Sounds like a better option for sure. Come to think of it, does wireless charging still work?
Hmm...good question! For my own vinly leather case, I have never tried charging AirPods case with the vinyl on. The version of my case doesn't have the MagSafe magnets so I have to visually see that the green light has turned on before knowing that it is charging. That is one reason I don't keep the vinyl case on for wireless charging.

This is aimed at Hermes customers and audiences in that lifestyle. Personally, I'd purchase another Hermes belt instead for that price point.

mmmmm Herpes, such a status symbol. I suppose the with you for life thing is pretty decent marketing when it comes to a product like this.

Maybe worth punching a hole for the light anyway, I do check that light a lot for battery level (especially since my charging case is now 3,5 years old and quickly out of battery).

It feels funny to pay this much for an accessory made to dress up another accessory (and then put a lanyard on top), but yes folks there is definitely a market for this kind of stuff.

Just as a peek at a related phenomenon, Hermès had watch sales of over a half a billion Swiss francs last year, vaulting it into the top twenty Swiss watch manufacturers…

Its movement in the rankings was considered to be The Story amidst its class of manufacturers…

We’re not in Kansas anymore…

🤔

You can tell many people here have never stepped foot in a Hermes shop. Their Apple products are among the cheapest items.

And are men (including many who would think nothing of dropping a few hundred bucks on a sports team jersey and hat).

NINE HUNDRED AND THIRTY DOLLARS.....

NINE
H U N D R E D.......

Good luck to you if you have more money than sense and would pay 4X the cost of the actual device for a cumbersome ugly case.

At least it looks like that lanyard is strong enough to whip the servants with.

This will go great with my new watch strap that matches my jockey’s uniform.

Now, back to my space yacht.

Or... buy a nice leather case without the "H" branding, and treat yourself to a custom-built pair of Nicks boots. Your feet will thank you for it, and your friends will likely be much more impressed by the boots (Nicks makes really nice boots). You will also very likey still have $200 or so for other extravagances. HTH.

Hermès keeps making Apple accessories, so it appears they are selling well enough to make it worth their while. 🤷

Regardless of how much money you have, this is just ridiculous.
At a certain wealth level, $900 is functionally the same as $9. I step over a penny, but to Bill Gates a $100 bill represents an even smaller fraction of his worth than $0.01 does to mine.

Not saying I'd buy this case if I were a billionaire, but if I liked it then cost isn't going to stop me.

With things like this and that $20 premium polishing cloth, the high end Apple accessory market has never looked better. I bet these even make the AirPods sound better, just like that cloth can remove fingerprints like no other.

What a time to be alive!

For my homemade case, it's not as easy as punching a hole. Yes you can punch a hole but to ensure that fraying won't happen, a thread should be sewn around the circumference of the hole. That's a lot more delicate handiwork.

You're right of course, but I think it misses the point, depending on your outlook.

For me, it's not about whether or not $900 is a lot of money. There's just something perverse about spending that amount of money on something which, intrinsically speaking, is not worth that valuation. There are better products for protecting your AirPods at a fraction of the cost. Hell, buy a second pair of AirPods! I couldn't, in good faith, throw that amount of money down the drain when there are so many good causes it could go to instead.

You could buy an overpriced, statement, protective case for, say, $200 - and give $700 to people who genuinely need it.

Don't mistake what I'm saying though. I'm not saying you should never buy anything expensive. A $930 AirPods case is nothing compared to a new car and I don't see any issue with people buying new cars! But I would see a moral problem with someone buying a Toyota Camry for $500,000 just because another 'high-end' brand had put their logo on it.

Hopefully one day you will be a billionaire. But if I were you, even when money is no object, I'd still object to paying ridiculous sums of money to companies that, frankly, haven't done enough to earn it - and I say that as an Apple user!
