The mini is not capable of making any use out of lossless audio at all you wouldn’t notice it, now make the AirPods Pro lossless using airplay

But did it kill yours? I bet not…
And as is the case with ALL beta software, that is a risk that literally everyone knows about with anything. By installing beta software, you are willingly taking that risk…no one is making anyone download it

No, but my Minis are almost useless on the 1st beta. They don't stay on the wifi, stereo paired, connected to their Apple TV 4K, or even stay set up sometimes. And when they do work, they distort and break up, then de-sync when turning up the volume.

My full-size HomePods got the new beta, but it doesn't look like the Minis did (they weren't displayed as an option to update).

I unplugged my homepods on 14.6 as one of them became hot. What now, Apple?

The HomePod farce is becoming a real joke. Discontinuing the original HomePod, promoting it on the packaging of the new ATV after it discontinued, then releasing new updates that fry it, there’s numerous reports of a mysterious plopping noise, … it’s like Apple really wants to fail in the home cinema and smart home department. All at once.

The only usefulness of HomePods are playing playing music from Apple devises and nothing else. Siri is just useless whenever you ask it to do something or search for something, a $35 google mini is more useful in my opinion. Apple really need to step up their game with Siri's usefulness/Ai.
Or stereo paired with Apple TV

Apple today released a new beta version of the HomePod 15 software, and it appears that the update introduces Lossless Audio support for the HomePod and the HomePod mini.

Back in June, Apple added higher-quality Lossless Audio and Spatial Audio support to Apple Music, but at launch, Lossless Audio was not available on the HomePod or the HomePod mini. Apple in a support document clarified that Lossless Audio would come to the HomePod and HomePod mini in the future, and it appears the higher quality audio will be available this fall when the new HomePod 15 software is available to the public.

According to 9to5Mac, those who have the HomePod 15 beta software can enable Lossless Audio by opening up the Home app, tapping the Home icon in the upper left corner, selecting "Home Settings" and then tapping the user profile.

From there, scroll down to "Media" and select the "Apple Music" tab, toggling on "Lossless Audio." When playing a song that supports Lossless quality, the Apple Music player will feature a Lossless icon to make it clear that you're listening to the Lossless tier.

It is not clear if there are other features in the HomePod 15 beta, but the prior updates have led to complaints about sudden failures and overheating, which may have been caused by the new software.

The HomePod 15 beta is available on an invite-only basis from Apple and it is not widely available to developers or public beta testers.

I would like to know more on the “how” side, it states on their website that lossless audio can’t be done with the current Bluetooth! So how is this possible?

Homepod and Home mini can't handle lossless, they are already experiencing latency issues when they are in stereo.
it takes time to airplay and controls go out of sync.
This hasn't been my experience at all. What's your wifi situation like? Do you have a recent router and running it on the 5ghz band? Maybe more devices on your network than it can handle? Or is your home congested with competing routers?

I had this lossless audio toggle since beta one. How about Dolby Atmos support, Cook Tim?

Nice! I'm glad they're taking the time to do it right. Looking forward to having lossless music :)

How many? My 7 are running 14.6 just fine.
I have 2 full size HomePods on 14.6 as a stereo pair to AppleTV 4K. 2 weeks ago one just stopped working and had flashing volume lights and was unresponsive and will not restore. Apple eventually said it was a hardware failure and as it’s out of warranty, they would not replace. A rep then rang me back today and said they have had many more reports of the same thing over the weekend and will keep the case open. Hopefully you won’t run into any issues on any of your 7

One of my 4 HomePods just died. Started running hot after 14.6. I have unplugged the rest of them. I’m going to open it this weekend to see if it’s the same diode that failed as others have posted.

Sorry, but I can't imagine that lossless audio wouldn't be wasted on a HomePod...
I can't imagine that lossless audio wouldn't be wasted on most people's ears, but the HomePods can easily play it
