Apple can be expected to launch an updated high-end Mac mini with a new design and a faster "M1X" Apple silicon processor in the "next several months," Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports.

In the latest publication of his Power On newsletter, Gurman writes that a new high-end Mac mini, which has previously been reported to feature a new design with additional ports, can be expected to replace the current Intel Mac mini in "the next several months." This presumably means the new Mac mini may launch alongside the redesigned 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros this fall. As Gurman writes:
Apple leaker Jon Prosser in May shared renders of what the upcoming Mac mini may look like, and according to those renders, allegedly based on images from internal Apple sources, the new Mac mini will feature a "plexiglass" top and a magnetic power port. The new Mac mini is also rumored to feature additional ports.

This fall, Apple is preparing to launch several new products, including the iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7, a new iPad mini, an updated baseline iPad, new AirPods, and completely redesigned 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros. With Gurman's new reporting today, Apple may launch its new MacBook Pros alongside the new Mac mini at a fully focused Mac Apple silicon event. Apple last year held an event focused on the M1 Apple silicon chip in November.

Anyone want to buy me one? Im a high end american. Great citizen. Never stole anything ever! Never been to collage. I have blue eyes though.

I'd really love to get this, but my M1 Mini really does everything I need it to do, and it does it very well. And extra port or two would be nice, but not critical, so I don't think that's enough to justify it.

This is something I freaking hate with Apple. Why do you need to buy a high end model to get more ports??????

We're in an age where half our devices are lightning or USB-C. My M1 MacBook Pro has 2 bloody USB-C ports, so if I wanted to plug my iPhone in it, I need an adapter and take up the only remaining port when I have my external display connected.

I'd rather back $50-$100 more for a few extra ports than to have to have adapters, dongles, hubs.... Even the lack of HDMI is insane. Not everyone has a USB-C monitor and there adds another adapter or dongle, and lots of apps will cut your resolution if the cables aren't a certain caliber or use an adapter (Prime Video and Netflix won't let you watch in high def.

I have the current model of M1 Mac mini and it has enough ports already

oh please don't let them make it without a 32 GPU core option.

(i'm not worried that they won't though. remember.,$$$)

After the WWDC nothing-burger, I'll believe it when Apple announces it. I'll get by with my M1 mini and Windows desktop until the M1X stuff comes out. I'd be fine with a large iMac or an M1X mini. If the M1X mini isn't enough, then I'll use the M1X mini along with the M1 mini. I'm pretty sure that the M1X mini with 32 GB or 64 GB of RAM will be enough and I can give my M1 to my wife to replace her 2018 mini i3.

Yawn. I was excited months ago, and many "predictions" back. Call me when there is an actual product announcement.

The article description is ironic because most reviews and bloggers praise the M1 Mini as the best of the bunch. It isn’t hampered by being portable and it’s a lot cheaper than the iMac.

This is the best news of the day! I've got the M1 16/512 now. My primary use is Lightroom and Davinci Studio of which this machine is beast, and even more so, with the release of Resolve Studio 17.3 I bought this as a "test" platform in my search to finally retire the Blackintosh, and it has performed beyond my expectations. I was planning on giving this one to my wife, and pickup a new silicon iMac. Not anymore! She will still be getting this one, and I'm getting the Mac Mini upgrade. There certainly be more cores / better performance, and that will allow me to also run x-plane on days that I'm not working. It is so quiet, and runs a cool as a cucumber laying the produce department 😂

Some of the ports, some of the time, for some of the people.

I hope the new mac mini has a mag safe connector.

Recently grabbed a refurb M1 Mini 16/1TB. More ports would be nice but I'm making due with hubs. Not sure I'll be itching to upgrade for a few more ports and a CPU bump. At least I hope not. ;) I'm still waiting for 80% of my audio applications and plugins to go native. That should feel like an upgrade once that happens.

Doesn’t the M1 Mac mini have lots of empty space inside right now? A redesign will probably make it smaller.

Yes, even with the buit in power supply

These were designed for mechanical hard drives and Intel toasters. They needed space so they wouldn't burn up.

I sort of like small stuff. There is the 'big stuff' crowd. Comes down to that? :D I like the MacBook. There's the 'Air' people. 1 inch difference can cause endless arguments.
