Waiting to see the new iPhone. Will be anyway quite thin and hopefully light to hold too. If it has a physical sim card option it will be great.

I am as I like the width. The thickness makes it a chore quickly getting my cased iPhone into/out-of my shirt pocket one-handed when I want to make photos.
Okay, you get special dispensation, because your answers are so frequently reasonable. I've never run across anyone who carried an iPhone in their shirt pocket before. I would think that market is smaller than those who want an iPhone 17 mini.

But how THICK will it be? Measuring at the thinnest point and touting only that measure is bull.
Apple should start measuring at the thickest point -like they did with the MacBook Air back in the day. If Steve had claimed thickness by the measuring the thinnest part everybody would have called BS on it..
No on like the camerabump .. but it’s real..

I have the 13inch M4 iPad Pro, and the thinness is cool I guess, but I don’t really care. It wasn’t a major factor in my purchase, nor is it in my enjoyment (and it’s in a case anyway). Out of its case, it feels solid/rigid though, so if this ’iPhone Air’ is both thicker and smaller I wouldn’t have any concerns about ‘bendgate 2.0’.

I’ll be sticking with my 13 Mini for now, as Apple continue to fail to make a new iPhone that appeals to me. I’d love a new Mini (or smaller, like the OG SE, still the best iPhone for its time IMHO) but I fear the chances are… thin(!).

iPhones are way too heavy nowadays. iPhone 16 pro weighs almost twice as much as iPhone 5S. These are portable devices that are meant to be light. It makes sense to create lighter phone people just want trade portability for standard camera and little bit worse battery life.
5s was the pinnacle imo

People like the mini not because of the screen size, but because of its actual physical size. The current SE is already 7mm taller and 3mm wider than the 13 mini. I find it hard to believe that your question above was a serious one: the people looking for smaller phones don't actively want screens they have to squint at, they want phones they can put in a jacket pocket/hold in one hand etc.
Yep, thanks. I forgot that the reason the SE's display is smaller is that it's the older type with the huge bezels above and below it, and that though the mini's display is larger diagonally, it fits into a housing with smaller height and width since it doesn't have those bezels above and below it, and so it can take up most of the front of the housing.

Apple is all about form over function.
That really is a silly comment.

When it comes to Apple, how is M series chip computers form over function? How is the Apple Watch form over function. AVP is CERTAINLY NOT form over function. The iPhone, has always been function first. That’s why people love it so much.

As I said, silly comment.

I was always confused how they measure the camera bump when talking about phone thickness. It turns out they pretend it doesnt exist.

I have to tell you many MacBook users spend a great deal of time using them one handed…😜
Maybe you can explain why, seeing you are obviously versed in one handed laptop use when you have a comment like that.

They all do it. It’s like a standard. When you look at some of the massive camera bumps on other phones, the iPhone definitely doesn’t stand out.

The original SE. Perfection refined.

If Tim Apple decided to give that thing a modern, albeit underclocked CPU to maximize battery life, 4 gigs of ram (yeah, keep your AI stuff) and 256 gigs ... I'd pay 800 bucks for that, no kidding. 12 MP camera and all the other antiquated stuff included. Yes, that means touch id.

Yeah but we also have some manufacturers making the chassis thicker just so it would be uniform with no camera bump. I feel like that gets lost in stats

"We could make something that users want..."

"No, no"

"That would be too easy"

"Let's make it Airy-er"

"Then we can make it Pro'er"

Introducing - iPhone Air Pro Max

You want a stupidly thick and heavy phone with a massive battery? Guess what, you can already do it...

You can't however make the default phone light and thinner, that's impossible.

The conversation at Apple that led to a thinner iPhone:
“Can we make an all screen iPhone?” “No! We must stick to FaceID, under screen Touch ID would be UNACCEPTABLE”.
“ Can we add another button?”
“No, let’s save that for the Pro’s”.
“How about a bigger battery?”
“No. People want THINNER phones, not multiple day battery life and cameras that are flush with the back”.
“THAT’S IT!”
“A thinner phone with less features!”

With those camera bumps I wouldn't call it thin.
Do you mean the artist render? Did you know that’s not the released phone? It doesn’t sound like it, is all…

5.5mm thin and 55min of battery life, only for $999 with 128gb of storage and 8gb RAM.
Clock the tea, Tim Apple
I missed the part where they said 55 minutes of battery life. I guess if ya wanna place to make up bs, this is the place to do it.
