Oh wow, that's ridiculous. I said the exact same thing to somebody last week. Guess I better start looking over my shoulder...

For the first time ever I wish I had opted for the Max. My sister and a friend both got the 13 PM in silver and it's just stunning. I'm perfectly happy with the 13 Pro but when I put hands on the Max there wasn't a single moment where it felt too big. By the time I had made this realization I was outside the return window and I'm sure it would have been a wait to get what I wanted anyway.
You know honestly it’s never been about the size, in fact I love the screen size, and I don’t find it awkward to hold. For me it’s the weight, especially when I carry it with athletic pants/shorts that I can’t stand. I was in Best Buy the other day and a comparable sized Samsung if noticeably lighter. (Okay everyone can insert the “but it’s premium materials” argument), but it’s just too heavy. I’m still on the fence, worse this year than last. Lol

I can appreciate that. I like the weight of the 13 Pro and when it comes down to it, the smaller size just makes more sense for my purposes.

Next year will be interesting for sure.

The Samsung phone is plastic and runs Android. For those two reasons it's irrelevant to me how much it weighs compared to the iPhone. :D

I promised myself I'd keep the 12PM for a few years. Well, a $790 trade in offer on my 12PM and my wife having a 13PM ...... had to get one. However, I'm really going to try to keep this phone for at least a few years - I paid for AppleCare+ outright. I don't want to think about upgrading till at least 2023.
Having the same itch because got $790 for wife's 12PM -> 13PM. Now i want one for myself.
Probably upgrading every year could make sense.

I have an IPhone 13 pro max on order from AT&T but having second thoughts.

I’ve had my 11 pro max since launch and absolutely love it. Only problem is that the battery life is bad now. I ordered an iPhone 13 pro max from AT&T but recently have been reading about a lot of issues with them. Overhearing, gaps around screen, as well as unresponsive screens.

Is it that big of an upgrade from the 11 pro max? Thank you for your time.
I have a iPhone XS Max. Battery was bad and it took the apple store an hour to replace the battery. They also replaced the bottom ear piece. The phone works perfectly well. No slowness. I would have hoped something would be broken forcing an upgrade. I'm thinking of waiting for 14 as it may have usb-c and a felt camera. I'm confused as well.

You should then divide the final totals by the amount of years the phones would be used. That will give you your actual yearly outlay. Your calculations for 3 year and 5 year don’t take into account the full use of the phone. The final total for someone keeping their phone for 3 years at a time should be divided by 6. The 5 year purchaser total should be divided by 10. The 2 year purchaser total should be divided by 6. When you do that, you see that keeping your phone longer does indeed save you $150-200 per year.

Three years is really the sweet spot, IMO. Of course, keeping a phone 5 years will save you the most, but it doesn’t make much sense seeing as your battery usually needs replaced by the 3 year mark as well.

If you still have your 11 pro max, you may be better off sending your 13 back and just paying $69 for a new battery for the 11 pro max.

I had an 11 pro max and was not going to upgrade to the 12 pro max until my daughters phone went down and I had to. (she gets the hand me downs) I do have to say I really like the 12 pro max a lot more than the 11 PM. Its not a ton different but feels a ton different.

I completely agree. I also went to Best Buy on launch day and looked at the iPhones and similarly sized Samsung phones. The 13 pro max is my first plus or max sized iPhone. I love it. When I got it, moving from my iPhone X, the screen seemed GINORMOUS but now it doesn't feel so big. I did have second thoughts at first. Now, I wouldn't return it for the smaller pro model BUT this thing feels like a brick in my hand. It's a big boy. I've only been using it for a week and this adjustment period is difficult for time being.

I got the 13 mini but was gifted a 13 PM. I got a chance to test out the PM on a recent trip. Battery held up. Photos were great. Screen is awesome. I was team mini but I think I am officially team PM. I love the thing. I was concerned about the size and the weight but… it’s fine! So what if it sticks out a little when in my back pocket! 🤣

Maybe next year. Just Maybe.

So I’ve charged the new pro max twice. I’ve attached each graph. First day battery didn’t drop bad but by end of day it was 57% just like my 11 pro max. Today I was 100-% off charger and then it dropped 7% in half an hour. I’ve tried all the settings Google recommends for battery life. What am I doing wrong? Doesn’t seem that much better than the 11 pro max. I am on 15.0.2 also.

I wouldn't be concerned about any of the battery life things with only 2 charges. Still indexing, icloud photos, radio signal(bad radio in your house?! so it drains also). Just enjoy your new phone.

Ok. Really trying to. Amazing screen and camera. At what point do I worry about the battery? Also, any news on a fix for when you start the camera up cold and you see a flicker.

Big difference and great upgrade don’t have any of the issues you stated go for it you won’t regret it!!

So here’s another update. I just power cycled my phone and it dropped from 88% to 80%. SMH………will this get fixed?

I think you need to wait a few more days. The phone battery level will stabilize. I've had the 13 mini and now the 13 Pro Max. I went through the same with both phones.

So did yours finally show this “amazing battery life” others are getting?

Yes. I charge my phone every other day, so i get about of two days of battery, I don't know if that's what you mean by amazing but from my experience and how I use my phone I get two days of usage. I do alternate between my iPad and my iPhone. Pro Max has awesome battery compared to my XS Max. LOL

Hopefully it fixes itself then. Right now it is the exact same as my 11 pro max that was just traded in for this phone.

At what point do I worry about the battery?
If i would be you and have this problem, i would do these 2 things if i am not feeling lazy:
1) You need a Mac computer and "coconut battery" app on it. If you connect it then you will see your designed battery capacity vs real capacity on your phone. Most of the time it will show battery health at 100%+. These numbers would be an indicator of a good battery in my phone.
2) Have no mac or curious? I would disable screen auto-lock, put in airplane mode, turn wifi on and leave it with safari web-page open (news website or google search). If it holds the battery from 100%-0% for 13 hours or more, then that would be up to 13 Pro Max standards.
