Back in 2015, Apple CEO Tim Cook said cost estimates are often "much different from reality." "I've never seen one that is anywhere close to being accurate," he said.

He meant that they are a lot, lot cheaper to build in reality than any of the estimates.

For myself: over priced by $50 - $60. However, I haven't listened one in the real.

I waited ages for this and was very excited.

The sound quality is average. All Bass and a tinny highs.

The volume is pathetic, it's not nearly loud enough.

I'm sending it back, yet another disappointment from junky Apple.

As usual, people will ignore the assembly, packaging, shipping, marketing, R&D, and countless other costs that go into the device and complain about the price.

Didn't you know? Apple's AI now invents products with no human input, and assembles them with robots that run without electricity and need no maintenance. That's why they don't account for these things.

Not accounting for software is a huuuuuge mistake. While lately quite buggy thanks to Tim Cook's incompetence (yeah, he's the CEO, and in my book the CEO gets blamed first for everything), without its software, Apple would be nothing and it's nor easy or cheap to keep such an ecosystem of hardware running with software that is expected to continuously improve and impress.
