Honestly, what do you want in a new design?

I'm not clamoring or even want. I want function and not new design. If there is something in a design that provide more function fine but what it does is much more important than what it looks like
While I agree, that is software design. I thought we were addressing hardware in this thread.
I'd like to see same design and polycarbonate back that was used in the 5C, but with a 4.5 to 4.7 screen size. It's still the best 'feel in hand' phone I've used to date. I don't understand why there's being looked down upon polycarbonate being used in flagship phones. It feels much better than glass or metal and is more durable too. Also bring back the screen that was used in the 6S with pure whites and which appears brighter too, compared to the (in my opinion) inferior warmer yellowish displays of the 7. Would be great if they bring back the headphone jack and of course make the camera flush. This phone with a white front and back would be perfect for me
People seem to want visual change for its own sake, seemingly on the basis that it provides meaning to their life.
Actually, most people seem to be asking for less bezel, which has a very practical benefit of allowing more display area on a more compact device.
Something not so thin. I don't mind the 6/6s/7 design at all. Okay it's not phone perfection like the iPhone 4/4s was but I think it's a nice phone.
I don't like big phones because I have tiny hands and find them hard to handle. I wouldn't have bought the 6s had I known the SE would be out 6 months later. But I did and I'm not disappointed I just wish it was a bit thicker so I didn't have to put a bulky case on to provide grip.
That's all really. It would also mean better battery life.

Iphone 4,4/S but with no glass on top of the aluminum like it was. Flush glass to the center stainless or aluminum middle. Glass on back and front like the old style also. Square design like the 4 also. Edge bezels all i want to see is the silver edge of the outside shell then the start of usable space. Better dual camera rear and real flash for front facing cam. Is that too much to ask?
Except...You posted you don't want the iPhone to change from its "Boring" design it has currently. So now you want to have a stainless model with edge to edge display? You were also stating it would be a "7s" year and you didn't want changes. So which is it again?

Are you sure? Because you posted a completely different post here labeling the iPhone 7 "Boring" and ridiculing against the Apple Watch, considering you own the iPhone 7. Could you clarify your post listed below please?

A discussion can't exist without answering questions and admitting when evidence is directly in front of them. I understand.
Everyone is going on about smaller bezels. How are you going to rest the thumbs and hold the device properly while playing games?! iOS is a huge gaming market. Reducing the top and bottom bezels will seriously hamper usability while playing games.
When my friend gives his S7 Edge to people to take a picture of us they always messing it up because the curved display doesn't allow you to touch it wile trying to take a picture. Then something always happens and we ending up taking a selfie. What a bummer.

All I want is the design of iPhone 4S. After 5 years is still perfect! No protruding camera, rear glass, power button on top, all in the size of the iPhone SE with a screen slightly bigger than "4. I hate so much my iphone 6, is brittle and nasty!
Exactly.! I use both iPhones and android devices on a regular basis and always fumbling with the Android devices because of smaller bezels. Can't even hold the phones properly without paying attention. It's annoying.
