Yup, I was bored of iOS after 4 years and really wanted to give Android a shot as my day to day phone. I had tried an HTC Inspire 4G on AT&T but absolutely hated that phone. It was GARBAGE! Battery life was crap and it performed slowly. I hated it.

I switched to Verizon pretty much because I wanted the Galaxy Nexus phone. Also, I had been planning to switch from AT&T to Verizon once my contract was up because of Verizon's coverage and 4G network. I really enjoy ICS and, to me, a Nexus phone is the only type of Android phone that I would ever consider buying. The Nexus is definitely more of a computer than the iPhone. With access to the file system, lots of customizability, and throwing on different ROMs you can really make the phone what you want it to be. With this though I have noticed some drawbacks, like it randomly reboots at times, and I have come across a lot more bugs than I ever did on my 4 years of iPhone usage in just a couple months of Android usage.

I enjoy iOS and Android. Both OS's have strengths and weaknesses and it just depends really on what you want. Both have great apps but iOS tends to have more polished apps from my experience. If you are bored with iOS, try Android/Windows Phone and see if you enjoy it. You get 2 weeks and it's only 25/30 bucks if you decide that you don't want it.

Exactly. No need to cry an flame on internet forums as if you are forced into buying one.

thats a really cool feature. But until android solve the issue with the ridiculous way of system updates, and has a proper appstore that is big with less junk, iOS is still my preference. After all, its a tool. Without the proper apps, the tool is less useful.

Yeah I'm not trying to convince anyone otherwise and I agree with your first point; updates on Android suck.

The radio in my phone causes high "cell standby" battery drain. This has been fixed with a firmware update by Samsung, but the update isn't available to me yet as I have an O2 branded handset.

As for your second point, there aren't any apps I have on iOS that I can't find on Android, so I don't have a problem with apps.

As far as particular app functionality, I'm not going to say Apple is the best or Android is the best. They both can use some updating, but remember people this whole concept is a mere baby and we've already come a long way from where we were 5 years ago.

What I seem to hear from Android followers or those hating on Apple's "boring" iOS is that they want live, moving things, on their home or lock screen. Cause, you know, it's important to see clouds passing by your screen when you look at it so you know it's cloudy outside. Or is it that you need to see each of the 20 emails, twitter and fb updates you just got - cause it's just too hard and time consuming to unlock the screen and tap on an app?

Maybe what you really should be pushing Google to figure out is how you can look at your phone and have it know what you're wanting or looking for using smart sensing technology? That way, you'd see the latest text you got, only if you're wondering about the latest text you just got. Or maybe it automatically brings up a google search for what you are wondering, without doing anything but looking at it?

I get that it's to each his own and that's cool - but as others have noted the iPhone and iPad are tools. Are they the best tools for each and every person - of course not. But Apple understands that and they aren't going to try to make a small subset of tech people happy, at the expense of potentially making living with a device problematic for the mass population.

If you don't like iOS, great. You have a choice. You can stop using it or you can try to get a job at Apple and work to change it the way you think it should be.

Beyond that, I'm not sure telling others why you're going to switch to android does anyone any favors.

Jailbreak and you can sorta get rid of the stale/boring look and UI, lot's of little tweaks on Cydia that make iOS feel fresh in look and use (barrel etc), just an example pic I took long time ago but still had on photobucket:

I grabbed the GSII for something different not knowing if I would like it or not, and well ended up flat out loving it especially with custom ICS Rom.

I have and have purchased two WP7 phones in the past year thinking I was ready to leave iOS. But after a week or so I always end up back. Why you ask? The apps. I always end up missing some app that I really wanted to use and WP7 just didn’t have an equivalent app. I’ve never tried android but the SIII has me looking that way.

I was kind of bored of it back in 2010 when I got my iPhone 4. So I decided to switch to android and see how it went. Suffice to say 4 android phones later and I'm back with my iPhone 4S. It may be simple but it's always smooth and just about always works. I simply could not find an android phone that didn't have something that bothered me.

Not bored with iOS, I use it for the integration. Last time I checked, most people don't stare at a home screen all day.

Not bored. Mainly cause I don't steer at my home screen 24 /7.

99% of my usage is within an app. I'm just not the type to change my settings and design of the OS every 2 days. Ofcourse when I get a brand new device whether it's iPhone or not, I'll play around with it heavy for about a week or so. But after that it's basically all about just using it as normal. Set it and forget it.

Same applies to any major updates.

That is the ugliest home screen I have ever seen lol.

That's just one of many themes I had among other customizations jailbroken, what can I say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I posted that pic before and got a ton of PM's asking what theme it was ;) . I have way way more intricate themes, that was just a pic I had off hand.
