On my M1 MacBook Air, I recently set up iPhone Mirroring with my new iPhone 17. My Mac (I know, I need to update) is running Sequoia 15.4.1, obviously predating the 17s. So I expected iPhone Mirroring to either throw up an error or be really glitched - but it isn't. It works perfectly. Except for one thing: the device's icon.
Because the system has no icon for the iPhone 17, it defaults. This in itself is not strange. What is strange is what it defaults to:
After searching through system files, I've found that this is the system icon of the black iPhone 4 (which is still in macOS, along with every other iPhone ever.)
I thought I'd share this because I thought it was really funny that this is what I get for buying a brand new phone. The 4 is about a decade before the earliest iPhone to support mirroring.
It's worth noting that this also shows up in the "Pasting from your iPhone" loading menu.
