I hope I'm around for when they can do most mundane tasks. That would be rather nice.

Could you imagine having them shop for you? My God.

How do these guys make money just flinging dates out there? I personally think they'll introduce a new folding MacBook in 2029 that unfolds from pocket sized to 32inch. 🤣

Apple has the cash to research things that probably won't pan out, but would pay off big time if they do. Working in Apple R&D must be interesting.

I'm looking forward to Apple getting into this field. They should take whatever time is needed. No need to rush. That would be dumb.

Yep kinda like talking about smart robots with a leading dumbest in class Siri as their foundation with next to nothing spending in AI.

Yet I have zero issues using Siri every day of the week.

Spending next to nothing on AI? You must have inside information on Apple's R&D spending on AI. How much did Apple spend on AI out of it's $31 Billion R&D spent in 2024?

Now just get someone to PAY you for that. That's the magic here. Most of us prognosticate future Apple for free. But those couple of people get paid to do it.

City .... I admire your rabid conviction in supporting Apple and lining your pockets as a shareholder, but I (and undoubtedly others) do not believe you.

I’ll have to take your word for it as I never wanna doubt somebody’s first person account

I just have to say, though, that I also use Siri every day (on my walks) and it has a niggle, irritation and screw up basically every single day

I’ve sort of just accepted it.

Was this Apple’s breakthrough moment in robotics ??? I think their resources would be better utilized elsewhere.

Apple Car, Butterfly Keyboard, Apple Vision Pro, Apple Intelligence - Apple needs another project to burn billions of dollars. And of course, Apple will fail at in the end. "Apple cancels robots project ...". Oh man ...

Hey Apple, you need AI capabilities to train modern robots and Apple Intelligence fails at much simpler tasks ...

Alright I’m ready for my 50k robot house keeper. And potential care giver. And terminator. All in one.

just curious who's been asking for this? I really don't understand this company's priorities anymore

The shareholders are asking. That's a well of endless depth that can never be fed enough. It doesn't really matter if Apple makes Robots or Oven Mitts or Salsa as long as the revenue keeps raining records.

It doesn't have to make sense to us consumers. The assumption about us is that we'll buy about anything Apple releases... even hop into website discussions trying to convince each other why everyone must have this robot... or these oven mitts... or this salsa. "These are the one and only best oven mitts" and "99% says this salsa is the only good salsa", etc.

When something doesn't make sense to us as consumers, it's very likely about the money. When they seem to be doing something that is up to the opposite of what it seems the SHOULD be doing, it's very likely about the money. Whenever any consumer is confused about rumored or actual actions, step back, put on your shareholders/seller hat and take a fresh look at whatever it is from that perspective. Then it will likely make much $en$e.

Sorry, nope, nice try. Keep making stuff up. Nice diversion and ad hominem, rather than staying on topic and addressing what I posted.

Apple spent $31.4 Billion on R&D in 2024. That's public knowledge, from multiple sources, including Apple.

Great stat … thx for posting!

It’s crazy that the illegal Search deal with Google pays for over half of their R&D budget

It's a smart move by Apple financially. And pretty much a drop in the bucket considering their almost $400 Billion in revenue for 2024.
