Yes, even with the buit in power supple-a waste of space :D

Member folks, these were designed for hard drives (remember those? LOL) and Intel toasters. They needed space so they wouldn't catch on fire,

Different now....just a little.

Basically a slightly bigger Apple TV 4K size.

But, but, Apple told me that (thanks to integrated memory) 8 or 16GB of RAM was more than enough and I'd never need any more! What do you mean I'm not allowed to downgrade my OS anymore?

Downgrading macOS is a feature. You do have to reduce security a bit but other than that, you can load any version compatible with the M1.

"in the next several months" 😂😂 It just means some time in the future, other than that meaningless. Nice work if you can get it.

Slogan due to new mac mini's small size:

A thousand apps in your pocket.

A build your own iMac with a high-end Mini at its core would be terrific.

Give us 32mb ram, a good enough video chipset for Photoshop & iMovie, choose your own SSD, choose your own monitor, keyboard and mouse. And voila lots of happy Mac users who don't have to compromise on an iMac's limited menu.

Don't cater to the gamer, cater to the creative power user who doesn't need Mac Pro kinda juice.

So a "Mini Pro" with the M1 Mini sticking around? My uneducated guess tells me the fall releases are for the MBPs so they get the spotlight. Everything else Mac wise is early next year.
apple will sell both models at the same time, that for sure. This m1x mini will be more expensive, of course.

Why does Apple want to turn its 'entry level' Mac into a high end one?
Cause they only make phones now. And computers with phone chips. It’s just easier to make everything the same and then the ‘high end’ just has more ports or something.

I'd really love to get this, but my M1 Mini really does everything I need it to do, and it does it very well. And extra port or two would be nice, but not critical, so I don't think that's enough to justify it.
Ditto. I got a TB3 dock, and with the M1 mini it gives me the extra ports that I need…DisplayPort, optical out, more USB-C & A ports.

This is great news. I have the M1 MacMini 16gb ram version and it’s fine but if this comes out with a better gpu and more ram (64 please) I’ll sell the one I have and get that. It’s a little underpowered for what I need.

After they released the m1 iMac, I bought an LG 5K and a 16/512 Mini. I figure they're going to be releasing a steady stream of m2, m3, m4 over the years and I'll be able to swap them in fairly cheaply without having to buy another iMac screen each time.

So if Apple has started a series of astonishingly powerful new SOCs every year, for lower than last model's price (like the low-end Min), I'll be able to keep up with advancements.

TBH, M1 is good enough already. I think what needs to be upgraded is the RAM capacity. 16GB is paltry compared to what we had with Intel.
My understanding is that 16GB is the limit that M1 can address. So in that respect it is not "good enough". :)
