I already contacted the police, I'm on the bus heading to work now. I'll keep this thread updated after I get to work and figure things out.

This is suitable

Contact the police, the longer you sit here expecting a forum to deal a miracle the longer they have your iPhone ;)

I DID CHASE AFTER HIM! ****in ******* ran hella fast and I even yelled hella nobody helps

You should have gave chase. That way when he's beating your ass others will call the cops, perp gets arrested, you get to post on MR from the hospital with your new 4s. Win.

Seriously, stealing an iPhone these days is just stupid.

Anytime the thief turns it on, it'll send out a ping and the carrier will be able to locate it within a few hundred feet. From there, the police can use a close-range cell signal tracker and process of elimination.

Same method they use to track the cell phones of missing/abducted people.

Where do you live? I can't believe nobody helped.

I don't believe the police actually give a damn because it's not worth their time.

Say Siris name Three Times while looking into a mirror in a dark restroom. Siri will appear and help you locate your phone.

Sorry for your loss. I'm hoping you'll ignore those who've posted & revealed their ignorance & selfish disregard for your misfortune.

These are the same ones who give Apple enthusiasts a bad name. Their fear limits their ability to think. What goes around comes around.

Actually, since it's activated, just call the police. They'll contact your carrier, get the phone ID and track down the thief.

You got a passcode on it?

If it's on, your iPhone can be tracked via Cellular or WIFI triangulation.

That's how the police tracked down the person who "found" the iPhone prototype that was left in the bar a couple months ago.

Actually, they will take a theft report and file it. They wont have the time to deal with anything more.

In case you didnt read it, there was some shady dealings with a multi billiondollar company (apple) that got the prototype found.

Yeah they might do that to find a missing person. But they'd never do all that just to find a stolen phone.

I'm very sorry for what happened to you. I try myself to be more careful now days here in the states as criminals are adapting to new customer demand goodies and cellphones are a good target.

I would be very careful showing off your iPhone at a nearby Starbucks or any other public gathering b/c they (criminals) could be observing you and just waiting for the right moment. I'm always careful b/c I know people now days are willing to do many things to earn a buck, shoplifting, theft, even murder.

So, since your phone got stolen how did you manage to call the police and also post in this thread all while on the bus? You must carry an amazing assortment of tech goodies with you at all times.

I feel the laws on smartphone theft should be dealt nowadays with stricter punishment because its very close to identity theft.

Times have changed and there is so much personal info on smartphones these days.

With stricter laws/punishment some (not all) thieves might think twice before attempting to steal one.

Also if someone finds a lost smartphone they might also think twice knowing what the new consequences can be.

Have you called this guy for help?

Just say "Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there!" With Siri and boom you will have a hot chick pop up, but forget about the phone you have the girl now! haha

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
OMFG!!! You made snot fly out my nose! This thread is so depressing and sad to read but your comment hit me hard, outta nowhere.

Thanks for the laugh!

OP: I'm really bummed to read your story. I sincerely hope you find some resolve. I can't imagine how I'd be feeling if that happened to me. :(

I had my iPhone 4 taken at a cafe; ran to my car and tracked it on my iPad and caught the clown with the help of two police officers. Kept sending the ALERT to it and he pulled it out of his pocket when we were tracking him. Police returned it to me, but couldn't press charges b/c I didn't see him take it. Why didn't you try CALLING your iPhone with your working phone? Sorry for your loss...:(

Very well said.

I don't believe the police actually give a damn because it's not worth their time.

Maybe the role of police is different around the world but where I come from it's the job of a police officer to uphold the law and protect the citizen's rights. How can it not be worth their time to do their job?

This is where having a concealed handgun permit comes in handy.

I'm very pro gun rights, but come on. I'm not gonna shoot someone over a fricking iPhone.

OP - sorry, it sucks, specially that no one helped.
