Was anyone else sickened by all of Apple SJW-CEO Tim Cook’s virtue signaling in the 2010s? He was often greenwashing, pinkwashing, and feministwashing. But now he is showing his true colors, which is that he has always been a morally bankrupt profiteer who will take whatever political stances he thinks will lead to maximum profits, including supporting a far-right fascist like Trump.

Ah yes the classic "everyone I disagree with is hitler"

I cannot believe and did not believe that milling away such amount of material, Aliminium, is environment neutral. There is coming a lot of waist. Oke, you can melt this again. But the milling cost a lot of energy, and the melting also. It's an old salesman trick of Apple......

Apple should honestly drop the carbon neutral bs and just lower the prices instead of planting flammable tbh. We got enough trees and if anything, developing towns and cities into empty fields with no trees will just add trees for decortion.
You have no real idea what you’re proposing.
Building towns instead of planting trees… sealing up the ground with concrete, polluting previously uninhabited areas, making people live in the middle of nowhere if little chance to prosper unless they, I don’t know, cut trees and cultivate fields.
I’d trees as decor would suffice, I wonder why the still existing forests don’t…

Apple called themselves carbon neutral because greenwashing is cool. Why did they remove it ? with just reading the title (a little quiz game), one can think of two non-exclusive reasons :
a) some EU court decided you can't call yourself that if you're not (what a bunch of sissies!)
b) someone around the SOAP (Smartest Of All Presidents) decided carbon neutral was woke.

Or just make phones with the same size for a number of years. If you want to reduce peoples footprint, changing it so an iphone 17 pro max has a completely unique case is pretty silly.

Should have known the EU would have something to do with this......

Obviously, all the power generating plants are carbon neutral? Except for those burning coal and natural gas. The nukes have the problem of what to do with their tired uranium. We do not mention how much energy was consumed to build the long blades of the wind turbines and how they are trucked to the construction side as was the 300' pole and box for the gears and generator.

Ever consider all the concrete used to make those huge dams in Arizona and other locations. How much energy was used for that construction?

Last free lunch with the lawyer was a one of the most expensive I have ever had.

Even if you believe that carbon dioxide represents an existential threat, this is all, and always has been, nonsensical virtue signaling that Apple should just dispense with.

Deviating to far, too quickly, from the environment humans and other current animal life has adapted to and developed within absolutely does.

A great new read from Peter Brannen on the really interesting research work being done on this.

And yes, Apple (and many megacorps) have loved to virtue signal around this also.

I'm honestly surprised people are more upset over a label that never meant anything besides satisfying ideology than something like:

Which directly violates the 1st amendment.

Absolutely awful and really highlights a MAJOR drawback to not having 3rd party App stores and/or sideloading, worldwide.

It's not good for anyone to have Apple with the power to silence things like this.

It's the sort of thing we expect in China or Russia, but not in the US.

EXTREMELY disappointing to see Apple capitulating to the awful impulses of the current administration.

Apple will do whatever is asked by the regime

It’s okay, all it needs is another moan from the EU and it should fix things

Yep - and to be clear, it's not like Google is any better.

This is why I advocate very strongly for devices to be open for device owners to install what they want, how they want and from where they want.

It's the only way to keep this bad behavior in check.

Makes you wonder if that’s why the industry did their worst to make sure the Ubuntu Phone never made it fully to market

When stories like this come out, I hope we all can realize that we're on the same side here.

It's simply, objectively, not good to have the corps controlling everything and capitulating to governments with rogue, or unseemly and illegal interests.

This goes to a whole new level beyond concerns about revenue lockdown and traditional App safety/privacy stuff we all usually debate here -- at least for me.

A friend of mine was concerned with water conservation, and told his family they should take quick showers. He enjoys sitting by his swimming pool in the evening…
