I think a big part of these reactions is being invested and stuck in the habits of Leopard and not wanting change.
It's not a matter of being "stuck". I have functionalities that I use constantly in Leopard that I would lose if I upgraded. Losing them would be a severe impact on my productivity, with nothing gained to justify it. Just because you happen to prefer Lion doesn't mean it's ideal for everyone.

Also, for every quote you posted praising Lion, I could post two from people who had problems with it or simply preferred not to update. It comes down to personal preference, not solely the presence or absence of problems.

Again I read through some threads and I have yet to find a real issue amongst all the people praising Lion and saying its good?

Good grief you can't be serious. So some of us don't want to upgrade... Big deal, move on...

More like "Have you downgraded to Lion?" Snow Leopard is 100x better. Lion is more fancy that functional

I just love how smooth Snow Leopard runs for me. Lion just seems... cluttered and buggy to me

Whatever functionality you need now, theres is a streamlined alternative way to do things in lion. The triple swipe up, plus the triple swipe sideways consolidates everything you've done before in a more efficient way.

Again you can't possibly know without owning it and getting used to it. Its way better. How is efficiency not productivity? How can personal preference be decided if you only have experience with just one side of the spectrum of choices?

Then I could post four more for every two you post because there are more positives than negatives overall :)

It seems as though they just fear change.

Actually its more functional than fancy. It looks the same, just lets you navigate more efficiently and evolves the idea of the desktop in a way that makes the past seem like a chore.

I think you just overly focused on the whole, make Lion more like iOS thing and got the wrong idea.

I can't comment on this because mine is a 2011 17" ultimate so neither one was ever slow for me. No bugs, no clutter, smooth efficiency.

Great to hear! Then tell me how can I reproduce this customizable menu in Lion. Use all the swipes you want.

I didn't say I haven't used Lion. I said I haven't upgraded to it. I do have experience with it, and wasn't impressed.

First you accuse people of piracy, now you accuse them of being fearful. You have a very narrow point of view that excludes the possibility that some may simply prefer what they have, especially if Lion offers nothing useful that they don't already have.

I fear, that going from this

to this

will make my head hurt.

But I agree, all the new and fancy ways to swipe my arse, ahem, trackpad, give me much more pleasure when switching between applications. I use a mouse though. I downloaded it, illegally.

I think I'll ignore the Lion raves... the whole "I'm a software pirate because I choose not to upgrade my OS" kinda pissed me off a bit

I don't blame you. It was an inappropriate, inaccurate and offensive response.

That's another ridiculous assumption made by Bobby Corwen. Not all of us are chained to the trackpad. I'm far more efficient with a mouse, and rarely touch the trackpad.

Why pay for a mouse when you can download it for free!? :D

I have been using Lion on a 2011 MBA since July and just this weekend I switched back to a 2009 MBP with SL. I realize that everyone has different experiences, but the majority of my time with Lion was one big headache. It still feels like beta software to me. I constantly had problems with wifi and bluetooth connectivity that I was never able to correct. The new gestures were a bit over the top. After about 6 months, the gestures to reach the desktop and launchpad still didn't feel natural. I'm completely happy with SL now but I hope other people have had better experiences with Lion than I did. I see 10.6.8 as a perfectly polished OS and Lion as too much of an attempt to merge iOS and OS X.

Ummmm maybe by downloading Safaristand? Lol did you think it was only available in SL?

I can't make you be impressed with something, but it seems like you didn't really own it on your own personal Mac for a couple weeks to learn your new workflow and really get a feel for the efficiency.

I didn't accuse anyone. I just asked a question to illustrate a point. What are you playing at? Didn't you get what I was trying to convey? Are you trying to exaggerate and make it seem like I am running around accusing people of piracy for no reason? I asked him and he said no. I see what you did there. Tried to dramatize it.

You are free to prefer what you like. Its okay that you prefer that, I was only exposing the general reason BEHIND why you and a lot of people complaining seem to prefer that.

My thesis is that it is fear of change. That is the analysis that I have derived about this phenomenon and the people who agree with you.

I am free to have that opinion about other peoples' opinions am I not? :)

Really? Sure looked like an accusation to me

and it's ok to have an opinion, it is not ok to insult others because they don't share your opinion. Or accuse them of ...piracy or fear of change.

When I purchased my MBP15 the seller shipped it with Lion (actually a clean drive and Lion on a CD). Not sure what the original OS was (probably SL ... mid 2011 machine, 2.3 Quad, 6750 GPU ...)

Anyway, I installed it the day I received it, updated regularly, current at 10.7.2, the wife's machine is a MBP13 current on SL.

Lion has been exceptionally stable for me, no issues, I dig on the small incremental improvements, I like the changes to the centralized Window/App management. I also had already started using iCloud on my HP (Win7) machine before migrated to the MBP, so I had already bought into centralized cal/contacts/notes (love everything staying sync'ed across my iP4S and iPad).

That being said, I haven't updated the wife's MBP yet :)

Let us be real for a second, nobody ever even used Expose and Spaces anyway lol

Now the way things are, it is actually useful for day to day functionality.

It wasn't working on Lion at first. It's good to know they caught up. That's still not enough to justify switching.
I can't make you be impressed with something, but it seems like you didn't really own it on your own personal Mac for a couple weeks to learn your new workflow and really get a feel for the efficiency.
What's the point of learning a new workflow? Just for the sake of switching to Lion? Again, you're not offering anything I need that I don't already have, without the cost and hassle of upgrading.

You did more than that:
I can't think of any other reason except using software that is cracked and there hasn't been a crack update yet.
My thesis is that it is fear of change. That is the analysis that I have derived about this phenomenon and the people who agree with you.
Your "thesis" is flawed and grossly inaccurate.

How old are you guys fighting? Come on. Let people with their opinions be. Its a forum made up to share, ask and help, not fight, prove wrong, and ignore. Im 16 btw.

I use Exposé since it was introduced back in 2003 with Panther, I missed it in 10.2, when I had to work with a Mac using 10.2.6.
I also use Spaces since its introduction in 2007 with 10.5.
But I guess you are right, and I am the only one using them. Apple must have gotten wind of that and changed accordingly. Those cheeky bastards.

That's the fun, proving each other wrong with no one getting it right. That is the world wild wet for you.

I have a question: How is the full screen capability in Lion different from Snow Leopard? It is just that it's built into the OS instead of a per-application feature? Because I can press Command+Shift+F in Firefox right now (I'm still running Snow Leopard), and I have a full screen view with no menu bar or anything. I can use a 3-finger swipe down to see all my other open applications, full screen or not.

That's exactly my point. Those who prefer not to upgrade to Lion can have legitimate reasons for not doing so; reasons that have nothing to do with fear or piracy.

Happy Birthday! I've been 16.... a few times!

hmm shouldve just let this conversation of 10 year olds be. oh well, i'll go support ACTA now. Bye!

I like the simplicity of Spaces and Expose on Snow Leopard so far, I guess I'm another one of the minority :D
