The Wire is the greatest television series ever made. If you've not seen it, you owe it to yourself to watch it. Episode 11 of Season 3 contains the single best scene I've ever seen on the screen, TV or movie. The entire series is a monument to excellent writing, acting and top-notch production. The show never panders, and always treats the audience as being smart enough to figure things out for itself (none of the usual network TV hand holding and ratings stunts).

I like Curb Your Enthusiasm. It is a good show. I also enjoy Bill Maher. His show is good too.

Oh... is this not an HBO forum?

My bad.

curb your enthusiasm is the best! I don't see it online yet but hope they are going to add it.

HBO shows are now appearing in the iTunes Store!

Sopranos: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewTVSeason?id=279180831&s=143441
Deadwood: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewTVSeason?id=279177307&s=143441

Sex and the City, The Wire, Rome, and Flight of the Conchords are also up at the moment -- however some of them are showing no episodes (I assume they are still updating).

Yep, just saw that and went "wtf..." , haha. It seems that the shows are still $1.99 which is cool. Some shows only show a description which seems to indicate that Apple is just starting to post them up. I know for sure that Sex and the City shows are showing up $1.99 for all episodes from what I see. Will the other shows be the same or be variable?? We'll see...

The shows are $1.99 each. But, it is showing the Sex and the City full season as $22.99 or $15.92, depending on the number of episodes per season.

Sopranos and Rome are $2.99 each. Rome looks like a good show I might have to check it out, its a 1 hour show so $2.99 isn't bad.

Given the fact that HBO is the best channel on TV, this is fantastic news.

I am very, very excited to read this.

Yes, I am nervous about the pricing. Two bucks makes it a "why not?" price. If it's 4 - 5 bucks per episode, I'm going to be disappointed since I won't buy as much as I'd like.

But I will buy some shows. Price will dictate how much.

Either way, this is fantastic news. I hope new releases come out the same week and it's not just the old stuff.

Now, when will NBC wake up. I had 4 seasons passes with them, that I will never buy again. It's funny, at first I missed having them on my iPod, and then , over time, I found other shows to watch on my iPod at the gym. Idiots.

Kudos HBO...

NBC just can't compare with HBO. The latter is simply on a higher level overall, and its best shows crush the vast majority of offerings from just about any network, including NBC. There are a couple exceptions (The Office and BSG, for example), but network limitations are heavy and those shows pay for it.

Seems like the rest of the shows have been posted, and variable pricing is in. Some shows are now $2.99

Sex and the City: $1.99
The Wire: $1.99
Flight of the Conchords: $1.99

Rome: $2.99
Deadwood: $2.99
The Sopranos: $2.99

Well see how the market reacts to variable pricing, remember vote with your wallets!!

Yeah, I will definitely not be paying 3 bucks a pop for a 1 hour show.

Wait? Where is Entourage? Rome Season 2?

The complete Sopranos?

Come on HBO and Apple. I'm trying to spend some money with you here.

I hope the balance comes soon...

Fully agreed. HBO is so much better than the "networks."

Deadwood - Oh how I miss it. I'd watch it twice. First normally & critically, then again to let the words bathe over me. So many poo-poo'd it thinking it was "a western" as did I initially. That show brought tears to my eyes from its brilliance. Glad to see it on iTunes.

jesus christ

what a god damn rip off. for $3 bucks i can rent a dvd or blu ray, get high def, 5.1 sound, and 2-6 episodes... for the price of what they're charging for one show?

pass.

Holy Bhudda, Batman!

We agree. I'll just check out the DVD's from my local library. Gotta give HBO a Hand. This will be a nice Brake if you've missed these shows.

Interesting pricing. Why $2.99 for "Rome" but $1.99 for "The Wire"?

Regarding the $2.99 price: it does not seem intrinsically out of whack. Movies are $14.99. Three episodes of the Sopranos, with the approximate running time of a feature film, will cost $9.97. Personally, I think some shows, including "The Wire", "The Sopranos", and "Deadwood", are better than almost any film out there. Most Hollywood films today seem to be either remakes, sequels, or based on comic books.

You have to get to some of the best of the best to get films that equal the consistent greatness of The Wire, Deadwood and some of HBO's other shows.

you can't compare renting to buying. 2 totally different things, renting is always cheaper. Compare the cost to buying the season DVD which it looks like sopranos on amazon is $50 a season, so buying through iTunes would be cheaper.
