Not expecting many App to go with this.. it’s not like we are overwhelmed with the amount of Apps that currently have Home Screen widgets.. Good ones.

We don’t have YT, FB etc or even an Amazon one with your latest orders.

I wish I could work out the battery percentage of the Apple Watch widget. It has a random darker grey section in between two lighter section. What’s that all about?
Do you have an iPhone mini? There seems to be a sizing bug. I was really confused too until I saw some other folks' screenshots. There is a thread in the iOS 16 forum.

As soon as they allowed this, the iPhone lost its personality imo.
I don't mind the customization. I just don't like that there is not a way to choose the original layout options to make it look "stock." I think all of the font choices are terrible and there should be at least one "original" font for the clock so it still looks like iOS 15

Really? I can think of a many more.
- Battery level for my car (EV)
- Battery level for my hearing aids (currently reported by their app)
- Timer widget / Countdown timer
- # unread mail / text messages
...many others
+1
Timer widget / Countdown timer

I obviously much prefer IOS but am frustrated at the long time it is taking to roll out even the slightest customisable features to IOS to great fanfare as if they’re inventing the wheel.
Apple have always favoured simplicity and user-friendliness over customisation since it's inception, you accept this by buying Apple products.

While I agree that certain obvious features are painfully slow to be rolled out, however this works for most of Apple's user base, and has kept them successful thus far.

I always wonder how small a percentage of users actually use most of Androids functions or customisations? You could argue that it's mostly just bloating the operating system and adding unnecessary complexity for the sake of adding features.

You could argue that anyone defending Apple is a fanboi, but the reasons are valid nonetheless.

I agree. And to prove it, that's why my phone is still on 13. I would have maybe upgraded, had they allowed us to toggle a "stock" setting or something.

So the weather ones are constantly using your location / pulling data whenever you turn on your lock screen? Doesn't it drain battery like crazy? (ok maybe not like crazy, but noticibly...?)

Apple can and needs to do a better job with the design of the battery widgets for both this new lock screen and the existing home screen

This widget (screenshot attached) should not take up (literally) one third of my available screen real estate

Myself, and many other Apple users would really like to see the battery percentages for AirPods, the Apple Watch and their iPhone on at all times and take up as little screen real estate as possible

I can’t speak for others, but the default battery widget with just a circle and no percentage, is useless, as well as displaying the name of the AirPods as pictured in the above article

A simple picture of an Apple Watch and a picture of AirPods next to their percentage is all that I need - in AS LITTLE screen real estate as possible
You can show the charge for different devices.

Go to customize it, tap on one of the battery widgets, then turn off Automatic and choose the device. Then do the same for the other.

Yes, i.e if you click on a weather widget icon on the lockscreen it will open up weather app.
So if you click on the home widget that shows 5 lights on, you can instantly switch off the lights in the home app without scrolling? That's the one thing I miss from the old widgets that are gone.

To me, the clock fonts are where they surprised (and disappointed) me. A serif font option? Really?

IMHO, they should have offered variations (boldness, stencil, even that neon-looking treatment) on the standard system font, which could have allowed personalization and fun, all within the iPhone style. Like a company's brand guidelines.

Unfortunately my lights are all dumb and not smart, so Im unable to test that out. But I believe it works like you explained, you tap on the icon and it will switch the light on and off.

Personally, I love it! My ONLY little nitpick, and yeah it's minor about the new lock screen are the selection of fonts you can choose. Maybe when you install new fonts, you can choose these??

In the meantime, top left, top middle I like and would probably chose....bolder version
Stencil, bottom 3..does nothing for me personally.

My favorite was the super thin, clean Helvetica Neue from years ago, or even the current (Guess that is "San Francisco font") that came out in iOS9 I think?

Again...it's extreme nit picking, I'm a big font geek also...lol.
Other than this..I love what this new lock screen will, can look like.

AOD, may not come to the iPhone 13s, only 14 but that's not a major deal for me.

My favorite out of the new fonts. Bold and simple

Classic iPhone 5 with Helvetica Neue thin.

Totally agree with this; very well stated.

Echoing this post from another iOS 16 thread, the battery widget crops weirdly if you have your system Text Size increased even a little, making it nearly impossible to comprehend.
