Just set up my midnight mini, great little phone. Just waiting for it to finish indexing so I can see what the battery is properly like.

I think the mini will surprise a lot of people in sales these next few quarters

why would this be a concern? iOS ensures text size is quite uniform and works for various sizes of iPhones since the old 3.2” OG, 3G and the 3GS, 5/5S. You can always adjust the font sizes to suit your needs just like in every iPhone out there.

if don’t size of text was not an issue for any app on older iPhones you’ve used it’s not going to be an issue.

Personally, I prefer small text on my computing devices even though I wear glasses to see and drive to read signs. At arms length away I like the gained screen real estate apps take advantage of on iOS, iPadOS macOS and windows since XP to Win10 Professional currently. (Drives me nuts in supper and seeing 1) full screen apps on a computer with such wasted space or with 300% magnified for in a browser but hey that suits others and I have to adjust.

that’s the key either you can adjust the is or you adjust or get what suits you.

Two comments not in favour of the mini. You’re not gonna change others minds in this dedicated thread so why bother? What do you have to gain by trashing the mini if it doesn’t suit your needs. Choose what works for you but this thread is focused on the mini for those considering or enjoying it. To anyone get what works for you. Usually your first hunch based on info you have usually is the best choice.

There may be a lot of interest in people with older phones, particularly the legacy Plus models which have 5.5 inch screens. They can look at the mini with the 5.4 inch screen and see that they can get a much smaller and lighter phone with a slightly smaller screen size. Camera will not be an issue as the camera on the iPhone 13 mini is better than on all of the legacy phones.

Only 0.1 inch difference, but dont forget about aspect ratio. Area:
iphone 7 plus = 83 cm²
iphone 13 mini = 71 cm²
iphone 7 = 61 cm²

Exactly. Plus in green, Mini in blue, significantly smaller. Will people ever learn that screen diagonal is heavily dependent on aspect ratio?

Aspect radio numbers (not sure how accurate that is) ... but I don't think it really means anything.

the REAL world use is what you can see on the screen.
with a 426 PPI on the 12 and 13mini

iPhone SE (OG):
640 x 1136 pixels, 16:9 ratio (~326 ppi density)

iPhone 7:
750 x 1334/1136 pixels, 16:9 ratio (~326 ppi density)

iPhone 8:
750 x 1334 pixels, 16:9 ratio (~326 ppi density)

iPhone 12/13 mini:
1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~476 ppi density)

now that is night & day difference you can take to the bank. Yes I'll be upgrading next week - deposit on my Giant Fastroad SL2 comes first (health needed to enjoy fun).

I have the mini and my 7+ on my table. Both have their own phone numbers and I could grab either when I go out or around the house.

I grab the mini when I need a phone now.

I have the font on the mini at the smallest setting. It seems like I have plenty of screen space for what I view.

I have a launch 12 mini with 91% battery. Upgraded to the 13 pro a great phone but I do miss my mini so I’ve decided to return the pro and now have ordered the 13 mini.
Did you notice the weight of the pro a lot? that was my concern, i went with a 13 mini as well, coming from a 12 mini.

yes it’s quite noticeable could really feel the wait in my pocket and in hand, but it is something I personally could get use to. I really like the pro but I thought I’d upgrade to the mini 13 because selling my mini 12 the cost to upgrade isn’t much. And then depending on what next year’s iPhone is I will either upgrade to the pro or keep the mini

Got my 13 mini.

First impression:
I can feel that it is a little bit heavier. But not that much that it is a problem.

The screen looks the same from what i can tell, except for truetone. For some reason the 12 Mini is way more yellow with truetone on and i always had to disable it. 13 Mini is less yellow with it for some reason.
I wonder what changed, that they couldn't just fix with software on the 12...

Sadly the battery is from the same manufacturer... was hoping i would get another one and it wouldn't age as fast as the disappointing 12. But at least i'm going from 2016 mAh to 2470 mAh, which is a 22% improvement.

Apparently the internal charger has improved from 13 Watt to 15 Watt, which i guess is to account for the bigger battery.

Today swapped from the iPhone 12mini to the 13mini. The camera IS noticeably better. Battery as well but a little unfair since my 12mini was 90% battery health anyway. Oddly I preferred the 12 mini without a case but the 13mini feels better with it. Solid, perfect weight, perfect size for me. I wanted to get the 13 pro so bad but there's no way I could go from this weight to that. Much more of a powerhouse phone this year. Screen is great, looks almost the same to me, but the overheating is gone.
Wait really? They improved the thermals?

My question, too- as I had my 12 Mini get so hot that I had to turn it off last night while I was simply browsing forums on Reddit. About as light of use as you can get.... makes me wonder if I might need to upgrade to 13 Mini, just to ensure I have a phone that will not crap out due to thermal issues in the coming year or so.

There have been a couple of videos out on the iPad mini 6 suggesting improved performance of the efficiency cores and this may be why the M1X has only 2 efficiency cores. It may be that tasks that used to run on the performance cores now run on the efficiency cores thereby improving thermals.

a few years back I purchased an ol 15" Apple PowerBook G4 "TiBook" which came out in 2000/2001. Surfing in 2013 absolutely killed any cpu performance and RAM and it would overheat. I expect that in such an old device but something less than a year old for just surfing modern websites that it was designed for really troubles me. I've had the same on these forums on my iPhone 12 mini as well.

Absolutely loving mine. Switched from the X (had replaced the battery in the X a year ago). Battery life on the 13 mini is better. :D

Really appreciate typing on the mini as well (and I have huge hands) - just something about the algorithm they have for the keyboard is more accurate for my thumbs in this form factor. :)

Sporting the wine coloured leather case and love how it fits in my front pocket. :)

Some reviews, on gsmarena for example, says, that shots on all cameras of 13 mini are 100% identicaly compares with 12 mini. Can someone prove it?

They aren’t. I’ve got both. Ignore gsmarena, they probably haven’t even tested the phone!

Larger sensor, better software, better stabilisation in low light, different apertures etc. They might be similar in perfect lighting, but that’s about it.

13’s have less noise, less mush, better colour reproduction and are much better at exposing a natural look on low light and with night mode.

Got my new iPhone 13 mini 256GB in Midnight all set up. Did the phone to phone transfer from my 11 Pro and let it all settle down overnight.

Everything appears to be working great. Phone is fast though not noticeably faster than my 11 Pro — which was plenty fast so not expecting a huge difference anyway.

Only thing I noticed is that it downloaded ALL my photos at full resolution, using a ton of storage, despite things being set to “optimize phone storage”. Hopefully they’ll get removed automatically as more space is needed for other things.

Loving the compact size!

Please do share a picture of your new hotrod!

I'm especially finding that you with big hands have no issues typing on the mini which is contradictory to so many others with big hands complaining typing on the mini or small phones. I'm curious if you have a screen protector on yours (which kind) or not?

I'm suspecting those that dislike the small mini keyboard or having issues typing on it maybe due to a poor screen protector choice??
