in my mind Pages/Numbers are data input primarily, so imho not the best apps for VPro. Keynote on the other hand, while requiring content input, it also has a presentation mode ...

I wouldn’t mind seeing Pages, but Notes is nice to have since it’s kind of Apple’s glue when it comes to moving snippets of content around.

I am kind of surprised no calculator.

Apple’s VR is dead on arrival.

This is a result of Apple’s poor relationship with app developers and competitors.

As we have now seen all the major companies Apple desperately needs are not only not developing for Vision Pro but are yanking their iPad versions from being compatible too.

I suspect their behaviour with the 27% third party app store fee this week has been the straw that broke the camels back.

Downvote me all you want but these are facts… they have no interest at all supporting Apple’s entry into another new category and for once Apple needs them more than they need Apple.

Apple are screwed.

You might be right.....but you might be wrong. Too early to say.

Facts? Based on what? Pulling things out of the air. It’s not surprising that developers aren’t rushing to develop for it with the reported sales forecasts but it doesn’t mean it will fail. When consumers start demanding it the developers will bring their apps. The first iPad barely did anything and was absolutely useless and hss survived fine.
My iPad use began with the iPad 1. It was immediately useful to me, it did not cost $3.5k, and i did not have to strap it to my head. In my view, the tablet and the VAR headset are too different to be able to be compared.

so Disney, Paramount (to name just a couple) are not "major" companies, ok. And in your mind the 2 "major" ones are YouTube and Netflix, ok.
I don't really think you know what the Pro is, but feel free to continue to post "facts" ... you are entitled to your opinion

Frankly there isn’t anything compelling with Gen 1 of this product. The technology seems pretty neat and the AVP might be the most attractive of all the other VR options, but I feel like people who pull the trigger on this will have a “…okay now what?” realization after owning this for a few hours.

I’m not sure I’m convinced it will be a failure though. I suspect this is more of a “minimally viable product” to get some kind of return on the R&D put in, while they attempt to stand up an ecosystem.

But have others have stated, there’s not really a ton of third party backing behind this one, and I think the limited number of units in the wild will keep developers on the sideline. Apple may end up having to subsidize some third party support if they really want to spur interest.

This is not aimed at you, but I thought it was the best post to reply to with this. I have seen a lot of people try to draw similarities with the launch of the iPhone (Apple's first entry in to an emerging space). For that reason, I understand the comparisons. However, as those of us who were there know, this doesn't even come close to that. At all. Whether the VP succeeds or fails is yet to be determined, but all I ask is for people to please, please stop comparing it to the iPhone.

... and at least for now no Netflix or Youtube. Not good when early adaptors are not the big once. BUT then you can sit and look on maps and podcasts.

Since the apps are round, does that means other stuff will have round apps soon?
Doubt it. The Vision Pro’s Home Screen mimics the Apple Watch’s hexagonal grid layout, which also has round app icons. Also, the round ones indicate they’re optimized for the Vision Pro. The non-optimized apps will have the square/squircle icon shape.

If it was “dead on arrival” you wouldn’t need to wait two years.
