X Plus for sure next year. After just spending $1K + I’m sure some people don’t want to hear that, especially those coming from Pluses. Early adoption has a cost.

Don’t believe all that you hear, it’s all for hype.

Samsung will build all the screens Apple needs, don’t fall into the screen BS theory that there isn’t enough screens, or that there are supply restrictions, Apple will find a way, and together with the next biggest phone manufacturer (Samsung) those phones will be ready to roll for 2018. The old phones are done, the finger print scanner, the bezels, all done and sent to yesteryear status.

That would be nice. however, unprecedented. As I tried to make clear everyone has their own theory. But, thats all they are. If we are trying to gaze into the crystal ball, (which everyone here in this thread is) anyones guess is as good as anyone else. As educated or whimsical as they may be... they are just guesses. No one has the facts to support a more convincing argument.

My Prediction? X Plus in 2019... I hope you're right, though unlikely in my eyes.

A plus is definitely coming next year. The market for it is huge, just as the market for the original plus was huge.

My iPhone X is roughly the same size as my wives iPhone 7. With the X being all screen and matching the current plus somewhat in screen size just in a smaller footprint, this leaves the door open to make an even bigger screen in the current foot print of the plus! All this means is that Apple is doing away with bezels and the home button and those older phones will get phased out because Face ID is the future for Apple and by next year it will most likely be the standard.

My honest opinion is that the X is to small of a phone for me, I want the bigger size phone where watching movies on is a joy, where I get all the land scape goodies, and where I get that crazy battery life. It’s coming and just like the original plus phones...it will be a huge hit and you will see little handed girls using the phones just like the current plus and managing because Apple has this thing called reachability.

It’s coming people!
This man gets it.

What on Earth are you talking about? I never said Apple wouldn't make a large phone. You seem perplexed that people on an Apple / iPhone forum don't care for your shilling of alternative platforms. that's the point here.

Apple WILL make a Larger X. I'm sure there are plenty of theories or reasons why they haven't already. Supply constraints, OLED yields, or just the impact of launching a 4th device in a single product cycle... I don't suspect an 'X Plus' will be here in 2018 especially when Tim Cook admitted they rushed the X through ahead of schedule. Will apple pursue it? Yes. Probably 2019 but thats a baseless guess.
If they don't release a plus version in 2018, what exactly will they sell then? Spec bumps and a new processor will not give Apple any buzz, no one would be talking about it. Unless some new major feature is introduced, I think their plan is the X+ in 2018. While not a good representation, any post that I've made on this site regarding the X+ gets dozens of likes. the appetite is absolutely there, and Apple knows it.

Take a step back and don't consider every post mentioning S8 as "shilling." You'll be in a better position to understand the discussion.

It's about understanding the market and the iPhone evolving to become an AR device, which in turn needs a larger display. Not simply "Hey, he mentioned S8. He's an Android fanboy."

Even though AR works fine on a non plus 8 and an iPad pro..... you post makes no mention of apple devices only alternatives, a spade is a spade.

Even with early adopters, you will still see many of those who purchased the iPhone X this year will also upgrade next year. Mainly those on a tech forum will, but the average iPhone consumer will not because of the price point and they likely won't have the device paid off in time to upgrade through their carrier pending their payments.

If there is market for a larger OLED model that matches the design language of the iPhone X, fine.

What they need to avoid is differentiating the models on more than screen size. The iPhone X is an extremely welcome entry in the lineup because it has the best cameras, the best display, the best everything that Apple can do. It was really unfair to put the "best" of everything in the Plus model and leave the standard the 4.7" iPhone as a second class citizen that, for me, wasn't even an option due to the inferior camera system.

They could increase the width and add support for Apple Pencil. Soothing the nerves of the naysayers who bash Apple for not having stylus capabilities. That's why I would do.. You heard it here first folks..

Rumors of an Apple Pencil compatible iPhone have been banging around for a while. Apple got some interesting parents around the pencil this year, which leads me to think that you’re close to the mark.

My prediction: iPhone X Pro. It’s the plus size iPhone with similar functions to the iPad. Split screen multitasking, Apple Pencil support etc. Like a replacement for the iPad Mini. A gateway to the iPad Pro only from the iPhone side this time.

The screen on the iPhone X is already really tall, and reaching control center is already a difficult task. In order to make a bigger phone, Apple would need to increase both the vertical and horizontal dimensions of the phone, and I just cannot see Apple making the iPhone X any taller. Thus, the iPhone X Plus will not be coming in our future.
Wanna bet on that?

So basically a note copy..

Clearly it's not "needed", heck, we did a substantial amount of work with (and secretly "for" 😀) Samsung on their VR platform with S6 and S7s (the former is almost the exact physical size of the X I believe).

Anyway, I'd suspect a larger phone, that seems to be the iOS platform SOP: iPhone 6/7/8 ... iPhone 6/7/8 Plus, iPad Pro 10.5, iPad Pro 12.9 (plus 9.7 iPad ... er, plus the Mini, the iPad lineup is a Charlie Foxtrot).

I'll have to knock around on some physical vs. display scale using the X as a reference (though I'm sure this is being done as part of the speculation). Get a sense of the size and where the next logical resolution breakpoint lies (actually start with points and use a 3X rendering factor).

Actually now that I think about it ...

1280 x 720 Points @ 3X rasterization = 3840 x 2160

There's your X Pro/Plus, 4K 😀 (I know, totally "wrong" aspect ratio, just being silly ...)

I thought about making some guesses based on the point system and the 2x and or 3x rendering with down sampling. I was thinking just as the X fits a 1080p screen nearly in the active area perhaps an X Plus would be targeting a 1440p 16:9 active area. Yeah I know the X a smidge more than 1080p (pictured below) i'm just trying to define some rules in my head to extrapolate what an X Plus might be like

Screen Shot 2017-09-18 at 1.00.31 AM.png

I think the X is a 19.5:9 ratio. so if the X Plus could with a 1440p (2560×1440) and maintain that ration but still work within the developer upsampling / downsampling you might has a workable set of numbers. an iPhone X plus might have a resolution of 3250x1500... If it had a PPI of 458 that would be approximately 7.10" x 3.25. Apple could adjust the PPI to make it a little smaller.

Nice! Yeah, that's one of my operating bookmarks 😀 Yep, 19.5:9 (~2.2:1)

Thank goodness that it’s only your opinion. You haven’t provide a rationale of why apple wouldn’t make plus version.
