You think thats normal? How old was your mom and most people don't want to be paying for college at 68 years old or playing catch at 55.![]()
Nobody should be paying for their kid to go to college. College is a privilege, not a right.
Help out some? Sure... pay their way so they can party for free? Nope.
That said, plenty of people probably do wanna play catch at 55.
Why do you think grandparents are totally into their grandkids?
Now, many people may not want to be awakened at 3am to change diapers at 55... then again, many people are already insomniacs, so they probably don't mind. My grandma is awake a lot at night. Granted, she's 84. Still, she was like that when she was in her sixties, and whenever she came over to visit us and spent the night, she'd beat me to the crib when my eldest was a baby. Which was fine with me, as I had kid and was in college (paying my own way).
I'm 42, btw. Thinking of having more kids, but that's because dear husband is 29 and hasn't had any of his own yet. Granted, my kids are varied in age (20, 12, and 9), so I'm pretty much used to having them always underfoot. I rather like kids (which is good, considering I have a few already).
It's all about perspective.
You have my sympathy. Who in their right mind has children at the age of 50 other than Larry king and we all know how that turned out.
Fwiw, despite my thoughts of having another kid or two before I hit oh... 45... I'd like mine to all be out of diapers and in pre-k before I'm 50, thankyoumuch. But, hey... if you've got enough money and enough nannies, I reckon having a wee one at 50 isn't odd at all. I mean, you can spend as much time with them as you want, and leave the sleepless nights to someone else if you want.
Not that I'd personally wanna miss even those. Being up during the wee hours with a tiny baby is quite wonderful. Er... but, I should clarify and say that all of mine were really good babies.
