How come Dashboard won't load two calculators?
I have one in the folder called Caculator green, the other is calculator clear.
Dashboard only has the clear one in its drawer. (I have restarted and all that)

I really like the orange calculator, orange being my favourite colour ( and fruit). I think I'll stick with it for now.

There's a file inside the Calculator widget named "Info.plist" that lists the widget name and version number... those are probably the same in both of your copies, and so only show up as one. If you edited one of them to change the widget name/identifier, it should show up as a separate widget.

Okay, messed around in all the different .plst's, and nothing changed, (logged out then back in)

Try changing the CFBundleIdentifier to something else... I think that should do it. Sorry I wasn't more specific before, it's been a while since I messed with this stuff. I need to get back to working on Calculon soon.

Here's Apple's definition of "CFBundleIdentifier"
This key specifies a unique identifier string for the bundle. This identifier should be in the form of a Java-style package name, for example com.mycompany.myapp. The bundle identifier can be used to locate the bundle at runtime. The preferences system uses this string to identify applications uniquely. (taken from this page: http://developer.apple.com/documentation/MacOSX/Conceptual/BPRuntimeConfig/Articles/PListKeys.html )

Some info about the plist file:
http://developer.apple.com/document...//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40001340-CH203-BBCBCJHH

Even more info about the plist file:
http://developer.apple.com/document...Ref/index.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40001339

Hope that helps.

Well I look and those were changed to a new name.
I can open both from my DashOpener Widget, but only one shows up it in the shelf still.

If you rename the Widget and open the Info.plist in Textedit, then modify 'com.apple.widget.calculator' to 'com.apple.widget.<yournamehere>', and save in Textedit, then install the widget, it should allow multiple instances with multiple widget icons in the dashboard drawer.

Anybody create a woodgrain calculator skin yet? Or maybe a few - a selection of various woods?

Okay, a good chance to brush up on my Photoshop skills!

I've got a whole bunch of other woods on my computer, so if I get the chance, I'll do some lighter colors, some burled, and I've even got a nice flamed rosewood to monkey with.

Oh, and use the modified backlight back on page 1.

Edited: See post below for wood skins.

Here's a generic wood-grain.

Further thoughts---right now I've got the wood behind the buttons, which makes the buttons *very* vibrant looking. I can either put a brushed steel behind the buttons or recode each and every button to not be so bright white.

Thoughts?

More Wood Calculators!

Here's the rest. I'm reposting the ebony because I fixed its color a bit.

Those are really nice looking!

Now "woodify" the buttons (shouldn't be too hard, just lay the original white button over the wood with Multiply mode on the layer) and make sets of wood buttons available--mix n match!

Ok, I will try that, thanks!

Thanks!! I'm not sure that wood-grained buttons on wood-grained, er, wood, er, would look good. :)

If someone can consolidate stuff into a package, I can try to do a skin with either metal buttons or wood buttons resting on a metal plate.

(This is, of course, all dependent on me having the time.)

I'm thinking pick one wood for the buttons, another for the base. Metal would be cool in the mix as well though.

Still More Wood!

I messed with metal buttons and wood buttons and liked neither (nevermind that to do just one would involve editing some 50 buttons!), so instead you get inlaid metal for your (plastic?) buttons to rest on. Not so much wood texture, but more options. Hooray!

Just made another calculator skin. This is more thorougly made, even with a customized button layout to match the keyboard's numpad.

It also includes a unique icon for the dashboard dock as well.

Hope you like it!
Thanks, worked.

Here's are some quick ones I did:

(remember to rename Calculator2.png to Calculator.png)

I like the plain silver one.

Anybody for making semitransparent backgrounds? That might be pleasant.
