It is a step in the right direction, but with the slider implementation, Apple kinda doesn’t want to admit that iOS 26 was the “right” design decision. Kinda like Liquid Glass is kinda okay for us but if you want you can slide it out)

I'm kinda more worried about the dropped Apple Watch 8. Why would you support a device for the completely new watchOS 26 implementation and immediately drop it with WatchOS27 which is how they are claiming a major fix of WatchOS26? This move was weird, if it’s planned in a roadmap before and it is not a fast decision then they should leave it on WatchOS18 and that’s it. Cuz you are leaving ppl deal with WatchOS 26 and they are not able to go back to WatchOS 18 or update to fixed WatchOS27 ….

I’m talking about generative AI, and not AI itself as a concept/idea
Your intent was clear, as was mine. I said up front I used Gemini. A forum mockup seems like the perfect place for this. It's not shipping in iOS, not being sold, not used for anything other than discussion. I'm not a UI designer and a picture helps convey way better than me trying to describe an icon in words. What’s wrong with that?

You have some errors in your statement. Allow me to help you.

They are spending so much development on usability and basics that were grossly ignored before they decided to release this abomination.
Hahahaha what a condescendingly ******* way to express your opinion.

If you think Liquid Glass in an improvement in usability you have no business speaking on the subject.

But the way you speak is the real problem… no one needs your “help”. Get over yourself, cause this **** is insufferable

Here's the dilemma...

  1. User sees no visible changes — "Apple's not innovating!"
  2. Apple introduces a radical, modern new UI — "We liked how it looked before!"
Apple just can't win. I think their work on Liquid Glass has been forward-thinking and people will soon realize it was the best next step... a real physics-based UI.
Exactly. I was just saying pretty much this same thing to a friend when I was telling her about the upcoming updates (I think she's still on 18). When it first came out I thought that they were headed in the right direction but it was a bit rough. I think it's just going to get better and these changes seem like another step forward.

People weren’t criticizing it because it was new. They were criticizing it because it was so poorly designed.

Maybe your prediction will turn out to be right in the long term. I hope so. But breaking basic usability isn’t innovative.

I ilke the subtle adjustments to the icons but when it comes to the flagship feature of the '27 cycle, Siri, what is this supposed to be?

Apple returned to photorealism with the camera app icon, they should do the same with the Siri orb.

I wonder whether it's about precluding all possible confusion associated with the presence of imagery which traditionally suggests the phone is actively listening for a request. The app icon suggests something more like "a building inside which there's that thing that's actively listening."

I want all my icons to be resizable so they can be made slightly smaller and appear on a glass-like tile. I should also be able to adjust the transparency level of the glass background. At the moment, I can only make the entire icon transparent, but that reduces the colors and makes the icons harder to recognize quickly.

it's interesting how many people have nostalgia for iOS6, I have an older iPhone laying around that still has it on there and let me say... it's atrocious.

No. I do not think Liquid Glass is an improvement in usability. Very much to the contrary. That’s why I was correcting your earlier statement.
