Thanks

It's a timelapse movie of the Sun from July 27th 2004 - August 27th 2004 taken from the SOHO Spacecraft :) I made it myself :D
Very cool. Did you grab the pics off of space.com or something? Nice job on assembling the avatar.

There are other suns beside the one lighting and warming the planet Earth you know ;)

Just to get a little more anal, I think ''our'' sun is actually more white than yellow, the intensity of it is quite high I believe.

From Google, one of my best friends :p :
  • The sun is a huge ball of hot, glowing gases that lies at the center of our solar system. It contains about 70 of the 92 natural elements that occur on the earth. The sun is made up of about 75% hydrogen, 24% helium, and just 1% of other elements.
  • The sun is one of billions of stars in the universe, and it is the earth's closest star. With a diameter of about 865,000 miles, the sun is only medium in size when compared to other stars. While some stars have a diameter 10 times smaller than the sun, others have diameters up to 10,000 times larger.
  • When you look at the sun and moon as they appear in the sky, they seem to be about the same size as each other, but the diameter of the sun is actually 400 times greater than that of the moon. They only appear similar because the sun is 400 times further away from the earth than the moon!

Just to top things off and make sure we all learn something today, a neat little site I stumbled on that seemed to have some decent content. Here you go.

Edit: Just like regular photography, the color of our sun can be altered by viewing through different lenses and filters, as shown on that linked page with the sun through x-ray, appearing red.

And a cool one at that.

I find I really don't know user's names on Macrumors unless the have a 'tar.

Maybe I'll notice you around more often now.

Edit:  3 posts behind!

Yeah I spose it could be a bit slower but I still like it.
I always noticed you, even when you didn't have an avatar, Sharewaredemon. In fact, I'll notice everyone regardless of their avatar status. The ones with avatars are, of course, easier to spot.

You've still gotta reach 500 posts, sorry.

How's the weather. ;)

Beat me to the punch, but looking at the member list there are a couple demi-gods that do not have tars so I assume you still have to hit 500, and of course I have faith that mad jew is correct, so I'd 500 still.

I was wondering if I would get an avatar when I became a contributor

On the topic of contributions....

Has there ever been discussion over stages of contribution for honorary titles on MR? $25 isn't all that much money....and there is only one value avabilable. Perhaps $25 could get a "demi-god(dess)" title, and $50 could get "_____", and $100...etc etc. I guess those circumstances could be handled on an individual basis, but I would be inclined to contribute more if I would get a special title :D

Considering you are 6502 and not Demi-god now, anything you contribute would be *more* than nothing. :)

Woof, Woof - Dawg

I agree with you, my point was that if you make giving money more fun (as it seldom is) then I would be more likely to give more of it. I subscribe to tons of shi* it daily life, and waste well over a couple hundred dollars a year on subscriptions to this and that, be it magazine, online news, online forums with special access hehe, etc. It can not be that hard to make a drop down offering $25, $50, $75, or $100 dollars, I'm confident there are people with enough webpage skill to accomplish said task. With the amont of creative juices signed on to MR at any given time, I'm also confident that a few other titles could be created to aid in differentiating the frequent-posting-contributors from the not-frequent-posting-contributors :p

I like my rating, and you know part of the reason I have not contributed is because I am ONLY a 6502 and I want to see some other chip numbers under my name first :p You may think it is a stupid thing to want, but I want it. You can also not instruct me in the usage of my money, and unless MR becomes a pay-only forum, I'll only pay when I feel like it. Again, you can view this as immature, arrogant, stupid, or what have you, but there are a lot of people much 'older' on these forums than I that have not contributed yet, go woof at them why don't ya.

Contributions are voluntary, if they were required it would be a payment more than a contribution. I think MR is a great place, and the adminstration is top-notch. When my financial situation is better I would love to, and will, donate/contribute to MR but for the time being, I'll take the 'cheap' route and just post as a non-demi-god.

All that aside, how do you have 'contributor' as your title instead of demi-god(dess)?

I approve of your logic. :D

Are you SERIOUS!?

Listen here Mr. 68020 or whatever....I don't see demi-god under your name either so where is the green stan? :D

He selected the perfect section of my post and called it out which in specific his arguement makes sense. Read the entire post and hopefully you see that my purpose was not saying I want a reason to contribute more (I realize I have not contributed) but was talking about it for current/future contributors.

I hope you all realize I'm not mad about this....it's in good fun, at least from my side.
