you have any examples/photos you can upload to show the differences between the 13 mini and 13 PM cameras? Many extensive reviews I have seen on YouTube showed that the iPhone 13/13 mini cameras were not far off from the 13 pro (aside from the missing telephoto lens).

I have the iPhone 12 Pro and am considering to downsize to the iPhone 13 Mini.

It’s that aside that’s the rub for me. Otherwise the mini would be an easy choice!

I had the 12 and went to the 13 mini - no regrets whatsoever.

Text size and readability for
were my main concern with the mini. Have had the 12 mini and no issues. Had an 11 and my wife has the 13 pro which I’ve played with a bit. I’ve never once had the “wow it’s a lot easier to read on these bigger screens” thought bubble. I love the mini.
