That is a tough decision. I think get a watch though, don't skip it.

I went though the same thing after the prices were released. I finally decided (or for today at least) to go for the watch I originally wanted when I saw the first video. The black SS.

When I first saw the price, I was trying to pick something else to settle for that was less expensive( for a smart watch at least). In the end I decided just to get it. I probably wouldn't be happy with any other watch.

See my original plan was to get the stainless steel or space black with the link.... When the price of the link was 450 and space black was 100 more then there goes that...

I still say to get something.

Maybe the space gray sport and save the money for v2, which will undoubtedly be much better.

Difficult decision with only looking a pics of the watch online.

This is the only thing holding me back to being sold on ss. The fact is there will be a v2 and I'm sure I would want that too haha

Same with me... I am sold on the SS too. I am actually going to order both at the witching hour and visit the Apple Store when I can to molest the the watches.

I will make my final decision when I get both in hand and return the one I don't want.

And I will also be getting v2 when it comes out!

My name is Dean, and I am an Appleholic!

Yes...I stop by my local Apple Store after work or random times of the day to check things out. I like to be anonymous, but they are to eger to help customers.

I get the, "oh, you are here frequently so just let me know if you need anything," or "good to see you again."

Damn...I'm just like the local drunk!

Dude I need to get my apple fix... Haha

Lol damn dude

Both what?

First gen and 2nd gen, of course.

:)

I say buy the one you like the most right now. Because, nobody knows if there will even BE a 2nd gen or if it will be a couple of years or more before it is released.

We don't even know if there are some upgradeable parts on the first gen. Many unknown variables. I think that you should absolutely buy the SS if you feel that is the body you are most likely to enjoy (the heft, the sapphire crystal, choice of bands, etc).

And if you want to buy that SS with the entry band (sport rubber) just snag that and then see how you feel about it after you get to touch and feel all the others.

I was like that in my local store about 10 years ago.

I think that in the past 5 years or so, my local stores have both become more annoying. Too many people in them all the time. Bleh.

See I want the ss... But I don't know if I should just hold for the v2.

Get the first gen. You want it already.

No, I don't do this same thing when out drinking with friends. LOL.

But, yeah... get the first gen. You'll have fun with it.

2nd gen might not even be out for 2 years.

I know I'm getting one just not sure which one at this point.

Get the SS with the sports band - cheapest entry level SS. You can always buy a nicer band later.
If it turns out that there is some upgradability of the internals, then at least you've got the SS casing and not the aluminium.
Also, I've owned many watches, but only ever 1 with a sapphire crystal. I've scratched all of them, apart from that 1 sapphire watch. I'm in the same predicament as you and I'm really leaning towards the SS & Sapphire crystal edition - just because I know that I bump my wrist on things and if I'm wearing a watch, I don't keep taking it off - even though sometimes I probably should(working in the yard, on the bike, etc.)

I thought about that but damn Apple knows their pricing

599 rubber + extra 149 Milanese/classic buckle band = 748
699 Milanese/classic buckle band + 49 rubber= 748

Wow. You weren't kidding. That poll is no help at all.

Throw in the black leather loop and we have the same dilemma.

I've settled on getting the SS with black rubber strap.

Reasons:

1. I've been convinced that it's sapphire or nothing.

2. It's the cheapest SS.

3. If I hate the rubber strap at least I've actually got an Apple Watch and I can buy one of the other straps later on when I've actually had a chance to see them in real life.

Not buying an Apple Watch was never on my agenda. That's crazy talk.

True, I should have been clearer - you get to 'save' $100 until you decide to buy the Milanese band!! If you buy both at the same time, just ignore me!

So, if you go with my "buy the rubber strap first" plan, if you like the rubber strap, you've saved $100 from buying a more expensive strap. If you don't like it and trade up you've spent $49 too much (compared with buying an expensive strap originally) but you might get something back by selling the rubber band(s). I think the black ones will be in demand from people who've bought silver aluminium Sports and hate the dorky colours.

Huh? It's the same price. What do you mean by you've spent 49 too much? Do you mean paying 599 rubber + 149 classic/Milanese = 748 vs 699 classic/Milanese? Then yes, but you have one less band from the other that's why the 49 difference comes to play.

If you buy the rubber strap for 599 vs Milanese/classic buckle for 699... Yes ur saving 100... If you just want one band.

If you end up buying a better strap extra then that's 149 ... Which equals 748.
There's no need to sell the black bands if you're not planning on keeping it. Just get the better band to begin with.

I'm on the fence between Milanese and classic buckle too haha
