really, I don't see that at all. What application are you having problems with Spotify (LOL, they really do need to get some programmers)? So seeing the problem is not from Quicktime, AppleMusic, iTunes, ...... have you considered it is the source you are using? BTW: I have been using lossless from my AppleTV for awhile yet both stereo pairs of HomePods and HomePod minis without any issues whatsoever. So.......Homepod and Home mini can't handle lossless, they are already experiencing latency issues when they are in stereo.
it takes time to airplay and controls go out of sync.
Siri works great. Don’t be asking esoteric questions and you won’t have to pretend how disappointed you are with Siri. Every time I ask Siri to do something or search for something I’d hazard a guess Siri does what it does correctly 95% of the time. Very few times do I get an answer that I don’t wantThe only usefulness of HomePods are playing playing music from Apple devises and nothing else. Siri is just useless whenever you ask it to do something or search for something, a $35 google mini is more useful in my opinion. Apple really need to step up their game with Siri's usefulness/Ai.
That’s the reason I do use the betas. They’re equally as unstable as the released version, I get to try out the new features, and I can easily report bugs that hopefully will be fixed 🤞Given Apple's QC on released software, I can't even imagine wanting to run their beta software.
It’s not, actually. Homepods have Wifi, Airpods and Airpods Max do not, so they are limited to Bluetooth, which is incapable of Lossless. Thanks for the article! That makes sense now, so can I assume that lossless will be available for AirPods Pro’s via AirPlay as well? It’s only logical
HomePod mini plays music...HomePod OG : Bricks.....Is this just for the sake of compatibility and feature listings? Can you actually tell the difference between lossless or not using a HomePod mini?
Most people are aware of the precarious nature of SOME beta software...and the possible need following for a necessary system re-install. But, no one expects software to brick or destroy their components with (as of now) no real recourse for repair. But did it kill yours? I bet not…
And as is the case with ALL beta software, that is a risk that literally everyone knows about with anything. By installing beta software, you are willingly taking that risk…no one is making anyone download it
One can only hope. There must be a new and improved HomePod coming. Can’t imagine they would update the software to include Dolby Atmos and some sort of lossless for a product nobody can purchase.
A broken 24 hour clock is only right once a day. My experience with Siri on HomePod is pretty mixed.Well a broken clock is correct twice a day. You must be the lucky one.
Careful! This appears to be widespread..I have unplugged both of mine. Apple may eventually offer some recourse to users regardless of warranty status. If you open it you may void any chance of having them fix/replace/offer coupon etc.One of my 4 HomePods just died. Started running hot after 14.6. I have unplugged the rest of them. I’m going to open it this weekend to see if it’s the same diode that failed as others have posted.
Sounds like your Wifi is a problem, too much interference or too many devices. Mine works fine with HomePod stereo pair and HomePod mini stereo pair. But then again this article is about direct play of Apple Music lossless, so if you are having connectivity issues it definitely has something todo with wifiWorthless when my stereo pair can’t even stay connected.
I agree, sounds like people either have really bad wifi, lots of interference, or want to create a false narrative. I have 0 problems with HomePod mini and homepod stereo pairs (well I do have a problem when the wifi goes out, but al the devices are impacted then). Either playing direct or using Airplay. I use Airplay from AppleTVs quite a bit. Flawless.Have no problems whatsoever with an original pair in stereo mode. No latency, at least with apple music, but i dont airplay, i remote control them (they access and playback apple music content by themselves)

Of course if people are having trouble with Spotify or YouTube music - that is not Apple's problem. I do admit I hav to close the Youtube app on the appleTV sometimes not even that I'm big it, but my son-in-law uses it and it is not very good, craps up the works. Oh well - google
Playing it and playing it well are two different things. There's only so much you can push out of that little speaker...I can't imagine that lossless audio wouldn't be wasted on most people's ears, but the HomePods can easily play it
Got a call booked with them, will be telling them that it stopped working and I smelt burning, so out of an abundance of caution I unplugged it and I was concerned that it could have burnt my house down if I was not in. That should spur some action.Careful! This appears to be widespread..I have unplugged both of mine. Apple may eventually offer some recourse to users regardless of warranty status. 15 second bug. Not your cars fault. This may be an odd place to ask this question, but has anyone had issues with playing the new lossless audio songs over car bluetooth speakers? My 2014 Toyota Corolla apparently doesn't like lossless audio and songs will just stop after a few seconds of playing it, so I had to switch back to downloading normal audio songs so that I can actually play them through my car. Not sure If the bluetooth in my car can be updated to support the new audio or if I have to upgrade it somehow.
I'm not complaining but Apple should support this day one the lossless launched. For a company pride itself in software and hardware integration this is inexplainable.Great news. And even with this…there will STILL be people complaining all in the comments.
But did it kill yours? I bet not…

Superslueth!!another to not even check and see if an option is there. The article says definitively Lossless
This is grossly inaccurate, whoever wrote this should be fired
This is just wrong
I mean, you can’t play lossless over Bluetooth….. so the only way to play it is if the phone transcodes the files on the fly. It’s not a difficult process and already happens (as an example) when you watch videos online. This may be an odd place to ask this question, but has anyone had issues with playing the new lossless audio songs over car bluetooth speakers? Okay but Homepods already do Dolby Atmos. and Lossless will eventually come. One can only hope.
Yea, you’re looking at the source audio.Well, I'm not seeing any indication of lossless in the Home app. Yet if I play Apple Music directly on my HomePod, I can see what is playing in Apple Music either in iOS or MacOS, there is a little lossless icon, click it under either and it shows lossless 24 bit 48khz ALAC. You cn also select the Audio Quality Settings which takes you to the Mac or iOS Apple Music Settings.
Ummm, read the headline. There is nothing left to interpretation. I called out the fact the headline indicated a definitive stance which was contradicted quickly by the articles contents.Superslueth!!
How is this article wrong? It clearly states "it appears that the update introduces Lossless Audio support for the HomePod and the HomePod mini." it appears doesn't necessarily means it IS there, maybe something in Apple's released log file or mention of this Beta says about Lossless being introduced, not supported (never mind even fully or partially to some expectation), just 'introduced. Kinda like Apple introduces the iPhone, any Mac but it's not shipping or able to be purchased or take home 'same day'. We can see pictures or the product placement in a video but not first hands-on even in the store. This article also states available later this year, which to me means - don't bother even dreaming about it as we're in the 6th month of the year so 'later this year' is end of the year. Just my take on this.
