I bought one a week after the show so mine is coming mid-late November lol. Which did you get?
Congratulations! Hopefully it gets to you sooner than that.

The only reason I’ll be using Monterey prior to a .1 update is because it’s coming on my new machine. Too many bugs lately across different OS’s (although admittedly it’s primarily iOS that I’m thinking about).

Sort of -Support for 10.14 officially ends on November 30, 2021.
Can you provide a source for this exact date? I don't see this date mentioned anywhere directly from Apple, and I don't recall Apple ever stating a date for end of support of their OSs.

It seems like this date is just based on when the last security update is expected?

Eh, my good old MacBook Pro 2013 is out of update. Are they suggesting to buy the new one?
Yep, and I still have a 2012 retina which wasn't Big Sur upgradable, even a base 14" MBP 8/14 M1 Pro would be way better direction to head if still want to be somewhat economical.

A little Part of me is jealous of you all that could install macOS Monterrey. But, that’s ok. I’m very happy with iOS and very soon I’ll get my iPhone 13 Pro Max 1TB so I’m moving to the next phase of my life where I’m done computers and the iPhone has replace computers for me.
Specially with 1TB.

After Monterey downloads and prepares this system update, when its ready to kick off the update you will get a security dialog asking for your admin passcode. After that is done its takes several more seconds for the system to restart, it won't be an immediate restart just be patient. :)
Truly, thank you for the reminder. The dark/blank screen is terrifying!

Just so everyone knows, those who have already ordered new Macs and are showing them as shipped are not going to have the same build of Monterey that will be released on Monday.

When you think about it, the timing is off; if they started to ship as early as Thursday or Friday, Monterey Release Candidate 2 was also released on Friday. There would be no way that the builds would be the same if Macs are already in the air while the official release isn't for another 2 days.

Just the heads up for everyone.

BL.

Kind of sad my 2014 retina 27 iMac won’t get this. Guess I’ll keep it going while it gets security updates and software support which should be a few more years. Don’t need the new hardware for anything, does all I need still so won’t be changing for a while.
