Yep. Doing this is more of a cheat on your wife activity, unfortunately
If you cheat your partner, then you probably have to discuss something. If your are controlled by your partner with this function, you probably have to discuss something as well.

But - you know - everything is possible in the U.S., if it is about your children. So have it on and always state: Yes, I know wher my child is (strolling around...) if you get cought or jailed by a police squadron:

Maybe even better glue a tracker at your childs back...

« If you're secretly shopping for a holiday gift or planning a surprise party » well sure…😏🤥
I'm secretly shopping my stuff online and planning surprise parties with others directly from home, so nothing to hide 🙈

This is a good tip, but you know what else works? Just leave the phone at home -- I know, I know horrors! 🙀🫨

I thought this was my little secret, now it’s out on the internet!

It used to be easier. Back in the day you could choose any device from the Find My app, but now you have to use the actual device to turn on location sharing.

If they are a member of your iCloud family and have sharing enabled, all of your Apple device locations will be visible to them under the devices tab. So it won’t matter what device is reporting back to your contact card. They can still see where your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad are.
On iOS 18 it also now shows location of family in messages.

I can't believe people let other people constantly track their location on their phone. I've never used this feature and never will, nor will I ever expect anyone else to have me constantly tracking them.
My family have done this for years. It's a safety feature when the kids are out playing with friends, especially when they phone to get picked up. You can also setup alerts to let you know when your kid isn't at school by a certain time :)

It's wonderful that MacRumors gives instructions here on how to cheat and lie. Is this what teenagers need to satisfy their parents? Or are there other users?

No country/culture should overindulge in lies

I generally agree with you, but it’s sometimes helpful for elderly people (who insist on driving, running errands, etc, or even long road trips by themselves) to have a family member who can check their location in case something goes wrong (i.e., they get lost, hurt, etc).
