im sure all 9 people who buy Sony and LG phones will be ecstatic. Take a hike troll.

Yeah he's been fun. Has another thread going on and on about the phone not really being the first to record in 10 bit video. And he loves that cry laughing emoji! If I never see that emoji again, it will be too soon.

He has also mentioned the "0.7 Million colors for vs 1.07 billion" at LEAST 10 times....

In the meantime you should try these videos and see if are working on oled TVs:

And later, when or if available, you can compare with iPhone 12 ones...

So i just recorded a vid on the 12pro and played it to my LG C8 viz air play and it was playing in DV.

Did you AirPlay to the tv itself or to an Apple TV? I have a C8 myself. I don't think I knew you even could directly AirPlay to the TV itself. But then again I've had an Apple TV as long as I've had my C8 so I never needed to AirPlay to the TV.

Can anyone upload video samples recorded in dolby vision ? I wanna try video playback on my OLED LG.

Maybe you need a Miracast capable device?

And also same wifi, defenetly...

But various people in here have LG OLED’s and there is only one person confirming it working, on an older set - which wouldn’t make sense as the 2019 and 2020 sets would definitely support it.

I have tried on a 2017 LG OLED and a 2020. Tried AirPlay direct to TV (2020 OLED, 2017 doesn’t support it) and also Apple TV 4K, no joy.

I'm pretty sure you need to be on same wifi for this to work. For example in my home I have both 2.4 and 5ghz and my TV is only set to 5g by my phone can access both based on signal. If I'm trying to cast from 2.4 on phone to the TV which is on 5ghz,nothing works, except YouTube casting. Pics and movies from internal memory don't. Do you have different wifi modes?

Also do a software update to the TV.

Did you transfer your video with a cable or how did you put it on a stick? Maybe it was converted to SDR. Could you please check the video data with MediaInfo and post it here? Not getting mine until Monday.

AirPlay 2 is not supported on the C8 yet (LG promises it by the end of this year but I'm skeptical) so I suppose it was an Apple TV.

Thanks! In MediaInfo there's a View menu then please select Tree. That should show more information like color primaries (should be BT.2020), transfer characteristics, etc.

Yep definitely not correct. This is a file copied from camera roll to icloud drive and then the stats from MediaInfo.

But it says bit depth is 8 bit! 😂😂😂Seriously???

I see whats happened here, I actually used file explorer to copy the file to my NAS first, direct from camera roll, its converted it.

If I actually save to files, THEN copy it from files to my NAS (or wherever...) it saves properly!

So took my first video on iPhone 12 Pro filmed using HDR

Play it back on LG OLED which supports HDR and nothing.....

Anyone else feeling 8(

One reason I really wanted the new phone was for video in HDR

Me too. I get the HDR flag on the phone, but I airplay to my LG C9 and HDR it aint, let alone Dolby Vision

Tried the DV file in Infuse Pro on the ATV4K, recognises it as being “HDR” but doesn’t kick in HDR or DV either.

You couldn’t make it up.... I have it playing AND triggering DV and it looks stunning to be honest....

What did I have to use? NVIDIA Shield With the latest Exeplayer (same one that is needed to play DV MKV files...)

Tried in Kodi (only works using “play using” Exoplayer) and Plex (standard plex beta on Shield)

In camera settings on phone, you have to switch format to High Efficiency. It states that 4k60, 1080p at 240 fps and HDR video require High Efficiency. Also in Record Video in camera settings, make sure HDR is toggled on. With that being said, i shot a 4K video at 30 fps, and did not get DV or HDR through the ATV4K

Lol, so you have to do X/Y/Z and then...it doesn’t work? Sorry, couldn’t resist!

So we can record glorious DV HDR on our new devices, but to play it, forget the (current..) ATV, as it wont play.

A new ATV must be coming, or else this is a kind of big omission!

has anyone with a C9 got this to work? And how are you airplaying from the video in the photos app? Using screen mirroring?

Guys, sorry for this dumb question, but did you tried to upload them on YouTube? Or you want the pure DV experience?
