HomePod Mini Coming to Denmark in the Spring, Says Apple

899,- that's a 20% increase compared to say Germany or France ... even accounting for a higher VAT (5-6%) that's some serious gouging 🤣

You switched Siri language to English in order to use your HomePods with texting, calling etc?
Nope. Music, automation and stuff like that. Since Danish is not supported on my HomePods, the Siri part was not supported as long as my phone was in Danish region. I had to switch to English but then Siri can’t read my Danish text and I can’t reply in Danish.

Tried one in an Apple Store one day. Can't say I was impressed.
Never heard the original HomePod, but my guess is they sounded (a lot) better?
They are very good for a speaker of this size, but listening in a large store negates the quality loads as the sound disperses.

Ideally you want to try two at home in a regular-sized room, but your large statement is very true. The original HomePod is massively superior. I bought two this summer, second-hand and have them as a stereo pair on my desk as they are phenomenal.

Oh, ‘cause I can’t get mine to do anything related to my account (text, calendar etc) unless both my phone and pod are in same region/language - but other automations work for some reason. I don’t want my phone to not be speaking Danish so now the pod is just sitting as a Home hub, serving the odd “turn off lights”, and “stop music” command 🤷🏽‍♂️
Looking so forward to switching that pod to Danish!

It seems Apple forgot to mark that one up for the rest of the EU (€120 including VAT would have been appropriate) - guess we’ll just keep parallel importing from Germany then 🤷🏽‍♂️😅

It _sounds_ like Danish, and there are some "real" words in there.
It is from a Norweigian comedy show and that is sort of what it sounds like to other Scandinavians (I'm Swedish, but I understand Danish pretty good since I live close to Denmark and work with some Danish people).
I've been to Norway a few times, and dipped my toe into Sweden, and picked up a few words and got a'feel' of the language. Norwegian and Swedish sound fairly similar, lots of similar-ish words, but Danish sounds very different.
Yes. We all speak Danish, English, German, Hungarian, Japanese, Korean, Hindu and three distinct dialects of Navajo.
No it's true! 🤣 Most British people can barely speak English properly, let alone anything else! As a nation we are extremely poor at learning other languages (because of outdated and egotistical notions of imperialism and a false sense of superiority, mainly), but it was a real eye-opener visiting Norway and hearing how many people spoke perfect English. And when watching those aforementioned Danish TV shows, when a character speaks actual English, it's like 'wtf?' because it's so bloody perfect. The main actor form Borgen, Sidse Babett Knudsen, was on a British TV programme a few years ago, discussing the popularity of Danish TV here, and I tell you, it was very hard to think of her as being not actually British! Impeccable.

Some are good, some are not. "Swenglish" is a thing...
I remember watching a conversation between a Norwegian and a Swede; both were talking their respective languages, yet understanding each other perfectly. I'm really quite jealous. I can't understand people from Glasgow or Birmingham. :(
