I didn't want this to turn into a political debate, or fuel it.

But honestly, what you're saying is really ignorant.

I live in a village, with less than 2500 people. In order to go to a hospital, I have to drive at least 30 minutes. We have a clinic, but nothing that can do anything beyond a common cold and broken bones.

My school is 15 minutes away by car.

My college is 30 minutes away as well. This is my LOCAL college.

My next door neighbor isn't even visible from my window.

...(etc.)

Not going to enter this particular discussion, but just chiming in to say that I really don't think he was referring to people in your kind of situation. Many of us do what we can when it's practical, but such things aren't always possible. I don't think what Evangelion was saying was ignorant; I think you just took it the wrong way. I may be misinterpreting, but I'm pretty sure the intended target of Evangelion's is the people who drive needlesly gas-guzzling trucks and SUVs when they don't need one, don't care if they litter or use many kWatt-hours of energy more than they need, and don't give any thought to who has the best interest in their future when they cast their votes. ;)

More on topic, I hope the iPod Touch price drops soon. I would really love a new model when June comes around, but a price drop (and perhaps more memory?) would be great. I don't have one yet, since I've been waiting for 802.1X support (and for the funds), but I really hope I can get one sometime this summer, and a price drop would be most welcome.

The price will eventually drop on the existing models, but then a larger GB version will come out with the original higher price. And so it never ends.

Amazon is selling the silver 80 gig Classic for just $215 with free shipping and no tax. It's tempting to get one. My 30 gig Photo has like 2 hours of battery life. But I'm also tempted to just wait until a 64 gig Touch comes out at a decent price.

I'm waiting either for a 64 GB iPT or a 32 GB iP - not sure yet. If the iPT could handle VOIP I would probably go with that.

80 GB Classic for $215 is great!

32 is out.

Reread my post ... waiting for a 32 GB iPhone (iP) or a 64 GB iPod touch (iPT). As far as I know, or the Apple's site knows, the iP was recently just upgraded to 16 GB for $499. If you have information on a 32 GB iP out now, please, don't keep it to yourself! (and share it with :apple: too)

I'm very tempted to get one and use it for however long its battery will last (mine has lasted me almost 3 years) although I don't consider 2 hour battery life acceptable and it's been this way for quite some time. I'd say I had acceptable battery life for around 2 years. Every time I use it, the battery says it's at around 50% and then it just completely crashes. It might be 2 or 3 years before a kickass, affordable Touch exists (80-100 gigs or more, which is necessary since it's a video playback device much moreso than the Classic) for I don't know, $300-350 or somewhere in that range. I know one thing's for sure, I'm not paying $500 for 32 gigs of space when I've got 25 gigs of music alone.

EDIT: I just bought one, but mainly because they dropped the price on the black ones as well. I'm not fond of the silver but when I saw the black for $215 I decided I'd jump on it. Hopefully those firmware updates make a difference because I was not impressed with the demo I tried at Circuit City a while back. My iPod Photo runs much smoother. In fact, that demo was freezing up any time I'd click on various menu items.

Congratulations on the purchase and excellent price! Having only two hour battery life on an old iPod would make me buy right now also. I'm thankful that my iPod still holds up for what seems like hours. I have just under 40 GB's of music not to mention compressed TV and films. Whatever I buy next (iP or iPT) is going to be a major compromise in what I can keep on it ... sort of what it was like with the 1st gen iPod.

Apple would make a killing if they lowered the prices of ALL their iPod models.

of course, it's not like they aren't making a killing on them already.

yeah, what i want in an iPod Touch is bigger memory. at least 16 gigs standard but i know that sounds ridiculous but you know how Apple likes to amp up their memory on iPod models when possible.

dude, are you serious? ;) iPT comes in 8, 16, and 32 GB's already. If you want to dream and sound ridiculous, than ask for a 128 GB iPT at the current price of $499.00. That's what I'm dreaming for.

I think he means 16GB as the starting point.

I'd love to have an iPod Touch, but I most likely won't be purchasing one until 32GB hits, say, $349 or so.

Thanks. I just hope it turns out to work nicely after the firmware updates. Otherwise I'll return it because my first impression of the Classic was that its scroll wheel and operating system were both crappy compared to my iPod Photo. But I have read good things about the firmware updates that have been released for it so far so I am hopeful though still skeptical. ;)

Pretty decent....

i've seen some ipod touch 8gb refurbs going for $259.99+tax is that a decent deal?

I got a refurbed 8 gig for about that a couple of months ago; it had a scratch on it so they threw in an extended warrantee (not Apple Care) along for the ride.

Otherwise, it's pretty standard to see the 8 gig retail at $280 here in Canuckistan.

i feel its true

I Have Commented Before About Best Buy Sales On Ipods, And Would Like To Again. All Of Their Ipods Are On Sale (online Only) And They List The ipod Touch's Regular Price At $20 Bellow Apple!!! This Could Be Something!

I seriously recommend getting your iPod battery replaced, its cheap.

I thought refurbed products came with brand new casing? Why was there already a scratch when you got it?
