What a TIRED design. Holy
Lazy, uninspired aesthetic and design. Truly awful - and I know the saying gets passed around often, but Steve Jobs would never have allowed this to hit the market.

From the multiple lenses, to the large camera bump itself, to even the notch, it’s all ugly and all horrible lazy design. It’d never hit production under Jobs, much less used for several years. I can’t wait until Apple designs something truly stunning again. If they ever do.

With these kind of headlines. You don’t know it WILL look like this. It most likely will, it might look like this, it could ect. But you can’t write it WILL look like this before it’s announced. I’m a bit tired of seeing these definitive statements in your titles - I’ve been here on macrumors for many years so I know how to read a headline like this, but I’ve seen how people take these types of articles for facts on your Facebook page where it spreads beyond people who follow your page. I’ve seen it too many times lately (MacBook Air will come in 5 colors, iPhone will feature smaller notch ect) please write facts as facts and rumors as rumors. Thank you very much

What? The article mentions that they have received these dummy models from case makers, this IS what it is going to look like. There’s not any question left…

So same thing for the past few years. Sometimes I wonder, if Steve Jobs was still alive, how evolved the iPhone would’ve been by now.

It certainly wouldn’t look like this, that’s a guarantee. I’ve never seen such awful aesthetics in an Apple device as what we have now. The notch was an unacceptable trade-off and it’s only gotten much worse since then.

Which model will you be getting? :p

None. I haven’t upgraded to a device past the iPhone 8, when the last aesthetically decent device was manufactured. I am currently using an iPhone SE 2020, have purchased several. I also own an 8, 8+ and a few iPhone 7 models.

I do not support bad design, and for the past few years that is all Apple has churned out. It’s very disappointing.

I will give you props for being consistent with your stance. Many here are not.

A marginal improvement. Might as well name it 12S just like previous iPhone nomenclature (3G, 4, 5, 6, and X series).
I'd say a significantly larger camera lens array is likely a much bigger improvement (though some won't like the extra bulk) than we saw in from iphone 11 to 12.

What in the world are you talking about? Looks like you haven’t been here long enough… oh wait…

Account created in 2015 and ur talking like that? You know better. MacRumors manages to provide the best coverage. If they don’t who will?

I don’t believe so, any Qi charger pad should work. See article how to wirelessly charge your iPhone.

Hope this helps.
i have an iphone 12 pro, and the camera bump already touches the edge of the Belkin and Mophie Qi charger that I bought from apple. If I let the camera bump go on top of the charger it would misalign the phone and stop it from charging.
The 13 pro looks to have a way bigger camera bump.

If you think the 8 looks better than the 12, I don't know what to say. :)

Does anyone know if the portrait mode bokeh makes use of multiple cameras at once?

I just realized the changing of the camera locations on the lower iPhone models to diagonal would make it easier to get a stereoscopic perspective if using more than one camera at a time, since no matter whether you are holding the phone in a portrait or landscape orientation there is a horizontal distance between the two lenses. In the iPhone 12 layout if holding the phone vertically both cameras are inline with each other on the vertical axis.

so blue is iPhone 13 pro?

I finally got to check out the 12 mini in person and actually liked it. I only wish they’d cram the Pro camera and features into a mini size

Apple's 2021 iPhone models aren't expected to launch until September, but thanks to rumors, CAD drawings, and renderings, we already know what to expect. Dummy models are now circulating, and we got our hands on a set to give MacRumors readers an overview of the leaks that we've been seeing for months now.

We have dummy models of the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max, and mockups like these are often created for case manufacturers. There's a lot of money in being first to release a case for a new device, with dummy models created based on specifications and details that leak from Apple's manufacturing partners.

In our experience, dummy models are most often accurate and are generally reliable representations of new devices that Apple plans to release. These dummy models in particular appear to line up with many of the rumors that we've heard about the new iPhones. That said, there's always a possibility that some of these design tweaks and changes could be off.

We're not expecting any major design changes this year, and the dummy models look similar to the iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max, coming in the same sizes. We may see some very small differences in thickness in some of the models, but for the most part, the iPhone 13 lineup will look a lot like the iPhone 12 lineup.

iPhone 12 Pro vs. iPhone 13 Pro

Apple is rumored to be cutting down on the size of the notch in the iPhone 13 lineup and there are changes that are noticeable on the dummy model. The microphone has been relocated to the top bezel of the device, which is perhaps the design change that will allow for a slimmed down front-facing camera module. The dummy models are designed for case makers and don't have an accurate display setup that demonstrates notch size, so we have to rely on rumors for that.

The general body design may be the same, but there are notable changes to some of the camera designs. Apple is introducing some new camera features, such as Sensor-Shift Stabilization across the iPhone 13 lineup as well as improvements for the iPhone 13 Pro, so the rear camera setups of these dummy models are not identical to the iPhone 12 lineup.

iPhone 13 dummy and iPhone 13 Pro dummy

Apple is bringing the iPhone 13 Pro in line with the iPhone 13 Pro Max, so the camera bump is much bigger than the iPhone 12 Pro camera bump. It's on par in size with the camera bump of the iPhone 13 Pro Max, so iPhone 12 Pro cases are not going to fit the iPhone 13 Pro.

That's abundantly clear when putting an iPhone 13 Pro case on an iPhone 12 Pro. We have iPhone 13 cases from Armadillotek that are designed using some of the same specifications that likely went into the dummy models, and the camera cutout is much larger.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max looks nearly identical to the iPhone 12 Pro Max, though the camera bump is a bit larger. The dummy model has different lens sizes with slightly larger lenses, but other than that, there are no changes. Case makers don't necessarily need spot-on lens size accuracy for developing a case, but there could be some changes to the lenses as some camera upgrades are expected.

As for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, Apple is rearranging the camera lenses into a diagonal layout that features a flash at the top right of the camera module and a microphone at the bottom left, with the Wide and Ultra Wide lenses positioned diagonal to one another. This may be a change introduced to support the rumored Sensor-Shift Stabilization feature, which is currently limited to the Pro models.

iPhone 12 vs. iPhone 13

The dummy models suggest the iPhone 13 will feature a repositioned SIM tray and slight changes to the location of the volume buttons, while the SIM tray may be slightly shifted on other models.

We may not be getting major design changes this year, but Apple is rumored to be adding improved 5G, a faster A15 chip, and a 120Hz ProMotion display for Pro models, so there's still a lot to look forward to in the iPhone 13 lineup.

So very sick of the same old design over and over. Tim Cook is about sales and making the most money. Steve Jobs was about innovation and making the best products. Oh I miss innovation. A better camera doesn't do anything for me. The camera I already have on the iPhone 12 Pro Max takes decent photos but when you zoom into them they get pixilated. Please give us something new. I want to feel excited again about a keynote meeting.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t write the articles. I’m saying they shouldn’t write “will” but write something like “most likely”, “probably”, “in all likelihood” or one of the many other options that doesn’t sound like it’s a fact - beacuse it’s not even thought it’s probably 99% certain it will look like that.

I’m almost certain they will look like that too, I’m not questioning that - but that doesn’t make it a fact and it shouldn’t be written like that. Many other ways to phrase that headline
