Yes you can. In the home app, Go to one of your HomePods and forced touch the icon. Then scroll down to the bottom of the screen where you will see a cog wheel. Click on that and then scroll down to the bottom and it tells you what release your HomePod is on
says version 14.4 so Im NOT on the updated release yet for me it says "All accessories up to date" do I just wait for it to eventually update?

My two (Stereo pair) HomePod minis just updated to 14.5.

I cannot tell what enhancements may have been added. I was hoping for Atmos support for the HomePod mini.
The HomePod Mini will never support Dolby Atmos. It only has 1 speaker so is unable to do directional audio.

My HomePod Mini finally updated on its own - but it sat in "downloading" for well over two hours.

For some weird reason, the Home app on my Mac agreed to update it, while on my iPhone the Home app continued to say there was no update available 🤷‍♂️

Server issues I guess

All of my minis have updated. But my full fat HomePod will not update. I fully reset it and it still says it’s up-to-date on 14.4. Given up on it now. Sick to death of the amount of time we have to piss about with Apple software these days.

I have 2 minis and 3 OGs.
By switching ‘off’ Automatic Updates, then restarting all 5 HomePods, all of them are now finally ‘Downloading’ … but they have been stuck downloading for almost 2 hours.
I am going to keep waiting, at least for another hour or two, before re-enabling Automatic Updates.

yeah something is off about this update..will just see what happens tomorrow..maybe all this hassle means it should not be installed right now. I remember there was one homepod update that caused some homepods to brick good thing I didnt install it..hope this one is not the case

You may need to reset them again as mine was stuck on downloading for ages and a reset kicked them into life

Got it to update..go to settings by holding onto the homepod icon and turn ON sound check..once that happens you will be prompted to update your homepod to version 14.5 worked perfectly

Ok I got mine to update. The trick for me was holding on the individual HomePod and going into the HomePod settings and updating from there. Not updating from the “Software Update” section of your Home Settings.

I saw it posted elsewhere that if you enable "Sound check" that after a few seconds the update prompts..might test that out just for funzies
That worked. That’s just crazy. This update has been the only glitchy HomePod update I’ve encountered.

Did this work for the OG or just the mini? For me, this solution seems to only be working for the mini

I saw the trick on reddit so gotta give credit where credit is due :) I honestly have no clue what "Sound check" has to do with well, anything..mine has been set to "off" since day one I never touched it heck I dont even know what it is all about lol
