Yes. And it was worth the price back then when each iteration introduced major improvements.
Well… yes.
But Mac OS X was also in its infancy.
It’s amazing to go back and read the old ArsTechnica Mac OS X reviews, which are extremely long, extremely detailed, and started all the way back in 1999 and go all the way up until Big Sur.
Damn time flies and for the first time I’ve got a Mac that can’t be upgraded! 2014 iMac maybe it’s a sign!
Absolutely fascinating how long Apple actually supports their computers now though.
Absolutely no one purchasing an iMac in 2004 would have expected it to get updates in 2011, just for a parallel.
With the M Series I expect the support to go on even longer.
Wouldn’t be shocked if M1 series computers are still getting decent updates in 2030.
Wasn’t the 2015 MBP (that they list as supported) the same as the 2013 model, other than faster processors?
IIRC the 2015 has Broadwell processors where as the 2013 has Haswell, and the 2013 has the Nvidia GT 750M versus the 2015 which has the AMD M300 something or other.
And people are complaining about the names of the M1Pro and M1Max 🤣
literally any name is better than the endless Bridges, wells and lakes from Intel, and the endless letter, number, and symbol combinations from Nvidia and AMD.
Just for perspective, the 2014 5K iMac with Intel introduced in October 2014 cannot get Monterey.
The iPad Air 2, introduced on the exact same day, can get iOS 15.
Makes me very hopeful for Apple Silicon support.
